Look Around + Eager Eyes

I'm sure you have heard of Dandy Nails by now - and if not are you living under a rock?!  Teasing.  Sandy, the creator, spends lots of time perfecting each formula and making sure the product is of A+ quality.  I have reviewed Wonderwall here and I loved that polish.  Today I have 2 more to share and they equally stunning!

Look Around is a soft green polish full of gorgeous holo micro glitter.  This baby really sparkles in the sunlight.  It even sparkles quite a bit indoors!  It's hard to explain the effect - almost like the holo particles give the polish a frosted look, as if they are floating on top of the polish when in fact they are mixed in.  I used 2 coats and got great coverage.   No application errors what so ever.

Eager Eyes is one of Dandy Nails newest releases.  It's basically the blue brother of Look Around.  Same great formula, same beautiful holo particles.  But the base is a beautiful soft cornflower blue.  2 coats of the Eager Eyes and I had the same results, wonderful formula, great coverage.  No streaking, dragging, bald spots.  Very quick dry time and 1 layer of topcoat for totally smooth, glittery, holo-y goodness.

I really hope Sandy puts out a purple or pink version of this polish because it would make amazing skittles!  Can you imagine?  You can follow Dandy Nail on Facebook or shop her esty page when it is open.

Ira + Black Spotted

I have international nails on for you in this post!  I received Cliche Ira from my friend Dulce in Portugal and OPI Black Spotted from my friend Michaela in France.  It's a smorgasbord of countries up in here!

I picked Cliche Ira as the underpants for Black Spotted thinking it was a bit brighter - more like China Glaze Riveting.  I would have just used Riveting, but I am trying to burn through my untrieds (and I'll be damned if they aren't like Gremlins and keep growing after midnight - I promise I don't feed them or give them water).  Ira is a really pretty color, just not what I was expecting.  Ira is a red-orange polish with orange and golden glass fleck polish in the bottle, but on the nail it translated to more of a raspberry color.  Still very pretty.  It was sheer, but built up nicely in the 2 coats I used.  Ira went on smoothly and it definitley has that same kind of glow as Riveting, just not as bright of a color.  I will absolutely wear it again because I loved the red raspberry color, and now that I know what it looks like IRL I can plan accordingly how to pair it.

OPI Black Spotted is a very unique polish.  Unlike anything I have used before.  I used 1 thin coat on top of each painted nail.  I read that you want to use thin coats or the effect won't work.  So I did just that, but probably could have tried for an even thinner layer.  BS went on like water - so liquidy.  And it immediatley pooled up into the shapes you see in an oil spill on pavement.  The reaction was something much like what you would get mixing water and oil.   I waited until it was dry and slathered on a layer of top coat.

First I have to say sorry.  I am a horrible nail painter when it comes to red polishes.  I can't seem to clean it up well and my fingers look all, well, painted.  Second - I really like Black Spotted.  Such a unique polish!  Unfortunately it was only made available in France - WHY, WHY OPI??  If you can manage to get your hands on it I highly suggest you do…it is 100% worth it!!

Smurf Dance!

I have something really awesome to show you today!  Smurf Dance is a beauty that was created by Pam from Girly Bits.  I LOVE-LOVE it…it's really a fun polish and you know I like fun!  SD if a lightly tinted blue base full of so much glitter I don't know if I can describe it all, but I will do my best!  I see white and royal blue bars, medium and large matte white hexs and squares, small and medium royal blue hexs and LOADS of micro-holo particles!  SD went on smoothly, no stray glitter or any pieces sticking up.  I used 2 coats and got plenty of glitter coverage.  A good variety of what I saw in the bottle made it on to my nail.  I used a thick coat of topcoat and SD is nice and smooth to the touch.  It's really stunning!

SD would be too sheer to wear on it's own, and I felt layering it over a blue would hide the blue glitters.  I opted to use OPI Skull & Glossbones as the underpants.  S&G is a creamy white-ish grey polish.  I used 2 coats of S&G.  I think the combination worked great!

I believe Smurf Dance is a LE color.   You can keep updated on upcoming colors and collections by following Pam's blog or go straight to her store and order some of her other amazing polishes!

