Superficially Colorful Lacquer Special Edition Polishes; Stay Classy LAs Vegas & You Only Live Once
Good evening friends! Let me tell you a little story. This summer I got to meet the wonderful Jin from Superficially Colorful Lacquer. She traveled to the US from Israel and toured around for a few months, visiting friends and meeting up with a large group of us in Las Vegas. I not only got to hand with her in Vegas, but she also made a stop in San Francisco! I got to be tour guide and show Jin the sights. It was so very cool! The end. Ok that wasn't really the end because I am here to show you some special polish that Jin hauled along on her long trip with her to had deliver to us lucky gals. One of these is available in the shop, but the other was an exclusive...you'll have to read on to find out which is which. And of course the Superficially Colorful Lacquer shop is full of fabulous holos, thermals, textures and glitters. Be sure to check them out!

Let's start with Stay Classy Las Vegas. This polish was in the swag bag given out at the Cocktails and Colors event in Las Vegas. Stay Classy Las Vegas is a cherry red polish with gold and holo shimmer. This is one of those shades that looks lit from within, very glow-y effect. The formula was awesome and it applied easily. I used 2 coats of Stay Classy Las Vegas for full coverage. I finished with a layer of topcoat. Stay Class Las Vegas was a true event exclusive and isn't available for purchase.
And the other special polish is You Only Live Once!. Which I can only guess is a reference to Jin packing up and heading off for a 3 month vacation. Wouldn't it be awesome to do that!? You Only Live Once! is a "red leaning purple with golden and a bit of holo shimmer." This is a such a beautiful color! The formula was great - creamy and opaque. I used 2 coats of You Only Live Once! and a layer of topcoat. You Only Live Once! IS available to buy and you can get your bottle now for $9USD.

Superficially Colorful Lacquer LE Happy Hour Collection
Good morning! I really want to play catch up since I was computer-disabled for the last week so I hope you don't mind if you see more than a post a day from me for a bit. Today also happens to be my birthday so what better way to celebrate that with a post featuring some amazing thermal texture polishes, inspired by adult beverages?! These 4 limited edition beauties are from Superficially Colorful Lacquer. Jin was one of the first indie makers to come out with thermals...actually she was making them before she even had a shop going and had gifted them to friends to get opinions. Obviously we all loved them because she now has many uber popular and successful collections in a wide variety of finishes. But I just know that she has a soft spot for thermals, which makes me happy because she makes them so very well. I am over the moon excited to share this limited edition thermal texture collection with you. I'll be sharing pictures and recipes for each drink so you can try and make them at home if you so desire. Happy Hour will be available 4/26 at 12pm EST/5pm UTC. Alrighty, I don't want to waste your time talking so lets get to the pictures!

When I opened the package to check these babies out Steamy Affair was the first polish that screamed to me - HELLO LOVER! So I slapped it on for a #runmani (if you follow me on instagram you know what this is). The funny thing is I knew these were thermals but I forgot and kept wondering why my nails looked like different colors through my run. Steamy Affair is inspired by the drink of the same name and is a "metallic dark brown that changes to silver with a little bit of holographic glitter." The holo glitters make this one unique in the bunch and one of my favorites. The formula and application were spot on. Perfect coverage in 2 coats.
Steamy Affair:
1 oz Irish Cream
1 oz Coffee Liqueur
Sugar to taste
Hot coffee
Light cream
whipped cream if desired
Add Kahlua and Irish Cream to a coffee glass and stir. Fill with hot coffee and sugar to taste. Float light cream pr half and half on top.
COLD
HOT
Great Raspberry Flute (funny name) is inspired by a lemon-y cocktail. I've never heard of it but it sounds refreshing for a hot summer night. It "changes from medium blue to light green." I really liked the colors in this one. The texture is a bit different, there are no glitter particles so its more of a standard texture. Formula and application were both lovely. Great Raspberry Flute was a touch sheer so I did use 3 coats for full coverage.
Great Raspberry Flute:
2 oz Raspberry vodka (UV blue)
1/2 oz Triple Sec
1 oz lime juice
Shake all ingredients with ice in a cocktail shaker. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a lime wedge.
COLD
HOT
Cupid's Cup, inspired by the juicy pink cocktail, is a texture that changes form dark to light pink. This one is more of a subtle change but it's so pretty. All the pink/purple lovers out there will enjoy this one. I really love that it has the softest touch of gold sparkle to make it even more sweet. Cupid's Cup had fabulous formula and applies so easily. I used 2 coats for full coverage. And isn't it a cute drink?
Cupid's Cup:
2 oz Hypnotic Harmonie
1 oz Vodka
1/2 oz Cointreau
1/2 oz lime juice
Shake all ingredients with ice in a cocktail shaker. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with candy lips.
COLD
HOT
You know me, always saving my favorite for last. Tequila Sunrise is flat out amazing. The colors have me swooning - both for hot summer days and the tasty drink. Of course this one changes from a deep terra cotta red color to a soft apricot/orange shade. It also has that light touch of golden sparkle that is so lovely. Absolutely amazing. The formula and application of Tequila Sunrise were both spectacular. I used 2 coats for full coverage.
Tequila Sunrise:
1 - 1 1/2 oz Grand Marnier
3/4 oz Tequila - silver
4 oz orange juice
2 tsp grenadine
Shake Grand Marnier, tequila and orange juice with ice in a cocktail shaker. Stain into a chilled collins or highball glass. Top with grenadine and sever without stirring.

