Nail Hoot Jeepers Creepers

Are any of  you ready for Halloween?  I am ALWAYS ready for Halloween.  It's my favorite holiday, I live for the decorations and love to dress up my kids.  I especially love scary movies and painting my nails with Halloween themed polish!  So this brings us the second post I wanted to share with you tonight!  A Halloween polish (YAY!) from Brandie at Nail Hoot!  Jeepers Creepers is available in the shop now and you can get your own bottle for $7 USD.  Let's jump in and check out this Halloween polish!

This is Jeepers Creepers, a shimmery orange jelly polish full of metallic orange hexs and black shards.  I found the first coat of Jeepers Creepers to be pretty sheer.  It did build up but I still had visible nail line.  I also had to pick a few of the black shards off because they were sticking up.  Brandie suggests that you can dab or sponge the polish on, which could help with the shards that aren't flat and keep streaks at bay.  I think the heavy shimmer caused a bit of a frosty look thus causing the streaks.  I ended up using 4 coats of Jeepers Creepers and a layer of topcoat.

Smitten Polish Halloween Duo: Fire Burn & Cauldron Bubble

Good evening ghosts and ghouls!  Tossing up a super quickie post to show you the stunning new Smitten Polish Halloween Duo.  There is going to be a restock on Saturday, 10/25 at 2pm central and these will both be available so I wanted to share just how amazing they are.  If you love black, orange, micro glitter, Halloween themed things then these are for you!  They are actually sold separately, not in a set and are $9USD each.  So let's hop on in and check out Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble.

*nothing to disclose*

I love orange polish.  Fire Burn is totally amazing and I want to paint everything in my house with it.  Fire Burn is a "bright orange jelly filled with two colors of tiny holographic glitter."  It flickers and flashes just like a flame.  I used 2 easy coats of Fire Burn for full coverage.  Formula and application were both spooktacular.  I finished with 1 layer of topcoat and was good to go with smooth, shiny nails.

And then there was Cauldron Bubble.  If my heart skipped a beat for Fire Burn then it just did a flip for Cauldron Bubble.  Cauldron Bubble is a "black jelly with just the barest hint of a purpley blue cast - a cooler toned black, filled with super fine holographic micro glitter."  It's completely amazing.  I love the slightly purple-black base, it's the perfect little touch of Halloween-ness.  And those teeny tiny micro glitters?  They get me every time.  Formula and application of Cauldron Bubble were both fangastic.  I used 2 coats to reach full coverage and finished up with 1 layer of topcoat for a glossy, slick finish.

I threw together a little gradient to show how you can wear these together for a perfect, and easy Halloween mani!  I started with 2 coats of Fire Burn as the base for all nails.  I then applied a couple strokes of Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble on top of a damp makeup sponge and lightly bounced the sponge on the base.  Ta-Da!  I love how the sponge didn't pick up all the pigment in Fire Burn and shows off the glitters in a more golden tone.  It looks like fire and smoldering embers on my nails!  I finished it up with 1 layer of topcoat.

Halloween Nail Art using Sally Hansen Halloween and NYC New York Color Hallween 2014

Good morning!  I'm back with some nail art!  Yesterday I shared a couple posts, Sally Hansen Halloween and NYC New York Color Midnight Beauty, they are all such perfect colors how could I not use them all together to create some fun Halloween nails?  So that's just what I did.  Let's go ahead and jump in to see!

The first look I went for was a classic black and white themed mummy mani.  I used Sally Hansen Scaredy MatteOMGhost and NYC New York Color Rock Muse Smoky Topcoat to create this look.  I love how these all worked together.  I feel like my nails are in a black and white horror flick.  I used topcoat on all but my index nail.

The second look I created is fun, happy little pumpkin mani!  I used Sally Hansen Pumpkin QueenOMGhostScaredy Matte and Fuzzy Coat Fur-ankenstein to create this look.  I'm happy with how my pumpkin turned out, he's so cheerful!  Of course I love the Fuzzy Coat nail too, being the bar glitter fan that I am.  I used topcoat on all nails.

Sally Hansen Halloween 2014 (partial review)

Good evening (late nigh?)!  I'm back with more Halloween shades to share with you.  This time it's the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri set and a new Fuzzy Topcoat!  The Halloween Collection is full of fast drying cremes and a beautiful matte.  I have never tried the Insta-Dri formula before and I found it quite fabulous!  I also have one of the new Fuzzy Coat polishes to show you - and yes, I love bar glitter!  The Halloween Collection and Fuzzy Coat duo are currently in stores and they are $4.99/$5.99 each.

