The Lacquer Legion: Glam

Good morning!  I am excited to participate in The Lacquer Legion theme today, "Glam."  Glam means alot of things to me, all of them orbit around expensive, luxury items.  But I also think of Glam Rock.  As found in Wikipedia, Glam rock is "a style of rock and pop music that developed in the United Kingdom in the early 1970's, which was performed by singers and musicians who wore outrageous, clothes, makeup and hairstyles, particularly platform-soled boots and glitter."  And who better to use as my muse than David Bowie as Ziggy Stardust.  I sure do love that man, he's so iconic in music and fashion.  He was one of the main glam rock artists in that era and you can find pictures of him in some totally wild outfits.  But I went with what I feel is the most recognizable image of him during the glam rock period, face painted with a lightning bolt as Ziggy Stardust.  Did I mention that I love David Bowie?  Right, I did.  So let's check out my mani now!

You can participate in The Lacquer Legion's themes too!  Be sure to follow the Facebook and Instagram pages for info of upcoming themes and the proper hashtags to use!  Check out #llglam today to see what other bloggers came up with!

So here's my inspiration...

And here's my #llglam mani!  I used the following polishes: a-England Fonteyn, OPI 4 In The Morning, OPI Alpine Snow, China Glaze Riveting, Essie Naughty Nautical, Jordana The Artist and China Glaze Sexagon.  I went for rock & roll and bling!  I think it worked out well and I am very happy with end result.

OPI Gwen Stefani Collection: Push and Shove, 4 in the Morning & Love. Angel. Music. Baby.

Good morning!  I couldn't wait to share these with you!  I was very lucky to find the Gwen Stefani for OPI collection in my beauty supply store earlier this week and trust me when I say I bought them out.  And even went back 2 more times.  Anyways, this collection is pretty hot and I picked up the 3 that I thought were the most unique.  Here they are!

This beauty is Push and Shove.  Push and Shove is a silver chrome polish.  It is pretty amazing.  It looks like foil on my nails.  I was a little worried about buying it because I have never used this type of polish before, and I know they can be unforgiving with nail ridges.  So I lightly buffed my nails first and then used the base coat provided - a mini bottle of Drop That Base.  I very carefully and slowly applied 2 thin coats of Push and Shove.  I took care to not over work the polish or go over the same place too many times.  You can lightly see the buff marks in the macro but I was still happy with the outcome.  Push and Shove is gorgeous!  So this was 2 coats and no topcoat.

Next up is 4 in the Morning.  I think I loved this one the most of the 3 I bought.  It's an amazing black "satin" finish polish that applied like a dream.  There is a very slight silvery shimmer that makes 4 in the Morning much more interesting than just a flat black matte.  The formula and application were both spot on perfection.  I used 2 coats and no topcoat.

The other "satin" in the collection is Love. Angel. Music. Baby.  I love it for the color and the name.  It makes me think of Gwen and her L.A.M.B. collection of shoes and purses...mostly the gold tennis shoes!  The nice thing about this color is that it's not a solid gold.  It has silvery white flecks in it that give it more depth.  Love. Angel. Music. Baby. had a fabulous formula and application was really wonderful.  I used 2 coats for full opacity and no topcoat.

New Years Eve Nails!

Good morning and happy New Years Eve day!  I hope you have plans for a fabulous day and an amazing evening!  I have plans to go out to dinner with my little family and then we will likely hole up at home until the countdown.  Oh how times have changed since we've had kids.  At least we will have champagne.  So I have thought and thought about what kind of mani to do for tonight and I really didn't want to do black and glitter - alas I have no originality today.  But I am happy with what I paired up and how it turned out so it's not all bad.

Lynnderella: Blog, Shop, Facebook, Instagram

I started this lovely mani with OPI 4 in the Morning.  What a gorgeous and subtle matte black.  Actually it is a "satin" finish.  So pretty.  I used 2 coats for complete coverage.  I topped 2 of the nails with 4 in the Morning with a special, exclusive Lynnderella - Holoday Hearts.  This silver holo glitter bomb is amazing!  Hearts, stars, snowflakes, flowers, mouse heads, circles...so much glitter!  It's rounded out with a healthy serving of holo shimmer.  So much glitter and shimmer came out with ease and spread well on my nails.  I used 2 coats.  Finally I used another special polish, Cirque Colors Ginza.  Ginza was part of a duo that was only available at the outdoor markets Cirque sets up at in New York.  It's a gorgeous foily, silver linear holo.  I have nothing like this in my stash, it's really fabulous.  I used 2 coats and application was a dream.  I used 1 layer of topcoat on all nails but the ring finger, I wanted to keep that one matte.