Superficially Colorful Lacquer Troubled Love Collection
Good evening all! I have a gorgeous Valentine's Day collection to show off today. This is the Troubled Love Collection from Superficially Colorful Lacquers and Jin did an amazing job with these colors. I love that she included several finishes and colors. It's a very well rounded collection. I also love the names! Jin was inspired by love songs that aren't really so lovey, but more so inspired by troubled love" songs, thus the name of the polishes. I definitely caught myself humming tunes as I swatches and checked out these beauties. The Troubled Love Collection will be available on Saturday 1/31 at 9am EST. Now let's delve in and take a peek at what we've got!

Up first we have Never There. I actually remember when Never There came out in 1998, I loved Cake so much back then (and still know all the words to their songs now). Never There is a "silver holographic polish with a touch of pink." The pink undertone is a really fabulous and makes for a nice unique touch to a silver holo polish. Formula and application of Never There were both awesome. I had full coverage in 2 coats. No topcoat.

Next is Tainted Love. I think everyone and their mama knows this song. Tainted Love is a "It is a tainted pink polish – a duo-chrome that shifts according to the light between green and violet." I thought this was a pretty unique color shifting polish. The first coat was sheer but it built up nicely. I ended up using 3 coats of Tainted Love and finished with topcoat. Tainted Love also shows the tiniest bit of brushstrokes, which is normal for non-holo chromes. So just be mindful of that and use as few brushstrokes as possible. And here's my favorite version of Tainted Love by Soft Cell for your listening enjoyment.

And now we're moving along to the reds! This is Don't Leave Me This Way. Jin was inspired by the Communards version of the song (HERE), but I will always think of the Thelma Houston version (HERE). Don't Leave Me This Way is a "red-orange crelly, with matte red glitter of different sizes and just a little bit of red matte hearts." The subtle addition of holo sparkle in here is perfection. I love the color, the finish, the light handed addition of glitters. Don't Leave Me This Way is one of my favorites of the collection! Formula and application were both fantastic! I used 3 coats and 1 layer of topcoat.

I Will Survive is a "A dark berry red jelly with holographic glitter in different sizes." It reminds me of a bright, summery raspberry! I Will Survive was super squishy and pretty. The addition of holo glitters was the perfect touch for that extra oomph in this jelly polish, they really glowed nicely in the sun. Formula and application were both great! I got full coverage with 3 coats of I Will Survive and no topcoat. Of course this is another song that everyone knows...I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor.

I saved my favorite for last - Foolish Heart. Jin is the thermal queen and for good reason. She has amazing color combinations and finishes in her thermal collection. This one was quite unique as far as the hot/cold colors go. The cold shade is like a dark crimson - leaning purple to a bright sienna red shade when warm. Due to the weather I had a hard time catching a good transitioning picture, but I did snap one of each shade so you'll know what you're getting. And actually you are sort of getting 3 colors in 1! The shade shown in most of my pictures is an in-between blend of the warm/cold states to create a totally different color! Foolish Heart had a perfect formula, smooth and opaque. It covered completely in 2 coats. It dries to a matte finish but I used topcoat to really show off that shimmery base! And here's Foolish Heart by Tegan and Sara.
