Serum No 5 SS15 (partial collection review)

Good evening all!  I am so tired and my knees hurt.  Sometimes I feel old.  I know I'm not but really, why do the outsides of my knees hurt after I run a long distance?  Sigh.  Ok, enough of my shining.  Since it's night time I thought it would be fun to share some glow in the dark polish with you.  And who makes the best glow in the dark polish?  Serum No 5 of course!  What I have to share with you now are 2 polishes from the Spring/Summer 2015 collection.  I think it is so cool that Victoria has so many different glow shades!  I definitely don't wear enough glowing the dark polish, and it's just so darn fun.  Victoria has tons of glow in the dark polishes in her shop right now and they are $13 each.  Head over and I bet you'll find one you want!

Coral-ectric is a beautiful coral full of gold shimmer.  This is a color combo that is so perfect, it always looks fabulous!  Coral-ectric had a great formula and applied easily and smoothly. I used 3 coats for full coverage.  I did notice a bit of a "textured" feel to Coral-ectric (typical for glow in the dark pigment) so I slapped on a layer of topcoat.

Victoria suggests using a white or light base for maximum glow effect but look how bright Coral-ectric is all on it's own!

Guiding Light is a nice bright white polish full of soft silvery and iridescent shimmer.  Guiding Light was a bit more sheer and I ended up using 4 coats to completely cover my nails.  But you know what?  The white glow is so stunning I don't even mind having to paint 4 coats!  Guiding Light dried with a slightly gritty feel so I used a layer of topcoat to smooth it out.

Serum No 5: Pretty Blue & Flashing Lights

Good evening dears!  Sorry for the radio silence over the weekend.  I find that my family's love of soccer pretty much takes over and if I'm not at one of the 3 kids games I'm at one of my own.  Next weekend will be even more hectic as my boys will be in their first ever tournament!  I'm very excited for them.  But since I have some time between now and when my next game starts I thought I'd share some pretty pretty polish with you!  I know you're familiar with Serum No 5 - who isn't?!  Her glow in the dark polishes are AMAZING!  I need to buy them all!  Well Victoria also does glitters, creme and holos like nobodies business.  Let's jump on in and see what I've got for you tonight.

Up First I have Pretty Blue (there are only 3 left and it's on sale for $7!!).  Pretty Blue is a nice blend of "blue and purple glitters in a clear base."  Actually the purple glitters seem more fuchsia to me, but the combination is lovely.   There are also some iridescent micro flakies in there to create a multidimensional effect.  The first coat was a little thin glitter wise but the second coat really made a difference and the turn out was a perfect amount of glitter on my nails.  The formula and application were both great.  I have on 2 coats of Pretty Blue over Elevation Polish Yeti Finds An Oasis.

This is Flashing Lights.  HOW cool does this look!?  Flashing Light is described as a "shimmering sliver topcoat."  I'll admit I tried this on before and wasn't successful with it.  I had put on too many coats trying to get it opaque.  Flashing Lights works best as 1 layer, no topcoat.  On it's own it just looks like a dulled out sparkly topcoat that you would put over a base color.  Nothing particularly eye catching.  But with the flash of a bright light (think flash pictures with a camera, nightclubs, Vegas, etc...) it's a totally new game!  Flashing Lights looks like reflective tape or the stripes on the road that light up when your car lights hit them.  Very cool effect.  Sadly I am just a boring old mom so this likely won't get to be shown off like it deserves.  I have on 1 layer of Flashing Lights and no topcoat.  Flashing Lights is $14.50 and you can sign up to be on the waitlist for it.

Serum No 5: Another Year, Let's Cheer!

Good evening!  Hope your day was well and you are resting, or if you are on the East Coast you are asleep and in that case you can read this in the morning!  It'll be just as lovely no matter what time of day you read the post.  Tonight I bring you Serum No 5, a brand that's been around for a while and this is my first time trying it!  I am very happy to have had the opportunity to meet Victoria, the maker behind Serum No 5, in person 2 times now.  She's honestly one of the sweetest gals I've ever met and totally adorable to boot.  So she is celebrating Serum's 2 year birthday and tomorrow (7/24) she is releasing this amazing polish to mark the occasion!  So be ready to snag this special beauty tomorrow (7/24) at 12pm PST!

Another Year, Let's Cheer! is the absolutely perfect polish to celebrate Serum's 2 year anniversary!  Victoria explained to me that it was created with the brands colors in mind...peach, black, grey, white and light blue.  It's a very pretty mixture of glitters with a touch of holo shimmer all suspended inside a sheer grey base.  I had initially tried Another Year, Let's Cheer! on it's own and while it will build up alone, you will need 3 thick coats.  So I decided to try it over a base color and used Dior Gris Trianon, a very light taupey grey creme.  I love Another Year, Let's Cheer! over this base color.  It looks so very much like gorgeous granite but still very feminine.  Layered over a base color I only needed 1 coat of Another Year, Let's Cheer!.  The formula and application were both fabulous.  I had plenty of glitter come out and it spread well on my nails.  I finished with 1 layer of topcoat.

Of course Another Year, Let's Cheer! is a glow in the dark polish.  How could it not be with Serum No 5 being the glow in the dark queen?!  Now I may have used too dark of a base color, but I had a hard time getting good glow pictures of Another Year, Let's Cheer!.  Trust me when I say that this baby really glows brightly and for a good length of time.  So while my picture fails to show the true awesomeness you can check out Ehmkay Nails post because her glow in the dark pictures really rocked!
