Revvvolution & Lucky Numbers

I've loved this Lynnderella for so long.  I feel like I was waiting for the perfect reason to wear it - I think that perfect reason was a trip to Vegas.  Since I'm home with 3 kids and have to adhere to a school schedule, and now have a part-time job that hasn't happened.  So I'm wearing it today just because.  Maybe I was feeling lucky today - maybe because I'm wearing it I will be lucky soon.  Either way, Lynnderella Lucky Numbers is uber gorg!

I didn't know what I was going to do with this mani - I didn't want to layer it over white because that seemed too easy, though that would be perfect for Vegas, right?  I finally decided to layer it over a grey holo.  Color Club Revvvolution to be exact.  You can still see the holo under the red shimmer in the sunlight - I think a couple pictures actually capture it well!

Lynnderella's as many of you know, are extremely difficult to get your hands on.  If you are trying I suggest you be patient.  It will happen eventually.  Lucky Numbers is from Lynnderella's holiday 2011 collection.  It's a sheer red shimmer base packed with red and black glitter pieces; bars, squares, hexs and micro.  Fun stuff in there.  The red shimmer is really beautiful, especially over the grey underwear - it really glows!  I used 2 coats of LN.

Color Club Revvvolution is a gunmetal grey scattered holo.  It's a beauty too.  I used 1 coat and got great coverage.  If I was going to wear Revvvolution alone I would have done 2 coats.

You can order Lynnderella's for $15 each from Llarowe.  She goes by a wish list system, and you can only send your list when she is open.  Follow her on Facebook and email notifications from her website to get your list submitted when she re-opens.

Peanut Butter and Jelly

My favorite sandwich - yum!  I have always loved peanut butter and jelly.  It's delicious and it's a classic.  Peanut Butter & Jelly created by Whimsical Ideas by Pam is an absolute stunner.  It captures all that peanut butter and jelly goodness in one beautiful polish.  It's a fabulous raspberry jelly full of golden micro glitter and gold hexs.  This polish has the look of a jelly sandwich without actually having to make one.  I did my first jelly sammy a few weeks ago - you can see the post here.  But I digress, back to pb&j.

I used 2 coats of pb&j with a top coat.  I got excellent coverage and great glitter placement on my nails.  Some glitter seems to be under polish layers, some sits on top - it's a glitter smorgasbord!  I didn't have to fish or dig for any glitter.  PB&J has a wonderful juicy-jelly look that I love.  This is the first time I have said it, but this quite possibly is one of my top 10 favorite nail polishes.

You can get Peanut Butter & Jelly, and many other unique and lovely polishes from Pam's Facebook page: Whimsical Ideas By Pam.  They are $10 each.

Purple Holos

I love me some holo, and I love me some purple!!  I received these Color Club holos from the Dandy-Nails blog sale (Sandy has lots of fun stuff on her sale so keep an eye out for some HTF gems!).  Today I'm wearing Wild At Heart and Fashion Addict.  I love these colors together, so pretty, so fun.  Fashion Addict is a light purple that has beautiful linear holo.  Fashion Addict is a bright, bold purple that also has a slight linear holo.  Fashion Addict is a stronger holo than Wild At Heart, but both are beautiful in their own right - actually some of the most beautiful purples I own.  I used 2 coats of each color with no top coat.  Unfortunately I had some serious chippage early in my wear time, maybe because I didn't use a top coat and was doing some heavy cleaning.  No matter, I did some quick touch up, but still didn't put a top coat because sometimes it takes away from the holo effect and from my tester it looked like it would happen with these.    Fashion Addict on ring, pinky and thumb.  Wild At Heart on pointer and middle fingers.

Easter Nails

I'm no artist so I don't do nail art.  But I did want to wear something festive for Easter.  Like everyone else I think of pastel colors, dyed eggs, candy, Easter basket grass, stuffed bunnies and the like.  I found this fun bar glitter polish at Walgreens the other day and it made me think of basket grass.  I pulled out a few different polishes to see which would look best with the bar glitter - I tried green , turquoise, purple. But I liked pink the best.