*Sally Hansen is available at Rite Aid, Walgreens, CVS, Ulta and other drug and beauty stores

Up first is OMGhost, a stark white creme.  I found the formula nice and creamy, not chalky or streaky whatsoever.  I used 2 coats of OMGhost for full coverage and finished with 1 layer of topcoat.

The Pumpkin Queen is a perfect orange creme.  The formula was lovely, nice and creamy.  Such a smooth application too!  I reached full opacity in 2 coats of Pumpkin Queen.  I finished with 1 layer of topcoat.

Lastly I have Scaredy Matte.  This is a beautiful black matte with no shimmer.  It's just a perfectly flat black.  I love that it's not shiny, gives it a real edgy look.  Honestly it reminds me of black leather.  Formula and application of Scaredy Matte were both great.  Smooth formula with great coverage.  I used 2 coats of Scaredy Matte and no topcoat.

*the 4th polish in this collection is a shiny black creme - Fright Night.

Sally Hansen also released 2 new Fuzzy Coat polishes for Halloween.  I have Fur-ankenstein, a light lime green and black matte bar glitter topcoat.  I know these "hairy" glitters aren't for everyone but I personally love them.  Fur-ankenstein has a fabulous formula.  The glitters come out in abundance and spread easily across my nails.  I used 2 coats of Fur-ankenstein over Pumpkin Queen and OPI Funky Dunky on my accent nail.  I finished with 1 layer of topcoat.

*the other Fuzzy Coat is an orange and black mix called Watchful Thinking.

Zoya MatteVelvet Collection

Good evening!  I'm very happy to share this post with you because I think the Zoya MatteVelvet Collection consists of the sexiest polishes ever!  The colors are fantastic, the formula is perfect and the finish is amazing.  I am personally very excited that Zoya re-released this collection because I spent a good amount of time last year scouring through beauty supply stores looking for them (I'm sure many others did the same).  I have each polish from this collection shown in their regular matte finish and then with topcoat - they are all stunning both ways.  The MatteVelvet Collection is currently available for purchase and each bottle is $9 USD.  There is also a MatteVelvet Top Coat for $10 and a MatteVelvet red lipstick for $12.   Buy all the MatteVelvet things!

Dovima is a "smokey charcoal-black with strong silver shimmer and a velvety MATTEVELVET finish."  It's a wearable black that anyone can rock!  The silver shimmer is lovely.  I reached full opacity and perfect coverage in 2 coats of Dovima.

Loredana is a "medium gunmetal grey, packed with silvery shimmer and a velvety MATTEVELVET finish."  It looks like brushed metal and it's so cool!  Loredana had an awesome formula and applied perfectly.  I used 2 coats of Loredana for full coverage.

Posh is hands down my favorite of the 6-piece collection.  It's a gorgeous "medium cool-toned wine red with metallic red shimmer and a velvety MATTEVELVET finish."  Posh is such a luxurious color and definitely makes me feel sexy when I have it on.  I used 2 coats of Posh for full coverage.  Formula and application were both perfect.

Verushka is my second favorite in the collection.  Verushka is a "deep evergreen garnished with strong metallic shimmer in a velvety MATTEVELVET finish."  This screams Christmas to me.  Much like the previous shades, the formula and application are both wonderful.  No issues to report.  I used 2 coats of Verushka for perfect coverage.

Savita is a "bold, vibrant medium purple with strong red and gold shimmer with a velvet MATTEVELVET finish."  Such a pretty purple.  And the way that red shimmer shines through the base?  WOW!  Savita had a perfect formula and applied like a dream.  I used 2 coats of Savita to reach full opacity.

I saved Harlow for last because it was on my wish list for so long, I still can't believe that I own it.  Harlow is a "rich, saturated rose plum packed with sparkling metallic shimmer in a velvety MATTEVELVET finish."  The shimmer in Harlow seems to be in larger pieces, or possibly a higher quantity of shimmer?  But it totally works for this shade.  It's truly gorgeous and feminine and sexy at the same time.  Formula and application were both fabulous.  I used 2 coats of Harlow for full coverage.
