Let's Eat Sushi + Multi-Colored Glitter Shards

Who wants sushi?  I do - as long as it's one of the hundreds of variations of a California Roll.  I'm not very adventerous when it comes to raw seafood, yuck cold and slimy!  That stuff needs to be cooked for this gal to eat it.

I bought Spoiled Let's Eat Sushi a while back because it was a pretty in-between color.  Not pink, not orange.  More of a coral-salmon color.   LES isn't a bright summer color - maybe more of a spring color?  But I really like it.  And it had a wonderful surprise (which you won't see in these pictures, it's an IRL surprise).  An extremely subtle shimmer.  Gorgeous!  I used 2 coats and application was great!  Smooth, creamy, really lovely.  If you see any application errors they are the fault of my top coat which decided to go all gooey and stringy on me.  Boo on you topcoat.  Spoiled is a brand by Wet N' Wild and is available at CVS for $1.99.  Be sure to watch for the $0.99 sales!

A friend found a couple bottles of Love & Beauty shredded multi-colored glitter.  Guess what…it's a dupe for Cult Nails Happy Ending.  And it's only $2.99.  So save yourself some hard earned dinero and buy this one from Forever21 instead.  PSA over - you're welcome.  This glitter went on so much better than I expected (because F21 is kind of a discount store and I think their clothes fall to pieces after one wear/wash so I didn't expect much from the polish).  I was WRONG!  The glitter came out easily and in plentitude!  I used 2 coats on my middle and ring fingers.  What a fun accent it is!!  A coat of topcoat finished it all off.

Have you shopped F21 nail polish?  Which do you have, which would you recommend?  What about Spoiled nail polish?  Do you have any yet?  Which are your favorites?

My friend Dulce and I had so much fun with our 1st swap we decided to arrange a 2nd.  Neither of us wasted any time obtaining items for our packages.  Actually I literally started the day after I sent the last box because I found one of the items on her wishlist.  Dulce started sending me pictures of polish she picked out very shortly after that.  But I decided to use her wish list and polish that I personally liked and kept it all a big secret!  'Cause that's how I roll!  Well we shipped our packages and mine arrived 2 days ago!!  I was seriously like a kid in candy store!  Everything I unwrapped might as well have had Christmas lights strung around it!  I loved it all, every single piece of it!

Treasure + Hologram Sparkle

I think this is probably the quickest mani that I have put on and taken off.  Don't get me wrong, I liked it.  But I wasn't really feeling it.  Maybe I am just a linear holo kind of gal.

I found a bottle of Nubar Treasure at a local beauty supply and snatched it up.  I wanted to love it, but alas I only liked it.  Treasure was very sheer.  3 coats and I could still see my nail line.  So this is definitley a polish you want to layer over a similar colored base.  On a positive note there were zero application problems.  It went on evenly and smoothly.  Not too thick or thin.  Formula was nice.  The sheerness is the only thing that bothered me about Treasure.  I didn't use topcoat.

I did an accent nail with Nubar Hologram Sparkle.  HS is another scattered holo, but more along the lines of a glitter.  The effect is very subtle over Treasure, but it looks really lovely.  I want to try HS over a dark color to see it in full sparkly yumminess.  I only used 1 coat HS and no top coat.

So what did you think of these Nubars?  Should I try again to love 'em or throw them in my swap pile?

Happy Endings + White Polka Dots

I did a little reorganization last night…moving the majority of my untried polish into my helmer.  It gave me a good look at some of the pretty polish I have been neglecting.  I pulled out Sinful Happy Endings and Nubar White Polka Dots.  I felt it would be a happy combination.

Sinful Happy Endings is a bright but not neon lime green.  It has a lot of fun shimmer, gold, yellow, pink, blue.  In the sunlight you will see that the yellow shimmer really stands out from the other colors.  This was a 2 coater, perfectly evened out and smooth.  It dried kind of dull, but a top coat really brought out the gloss and shimmer.