I used OPI  Pink Friday from the Niki Minaj collection.  It's a creamy bubblegum pink - the most Barbie-ish pink I own.  When I look at it all I can think of is the lipstick Niki Minaj wears.  I used 2 coats of Pink Friday.  The first coat is a little streaky, the second evens out well.  As I said before this pink is very creamy, it does not look chalky at all like some pastels do.  I then put 2 coats of Sally Hansen Into the Spotlight.  It's a fun bar glitter that flashes rainbow colors.  I used 2 coats and while I like it, I wish more glitter was on my nail.  I can't imagine how many coats it would take to get dense coverage like Ciate Jewel (which I would LOVE to own!).  Far too many I assume.

Mermaid's Dream

When I saw promo information about this polish I literally swooned.  I enjoy Deborah Lippmann polish as much as the next girl, but I desperately needed Mermaid's Dream.  I think this is the one that made me ga-ga crazy over any polish that is turquoise or sea foam green, OR is named "mermaid.'  Once I got my jaw off the floor I began stalking it - on blogs for swatches, calling stores for release dates.  I wanted it soooo bad!  Funny thing, once it was in my possession I kept it in my un-trieds box for over a month!  What is wrong with me, why did I wait so long to wear it?  I'm so ashamed.  But I made amends and put it on this morning.  I am literally in love with it!  I think this is one I will wear all summer long!  Trips to the beach, yes.  Trips to the park, yes.  Trips to weekend mini-vacations, yes.  Trip to Hawaii, yes please!!

On to the details: Mermaid's Dream really is a dream.  It is a sea foam green base that is foil-y looking.  There are small turquoise glitter pieces and micro-glitter that flashes silver and gold.  The overall look is a beautiful shiny and sparkly nail - what I imagine a mermaid tail would look like. I used 2 coats, be generous with your coats - a little does not go a long way.  I did not use a top coat.  I like the texture showing through and a top coat would likely have taken away from it.  After wearing for a day tiny spots on the tips of my nails started to chip - maybe because I didn't put on a top coat.  No matter, I still LOVE this polish.  I probably could have used one more coat as I can see a few teeny places where my nail is showing through.  In real life it's not noticeable.

I present to you Deborah Lippmann Mermaid's Dream…insert applause here.

HazeGlaze Gems

Today's post features Gems by indie designer Hazel from HazeGlaze.  It is a beautiful and surprisingly understated polish.  By looking at the bottle I expected in your face glitter.  But on the nail it was more like a beautifully light sprinkling of holo particles with sparse larger hex pieces.  I already had on Zoya Naomi - you can see the post for it here.  Gems is a sheer red tinted base with loads of silver, green, purple, pink and turquoise glitter hexs.  There are 2 sizes of glitter hexs and tons of micro glitter.  Over Naomi Gems turned into a lovely rosey-pink.  I think if I layered it over a pink or red it would be even more beautiful and deeper color!

I did shake the bottle heartily to make sure all the glitter mixed up well and I got a good variety on my nails.    Honestly, when I looked at my nails in the sunlight it reminded me of that nude glitter jumpsuit Britney Spears wore back in her glory days.  Of course these pics do no justice to the glitter and holo in Gems, trust me, it's a beauty.  I used 2 layers of Gems on top of Zoya Naomi.  *Sorry for the tip wear - didn't get to take pics as soon as I'd wanted to.

Zoya Naomi

Today I started my new job!  It's part-time job and very close to home and Noah's school, bonus.  But I had to leave Julian and Naomi at home with my Mother-In-Law.  It had been a rough few days building up to today, but I made it through.  I think one of the main reasons is that I did a quickie mani change before I had to start work and chose Zoya Naomi to wear.  Not only is it a beautiful color, but it made me think of my daughter every time I looked at my nails (I though of her and Julian most of the day anyways).  Naomi is a champagne colored shimmer.  Almost kind of frosty.  I used 2 coats and it was still a bit sheer, the nail line is visible.  Naomi is also a little brush-strokey.  But I still like it because it's SFW and clean looking.  Sorry for any stray glitter…OPI Rainbow Connection wasn't ready to come off.

On to the swatches.

Just for kicks here is a picture of my Naomi.
