Glisten & Glow Love You To The Blue and Back

Good afternoon!  I've got a lovely polish to share with you now, from a brand that just started dabbling into creating colors after having such a huge success with base coat, topcoat, cuticle oil, scrubs and more!  Of course I'm talking about the ever popular Glisten & Glow!  I had the chance to meet and chat with Jill, the owner of the brand while after partying at CosmoProf.  She was such a fun and lively gal, I wish I lived closer so I could hang out with her more!  It was really awesome to see how excited she was about the color creations she had out to show us at the Sparkle & Wine event...I love when makers are as excited about polish as the wearers/buyers are.  Anyways, aside from the gorgeous blue holo that was featured in the July's A Box, Indied, she made a holo with glitter as well!  Aside from the topcoat and base coat you can also get other polish brands at the Glisten & Glow shop.  And until 9/1/14 you can use the code Cosmoprof14 to receive 10% off your order!  Let's jump on in and look at this fabulous creation!

Glisten & Glow: Shop, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter

This beauty is I Love You to the Blue and Back.  Jill describes it as a "steel blue holo with various shapes and sizes of metallic and matte blue, white, silver, navy, light blue and aqua glitters."  I love holos with glitter, they have so much going on and are so interesting to look at.  I Love You to the Blue and Back is really a beautiful polish and it definitely kept me staring at my nails to see all the different elements of the polish.  I Love You to the Blue and Back is packed full of glitter too!  I had a great glitter payoff with zero brush swirling or digging required.  The polish covered well and had a really nice formula. I only needed 2 coats for full coverage.

I also used the Stuck on Blu! base coat and HKGirl top coat - first time trying both and I was really impressed.  Stuck on Blu! is a fabulous base coat and as many of you already know HKGirl and a super shiny and long lasting topcoat.  If you haven't tried them yet now is a perfect time because you can use the coupon code!  I Love You to the Blue and Back was created in very limited supply, 30 bottles.  I'm not sure how many are left but it's still in stock and it is $10.50 a bottle.

Lumina Lacquer Birthday Night Out

Good morning (or afternoon depending on where you are) lovely readers!  I am currently working on some more spam posts for your enjoyments, but do have a few single polishes/manis to show off in the meantime.  This beauty is from Lumina Lacquer, a one of a kind gift that was sent to me for my birthday!  I'm a big fan of Luminas and this special polish is absolutely gorgeous and very special to me!  Birthday Night Out is a cobalt blue base that has a slightly metallic look, and is filled with flakies and holographic shimmer swimming about.  It reminds me of a star filled night sky or a glistening deep blue ocean.  The holo is very subtle in the pictures, but so much more prominent in real life, even in indoor lighting!  I used 2 coats of Birthday Night Out for perfect coverage and 2 layers of topcoat.

While this particular Lumina Lacquer isn't available for purchase there are many beautiful polishes that are, including glitters, solid colors and micro glitters!

Memorial Day Mani!

Good afternoon!  As most of us Americans are getting ready to enjoy a day off of work and school, firing up the BBQ's and drinking a few cold ones let's remember the real reason behind this holiday.  Memorial Day is a day of remembrance and gratefulness to those men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country.  To uphold the rights and freedom that we enjoy every day.  Today Americans remember the fallen soldiers who have served our great country.  I am very grateful for all the US soldiers, alive and passed on.  Thank you so much for your dedication to the USA.

For today I chose to go patriotic with my mani, but I needed to stay true to myself so I started out with 3 amazing holos!  Smitten Polish The First Lobster (red), Glitter Gal Light As A Feather (white) and Ninja Polish Glamorous (blue).  I topped them with a reverse glitter gradient of Lumina Lacquer Young Americans.  I seriously adore this red, white and blue glitter polish with all it's hearts, stars and circles!  I am very pleased with how my mani turned out.