I wanted to put a little fun flare on HE of course.  I decided to try Nubar White Polka Dots. It was light, summery, fun.  Nice compliment to the green.  WPD is packed full of white micro glitter and medium sized hexs.  The glitter came out easily and I got nice coverage on the nail.  I used 2 coats of WPD on my ring fingers.

What do you think of this combination?  Did it work?

Coral Glam + Clown Puke

I am going on a no-buy month for August.  I've decided to use as many untrieds from my stash as I can.  I have too many - almost as many as I have tried and stored away in my helmer.  It's just so hard to not buy them when they are all so pretty!  I do have 3 scheduled purchases and items arranged from July that won't count since they were previous comittments.  But I have been doing great - day 3, no purchases.  I almost faltered in Target today when I saw the new Fall Nicole by OPI collection!  There are 2 colors that slightly remind me of the Mish Mash line from Ozotic.  For Gold Times Sake particularly called to me.  I even swatched the two on my nail.  I carried them around for a brief time then quickly put them back.  Oye that was hard.  STICK TO MY GUNS!!!

Anywho enough of the sad no-buy talk - here are 2 untried polishes that I wanted to show some la-la-love.  Layla Coral Glam and KBShimmer Clown Puke.

I went all bonkers for the Layla Hologram Effects when they first came out and got almost all of them.  I love holos, what can I say.  Coral glam seemed like an interesting color - not pink, not champagne, slightly coral, kind of peach, so full of holo goodness that I couldn't pass up on it.  I am really happy to say CG was very easy to apply.  Not like Flash Black with it's streaky and patchy issues.  I did use 3 coats because it was very sheer and I was trying to cover the nail line.  I only used 1 coat on my ring finger because I wanted that to be my glitter accent.  I did not use a topcoat.

On my ring finger I chose KBShimmer Clown Puke as an accent glitter.  I used 1 coat of CG, but should have used 2 - sorry you can see my lovely yellow nail stainage under the glitter.  I bought Clown Puke #1 for the name and #2 because I love multi-colored glitter bombs.  Honestly - there is so much awesome glitter in CP that I am not even going to begin to describe what's in the mix.  Lets just say it's a rainbow in a bottle.  Full of sizes that range from micro to extra large and in a wide variety of shapes.  I used 3 coats of CP and I think I could have used 1 more to get full coverage.  But I was worried about removal and decided to stop.  I didn't have to dig for glitter, but I think the nail would be covered more easily with a wider brush.  I used a coat of Gelous (YES!  I got a bottle - and NO buying top/base coats do not count against my no-buy).

So what do you think of my declared no-buy?  Think I will stick to it?  Do you like this combination..holo and glitter?

My Lifesaver + A Million Sparkles

Quick post - really just want to show you the pictures of these 2 polishes.

My Lifesaver is a "Tiffany" turquoise-blue creme.  Light, pretty, reminds me of a robins egg.  A lovely color for spring and summer.  It went on streaky with the first coat but evened out nicely with the second.  It was a tad thick but not hard to manage.

I used tape to make diagonal lines on 8 digits (not on my thumbs) so the glitter coat A Million Sparkles would show, but ML woudn't be fully covered.  I've seen AMS over darker foily blues and thought layering it over a lighter blue would be a fun combination as well - and I really like the way the 2 look together.  AMS is full of small round gold glitter, pink bars, blue bars and blue micro-glitter.  The blue is what I would call an electic color blue, not royal or standard blue.  It was sheer with the first coat, but a thick second coat helped darken up the glitter accents.  The glitter came out really easily.  I actually liked the brushes provided with these bottles.  The brush is flat-ish and slightly wider than OPI which makes it easy to get a coat done in one stroke.

I used 2 coats of topcoat becasue the glitter was slightly gritty.  And no, I still don't have Gelous.  Argh, maybe I should take care of that today.