Let's Go Crazy

Dearly Beloved…we are gathered here today to get through this thing called life.  Deborah Lippmann named her Nordstrom Annual Sale exclusive polish Let's Go Crazy.  If you didn't catch the reference, it's after the Prince song Let's Go Crazy.

I missed LGC the first time it was available on the Nordstrom website.  I was sad indeed.  Then I saw it reappear one day with a shipping date a few weeks out.  Since I just couldn't miss it again, unless I wanted to cry glittery tears, and had a Nordstrom Note to use I couldn't pass it up.  When LGC arrived at my door I did a little happy dance and introduced him to his siblings.  True story.

Here are the deets on LGC.  It's a purple jelly like base, so dark that in some lights it's almost a black.  In the sunlight you can see that it's a sheer purple.  LGC is also packed to the brim with glitter.  Mostly consisting of medium and small hexs in a variety of colors: blue, green, gold, fuchsia.  But there is so much glitter the polish is quite gloppy and thick.  It was pretty hard to spread due to it's thickness, but there was no drag.  LGC covered the nail evenly as well.  I probably don't even have to say it but I will.  The glitter came out easily and in plentitude.  I didn't have my Gelous with me, but it probably would have hidden the textured feeling of the polish.  I used 2 coats of topcoat.

I didn't love Let's Go Crazy like I thought I would.  It was so thick it was hard to use.  Now I'm sad again.  Do you have Let's Go Crazy? What do you think of it?

Let's Eat Sushi + Multi-Colored Glitter Shards

Who wants sushi?  I do - as long as it's one of the hundreds of variations of a California Roll.  I'm not very adventerous when it comes to raw seafood, yuck cold and slimy!  That stuff needs to be cooked for this gal to eat it.

I bought Spoiled Let's Eat Sushi a while back because it was a pretty in-between color.  Not pink, not orange.  More of a coral-salmon color.   LES isn't a bright summer color - maybe more of a spring color?  But I really like it.  And it had a wonderful surprise (which you won't see in these pictures, it's an IRL surprise).  An extremely subtle shimmer.  Gorgeous!  I used 2 coats and application was great!  Smooth, creamy, really lovely.  If you see any application errors they are the fault of my top coat which decided to go all gooey and stringy on me.  Boo on you topcoat.  Spoiled is a brand by Wet N' Wild and is available at CVS for $1.99.  Be sure to watch for the $0.99 sales!

A friend found a couple bottles of Love & Beauty shredded multi-colored glitter.  Guess what…it's a dupe for Cult Nails Happy Ending.  And it's only $2.99.  So save yourself some hard earned dinero and buy this one from Forever21 instead.  PSA over - you're welcome.  This glitter went on so much better than I expected (because F21 is kind of a discount store and I think their clothes fall to pieces after one wear/wash so I didn't expect much from the polish).  I was WRONG!  The glitter came out easily and in plentitude!  I used 2 coats on my middle and ring fingers.  What a fun accent it is!!  A coat of topcoat finished it all off.

Have you shopped F21 nail polish?  Which do you have, which would you recommend?  What about Spoiled nail polish?  Do you have any yet?  Which are your favorites?

Treasure + Hologram Sparkle

I think this is probably the quickest mani that I have put on and taken off.  Don't get me wrong, I liked it.  But I wasn't really feeling it.  Maybe I am just a linear holo kind of gal.

I found a bottle of Nubar Treasure at a local beauty supply and snatched it up.  I wanted to love it, but alas I only liked it.  Treasure was very sheer.  3 coats and I could still see my nail line.  So this is definitley a polish you want to layer over a similar colored base.  On a positive note there were zero application problems.  It went on evenly and smoothly.  Not too thick or thin.  Formula was nice.  The sheerness is the only thing that bothered me about Treasure.  I didn't use topcoat.

I did an accent nail with Nubar Hologram Sparkle.  HS is another scattered holo, but more along the lines of a glitter.  The effect is very subtle over Treasure, but it looks really lovely.  I want to try HS over a dark color to see it in full sparkly yumminess.  I only used 1 coat HS and no top coat.

So what did you think of these Nubars?  Should I try again to love 'em or throw them in my swap pile?
