Let Me Fly + Sequins

Are you a Cultie?  If not come join us (using index finger to beckon you)!!  Maria, the creator or Cult Nails makes some seriously fantastic kool-aid, I mean lacquer.

Recently there was a $5 sales and I planned on getting Captivated and Seduction.  I ended up with Captivated and Let Me Fly.  I know it was the color alone that spoke to me because I had never paid much attention to LMF.  I was so happy when it arrived because it is really beautiful.  LMF is a turquoise/teal with  silver shimmer.  The formula was very nice, full coverage, even and smooth in 2 coats.  I'm very happy I picked this one out!

I chose Jordana Sequins to wear as an accent nail over Let Me Fly.  Jordana has some fun glitters that make great accents and topcoats.  Sequins is a red glitter with blue, fuchsia, silver, gold and peach colored hexs.  I used 2 coats on my ring finger nail.  Coverage was good - no digging for glitter, and it spread out easily.

You can get Cult Nails from a few places but I'd recommend going straight to the source because Maria is so nice, http://shop.cultnails.com/.  Jordana, as far as I know, is only available at Kmart.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Nail Art Contest

I am entering a nail art contest.  It's my first ever.  It's also my first attempt at nail art, ever.  The contest was put on my Dee at Rainbow Honey - have you seen her polishes?  They are stunning!

The theme is My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.  Isn't that cute?  I've always loved My Little Pony…they made me want a pony.  But tell me a little girl who didn't want to own a pretty pony growing up?  I don't think you can.   Since I have only boys who are of age to play with such toys, I had to enlist the help of my bestie and her daughter Izzy.  They took pictures of Izzy's MLP's and sent them to me.  I really liked the "brand" on the ponies rear end and how animated, yet pretty the eyes are.  So I decided to capture both of those things on my nails.  Then because they are horses I did a good luck horseshoe on my pinky.  Fun glitter on my remaining two nails finished off the mani.

I hope you like it…remember, it's my first attempt at art.  My hand was steadier than I thought it would be and the nail art polish was also easier to use than I had imagined.

White base - Orly Au Champagne
Purple glitter/hearts - Jordana Lilac Hearts
Blue glitter - Julep Portia
Black holo glitter - Jordana The Artist
Pink heart - Hits Afrodite
Blue in the eye - Sinful Colors Cinderella

Iseult + Shape Shifter

I got to escape for a girls night out last night.  My best friends from Idaho is in town and we wanted to have a little no-kid fun.  Since they are few and far between, I decided to go big with my nails with something fun, girly, blingy.  I chose A-England Iseult topped with Lynnderella Shape Shifter.  Whoa - it came out awesome!

I started with 2 coats of Iseult.  It's a beautiful light pink with silver shimmer.  The nail line is still visible, but I think 1 more coat would have made it opaque.  Iseult was easy to work with, not too thick or thin and evened out after the first coat.  I love how dainty and ladylike it is.  Against my skin it's almost a pink-nude!

Lynnderella Shape Shifter doesn't really need an "introduction."  But here's a little one anyway.  It's multi-shaped holographic glitter in a clear base.  There are hexs, bars, diamonds, moons, stars, hearts and micro-glitter.   The fun shapes are like little surprises, you never know when they will appear and it's so exciting when they do.  I got a diamond and a moon this time I used Shape Shifter!  The glitter is easy to apply, with a good amount coming out on the brush with each dip.  And wow, the glitter is beautiful - it flashes some serious rainbows!  It's like a disco ball on my fingers!  I used 2 coats of Shape Shifter on top of Iseult.  Finished it all off with a layer topcoat.

You can order A-England from their website or Llarowe.  Lynnderella is only available through Llarowe, and you have to sign up for email notifications to join a wish-list.  It's worth it, trust me.

PS - I had waaaaay too much fun and am paying the price for it today.  ):

Across The Universe + Hera

I love turquoise and teal (and sea foam green).  Like you couldn't tell.  So this combination of fabulous has me swooning.  I have spent the majority of the day staring at or showing off my nails.  I'm pretty dang pleased with myself right now because of how great this combo turned out.

I started with 2 coats of OPI Ski Teal We Drop as the underwear.  STWD is a very pretty teal creme and it applied smoothly and fully opaque in 2 coats.  I decided to have a little fun with the stars of the show and alternated polish on each nail of each hand.  For both Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe and Hits Hera I used 2 coats.

Across the Universe is a drop-dead gorgeous glitter bomb.  It's a dark blue base full of blue shimmer and hexs in green and light blue.  It applied perfectly, no sparse glitter, no digging for hexs, and it went on smoothly with no dragging.  I used 1 layer of top coat to seal it all in and make it uber shiny.

Hits Hera is a holo from the No Olimpo collection that everyone was gaga for a few months back.  I'm still gaga for the collection and this is a primo example of why it was so sought after.  Hera is a stunning teal linear holo.  You don't need much sunlight for her to show off her beauty.  Hera applied smoothly with no dragging, no patches, no fuss.  Topcoat didn't effect the holo effect.

You can get Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe at Nordstrom or HSN.  You can purchase Hits No Olipmo (and other lines from Hits) at Llarowe.  Happy shopping!

Are Mermaids Real? + Full Spectrum

Good morning!  Today I am wearing a fun purple french style mani!  It's fun, it's purple and it's sparkly.

I'll start with Are Mermaids Real? by Spoiled - a line created by Wet n Wild.  There is a huge range of colors, but the one that has always caught my eye is Are Mermaids Real?  AMR? is a beautiful medium toned purple with heavy gold shimmer.  It's a really beautiful combination and a unique polish, at least in my collection.  I used 2 coats of AMR? to reach full coverage.  My only qualm with this polish - not so much this polish in particular, but the entire Spoiled line, is that the brush is awful.  It's HUGE!  It is the widest brush I have ever used, it's literally wider than my pinkie nail.  So you have to be careful to not paint your skin.

I wanted to bling it up (as usual) and decided to paint sparkle tips.  I used China Glaze Full Spectrum from the new-ish Prismatics line.  Full Spectrum is a purple shimmer with small green and silver glitter pieces.  It's really beautiful and sparkly.  And it goes really well with ARM?!  I free handed the french tips, using 2 coats of FS.  Then I topped it all off with a coat of out the door topcoat.

Good news about these polishes - you can get China Glaze Prismatics at beauty supply stores like Sally's and Ulta for around $7.  Spoiled is at CVS for $1.99.