Lumina Lacquer Homesick At Space Camp & Mickey's Moonlit Masquerade

Good morning!  Just wanted to pop in with a quickie post before I head out on my run and daily errands!  You know I love Lumina Lacquer and I had been searching high and low for this beauty - Homesick At Space Camp.  Well someone finally took pity on me and answered my call!  Man oh man am I over the moon happy that I have this.  Let's head over to the pictures to take a look, mmmmkay?

Lumina Lacquer: Shop, Facebook, Instagram

Homesick At Space Camp was a limited edition polish put out around last summer (my timeline could be totally wrong here).  I remember when it was released but I was so obsessed with glitters at the time that I paid it no mind.  Boy what a mistake.  Over time I have come to realize that solid/holos from Lumina are absolutely amazing.  I will not pass them up ever again.  Homesick At Space Camp is an amazing bright cobalt blue with a tight scattered holo.  The formula and application were both fantastic!  I used 2 coats for full coverage.  I also have on Lumina Lacquer Mickey's Moonlit Masquerade on my accent nails.  This was an LE put out around Halloween last year and it's a fun blend of glitter shapes in white, slier, purple, and blue.  The white stars and moons are especially adorable (and darn it no mouse head glitters wanted to come out this time).  I used 2 coats of Mickey's Moonlit Masquerade over 2 coats of Sheswai Totally (a plummy berry creme) and the application/formula on both of those were great.  I finished with 1 layer of topcoat.

Darling Diva Polish Denim Mitten

Guess what?  I won an art contest a while back.  It was fun, it was themed.  Hosted by Jen's Nail Files with 12 prizes up for grabs (all the same polish).  We were asked to take a name of a Darling Diva Polish and interpret it.  Well I saw a few that I really liked; Unicorn Bath, Stripper Pole, Slutty Pumpkin, but I settled on Angry Beaver.  LOL how could I not pick that one?  I drew a funny little angry beaver fellow on my nails with swear word symbols above his head.  Well surprisingly I was one of the winners!  So here's the lovely one (or 12) of a kind polish I won.  Please be sure to follow Jen at Jen's Nail Files and Darling Diva Polish (Facebook, Etsy, Llarowe, Mei Mei's Signatures).

Denim Mitten is a gorgeous blue holo and shimmer polish with glitter mixed in.  There are small blue hexs, iridescent purple glitters and medium purple circles.  The way the holo sparkle, rainbow glittering shimmer and micro glitters combine works very well and the effect is soft and sparkly.  I used 3 coats alone but when I wear it again I will likely layer it over a similar blue based creme polish because it was sheer.  Sheerness aside, the formula was lovely to work with and application was a breeze.  I used 1 layer of topcoat to shine things up!

Happy 4th of July Part 2!!

I'm baaaaack!  I couldn't do just one mani - nope, not me!  Here's another 4th of July mani for you to enjoy!  Maybe if you haven't done your nails yet you will get some inspiration from me or some of the other fabulous mani pics out there right now (blogger & non-blogger)!

This skittlette is so much fun!  I have been enjoying if for my second day now and I can't stop checking out my own nails!
Here's the breakdown:
Thumb/ring: 2x NOPI Challenge Red-y, 2-3x Lumina Lacquer Young Americans
Index: 2x OPI Solitaire
Middle/pinky: 2x Ninja Polish Glamorous

Young Americans is a fantastic red, white and blue glitter bomb.  It is so much fun, and I love David Bowie so how could I pass up on this polish?  YA is a clear base packed full of stars, hearts, circles, hexs, shards and micro glitter.  The formula and application was on par with all the other Luminas I have reviewed (awesome and gorgeous).  Tons of glitter came out with each brush dip and it spread easily on my nails.  I did use topcoat AND Gelous on the glitter nails to a smooth finish.  Glamorous is, well, what can I say.  It's amazing!  What a stunning blue holo it is.  And the formula?  To die for!  If you need a blue holo this is the one you should get!  I used 2 coats and 1 layer of topcoat.
