Live and Let Die + Mister Grinch

Who doesn't love the Grinch?  He's such a nasty wasty skunk!  I mean seriously, he really is a heel.  I personally like both movies, the original cartoon and the Jim Carey version, though I know the second is less popular.  This year there was an abundance of Grinch polishes and I have a very pretty one to share with you today.

I started this mani with 2 coats of OPI Live and Let Die.  LaLD is a pretty hunter green with gold shimmer.  I had no application problems with LaLD, it went on smoothly and was nearly a one coater.  I did use 2 coats though.

Then I used Red Dog Designs Mister Grinch.  Mister Grinch is a super fun combination of matte white hexs, light green matte hexs, red hexs, holo shimmer AND small red hearts!!  Because we all know the Grinch's small heart grew three sizes that day.  I used 1 coat of Mister Grinch and did get a good variety of glitter with each brush dip.  Very minor fishing for the hearts, but I did end up with several on both hands.  I topped this with 1 layer of Gelous and then a layer of topcoat.

Visit Red Dog Designs on Facebook for new collection updates and the link to the store.

Smooth Sailing + Bunny Slope

Here's a purty combo for you…and I've been waiting ages to try out Bunny Slope!  I don't know why I do that!  I need to try to use my new polishes in a much faster manner so I can love them more.

Anywho, I started with Essie Smooth Sailing.  Smooth Sailing is a gorgeous cornflower blue with pink and teal shimmer.  Great formula!  I used 2 coats.

I then used CrowsToes Bunny Slope.  Bunny Slope is a mega matte white glitter bomb with silver holo hexs.  It went on quite thickly, but it wasn't difficult to manage.  The bonus to it being so thick and loaded with glitter is that I only needed 1 coat for full glitter coverage!  I smoothed things out with 1 layer of Gelous and then a layer of topcoat.

I used a different camera for these pictures, my Nikon SLR (I usually use my little digital Cannon).  How do you think they came out?

All Tied Up + Common Sense

I always say it's gonna be a quickie post, but I really mean it this time!  For this gorgeous mani, I started with 2 coats of Essie All Tied Up.  ATU is a very pretty dark dusty pink polish with a stunning gold shimmer.  Definitely one of those pretty polishes that makes great undies or surprisingly cherished palette cleansers.  Formula was really nice, no application issues.  I then topped it with Lynnderella Common Sense.  I'd been drooling over Common Sense for a LONG while…it's one of those rose, gold, copper glitter combinations that I ADORE with all my heart.  Who knew I was a rose gold girl, I sure didn't (at least until my hubby bought me a rose gold Cartier ring a few years back - then I was hooked).  CS is a wonderful formula, no issues spreading the glitter and no shortage of bling with each brush dip.  I only needed 1 layer of topcoat.

*Sorry for the shoddy pictures, it was a very overcast day with I wore this.

2Nite + Little Starry Night

I feel embarrassed that I had a polish from the China Glaze OMG collection in my stash for months and hadn't tried it…until now!  And wow did it make the absolute perfect base for my new Lynnderella!

So I started with 2 coats of China Glaze 2Nite.  2Nite is a gorgeous cornflower blue linear holo.   The first coat was thin, streaky and pooled.  The second coat went on much smoother and evened everything up perfectly.

I then used Lynnderella Little Starry Night on top.  Hello gorgeous!  LSN is so beautiful!  It's a small bottle of magic I tell ya!  Mini holo silver stars, very fine silver holo bars, iridescent blue micro glitter and matte black squares and hexs.  I used 2 coats, dabbing a bit to make sure there was ample glitter covering each entire nail.  I topped it off with a coat of Gelous then a layer of topcoat.

Well, what do you think?  Magical, right?!

Leading Lady + Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree

Alright….uber quickie post!  2 gorgeous polishes on their own, together - BAM, glitter bombtastic!

I started with Essie Leading Lady, a crimson red base with same colored glitters.  I used 2 coats and had no issues with the formula or coverage.  It's a really beautiful color, definitely one I want to wear again…soon!

Then I put 2 coats of Red Dog Designs Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree.  Hello fabulous!  RATCT has all the things that make you think of a Christmas tree: branches (green bars), tinsel (gold bars), ornaments or lights (blue, yellow, red, green hexs), and the all important tree topper - the gold star!  There is also a gorgeous green micro glitter, just to fancy up the tree a bit!  RATCT was a great polish - nice formula, tons of glitter came out with each brush dip.  I didn't have to dig for stars.  I used 2 coats of Gelous to smooth things over, then 1 layer of topcoat.

You can purchase Essie Leading Lady at your local beauty supply store or drug store.  Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree is available at the Red Dog Designs Big Cartel Store.  You can also purchase through the facebook page - which you should follow to stay up to date on products!

Snowy Seal

I have recently acquired a few Seal Lore polishes and let me tell you they are beautiful!  I decided to show off one from the Wintry Friends collection first, so this morning I am showing off Snowy Seal!  I love it!  Love the inspiration and theme and all the colors.  The names are cute and each one of the collection is perfectly fitting for it's winter friend name sake.   Snowy Seal is inspired by this little fellow, isn't he cute?

Snowy Seal is a beautiful metallic silver with black and white glitters of different sizes.  There is also a fine rainbow holo shimmer that really adds an extra special touch (I'm such a sucker for holo shimmer).  Snowy Seal can be layered over a base color or worn alone.  I chose to wear it alone and used 3 coats for full coverage.  I had no application problems.  The formula was easy to work with.  I would recommend shaking the bottle in between coats to keep the polish thin and easy flowing.  Snowy Seal is a hungry polish so I used 2 coats of Gelous and then topcoat to keep things smooth.  Now doesn't this make you think of all things cold, icy and snowy?  Maybe a fluffy baby snowy seal?

You can purchase the Sea Lore Wintry Friends collection from the Sea Lore store.  And give them a like on Facebook to be informed of updates, like this one!  Promo running through 12/16: buy 4 full size = 1 free full size!  Buy 4 mini = 1 free mini!  Buy any 4 full and mini (combination) = 1 free mini!

And don't forget!!  Today is the last day to enter my Just Because It's Christmas Giveaway!  I have 1 brand new full size bottle of Snowy Seal up for grabs!  Good luck!

Indulgence + Her Goose Got Cooked

Lovely evening I'm having, looking at nail polish pictures and throwing up new posts!  Hope you are enjoy reading them!  Now I'm sure I've told you before that I'm becoming slightly obsessed with CrowsToes.  There is something very special about those glitter combinations.  Her Goose Got Cooked is nothing short of spectacular!  And paired over Indulgence, whoa.  Such rich colors.  It reminds me of the smoldering embers in a fireplace.

OPI DS Indulgence is a red-orange metallic polish.  It also has a beautiful red-gold-copper shimmer.  Like I said before, ALOT of richness in this polish alone.  But it was quite sheer so I used 3 coats for complete coverage.  Other than the sheerness I had no issues with the formula or application.

I finally got to use my bottle of CrowsToes Her Goose Got Cooked.  Hello gorgeous!  I am in love with this glitter combination.  Gold, orange and pink hexs with tiny micro glitters in a clear base.  I used a makeup sponge to apply 2 coats to the upper area of my nail.  Even with sponging I got a ton of glitter on my nails.  It was easy to apply and lay smooth on my nails.  I finished it off with 1 layer of topcoat.

The pictures below show my nails in different lighting - sunlight, shade and indoors.  I did this to show the depth and beauty of Her Goose Got Cooked and Indulgence.

You can purchase OPI DS Indulgence at your local Beauty Supply Store.  CrowsToes Her Goose Got Cooked is exclusively available at Llarowe.
