Smitten Polish Gradient: In October, We Wear Pink & Cart Hold!

Good afternoon!  Popping in with a quickie post!  I wanted to get this beautiful mani shared this month, as it's breast cancer awareness month and one of these is a breast cancer awareness polish.  If you've been following me for any length of time you'll know that I have a major obsession with Smitten Polish.  I am always hunting down old colors and have quite a large collection of this brand. Why you ask?  Because Noelie never ceases to amaze me with the colors and finished she puts out.  I was rifling through my Smitten drawer and realized these two pinks were made for each other so I did what any pink polish fan would do - I used them together in a gradient!  Sadly neither of these polishes are available but trust me when I say that no matter what you buy, you will not be disappointed!  Head over to the shop I bet there'll be something there you'll just have to have.  Let's jump in and check it out!

This mani is a gradient of 2 pink holo micro glitter Smittens.  They are Cart Hold! and In October, We Wear Pink.  Cart Hold! was an exclusive that wasn't available to the public.  In October, We Wear Pink is from the October 2014 Sweet Addictions box.  I layered them both on a makeup sponge and applied a few layers to each nail.  The coverage was really great, the gradient built up to opacity pretty quickly (I can't recall if I used 2 or 3 coats).  I love that the gradient is subtle but noticeable.  And both shades of pink are really gorgeous.  I finished this up with 2 layers of topcoat.

KBShimmer Leaf Of Faith

Good morning!  I have a beautiful polish to share with you today.  Actually I am using it as an appetite whetter since it's from last Fall and I have the current Winter collection ready to be swatched and shared!  So while you wait for that post you can enjoy this beauty.  KBShimmer puts out a plethora of fantastic polish each season.  This is a prime example of what I'm talking about; jelly, holo glitter, perfect.  Just your luck - Leaf Of Faith is still available so make sure you head over and pick up a bottle.  I promise you'll love it as much as I do!

Leaf Of Faith is a "deep Cabernet red jelly" with red, orange and gold holo glitters.  Stunning!  I love how this polish screams Autumn.  I found the formula really stupendous.  It was easy to apply and the jelly formula built up perfectly.  I used 3 coats of Leaf Of Faith for full coverage and a layer of topcoat.  I am showing this polish in indirect sunlight because it shows the color and glitters off better.

Circle Gradient & Glitter Halloween Mani

Yup, another post for the evening!  I really wanted to share this one right away because not only is it Halloween art but I also used several of the Superficially Colorful Halloween collection to create the look!  If you missed that post you can see the beautiful holos HERE!  So I'll admit, I've been slacking on Halloween art this year.  Hopefully I can squeeze a few more in, but I like simple, easy and cute.  I definitely love to see all the intricate art other bloggers and nail artists put together but that's not me.  I made an attempt and I will continue to try and do more.  Here I have a circle gradient topped with Halloween glitter!  I love how it turned out and hopefully you do too!

I started this fun mani with 3 colors from the new Superficially Colorful Halloween collection.  I brushed Sweet Treat, Witch You Were Here and Ghouls Night Out on a makeup sponge.  I then applied it to each an in different patterns so the nails looked different.  I probably sponged the polish on 3 or 4 times before it was totally opaque.  These polishes are really fabulous alone or for use in art this way.  You can get the Superficially Colorful Halloween collection now.

I then topped my circle gradient with KBShimmer Kiss and Spell, a Halloween glitter topper from the 2014 collection.  It's full of matte stars, hexs and circles.  It's really cute and the colors are perfect for Halloween.  I only used 1 coat of Kiss and Spell as the glitter payoff is really great.  I really love this combo so much!  I finished it up with 2 layers of topcoat.

Superficially Colorful Halloween Collection, Fall 2015

Good evening boys and ghouls!  I can't believe Halloween is SO close and I haven't done any Halloween manis yet!  Ugh, #failure.  Well fortunately I do have a couple more Halloween themed polishes to share so I'll get my rear in gear and share those ASAP!  Up first is the Superficially Colorful Halloween Collection.  This launched on 10/1 so you can pick up your favorites now!  The 4 piece set is $33, or you can get individuals for $9 each.  If you love holiday themed polish, and holo then this is definitely a collection you will want.  Jin mentioned that the Halloween collection is NOT limited edition, but since it is seasonal it won't be available all year long.  I loved each color and the names are fun!  The formulas are also pretty dang awesome.  So let's jump in and check out these Halloween treats!

Up first I have Ghouls Night Out.  I'm pretty sure all the ladies out there could use one of these just about all the time (if you're anything like me).  Ghouls Night Out is a "sour bright green holographic polish with a hint of golden shimmer."  I found the formula and application both fabulous.  I used 2 coats and no topcoat.

Next we have Witch You Were Here.  Love the name, love the color!  It's a "deep dark purple holographic polish."  This shade of purple is perfection (and not only for Halloween).  The formula and application of Witch You Were Here were both stellar.  I used 2 coats for full coverage and no topcoat.

Sweet Treat (another awesome name) is a "red leaning orange holographic polish with a jelly like finish."  This one gave my camera some issues.  Especially on the macro so sadly I don't have a macro for you.  But the other pictures turned out alright.  Ok first off this color is AMAZING.  It screams pumpkins and fall and falling leaves and and and.... The formula was super creamy and opaque.  Sweet Treat was almost a one coater!  I did have a bit of a hard time cleaning it up, it started to turn my cuticle orange but that was the only spot where it did that.  So I would definitely suggest some base coat and to take caution when painting with this one as it could possibly stain your skin.  I used 2 coats of Sweet Treat and no topcoat.

Last but not least is I'm Just A Little Batty.  Every good Halloween collection need a black and Jin nailed it!  It's the perfect shade of black with just the right amount of holo so it's not overwhelming.  I do appreciate when I can see the base color through the holo (sometimes the flame overshadows the beautiful base color).  I'm Just A Little Batty had a top notch, creamy and opaque formula.  Application was like butter.  I only needed one coat for full coverage and no topcoat used.

I thought you'd be interested in seeing some of the other products Jin has been working on!  Handmade soap AND mani bombs!  They both smell amazing and I have them set aside to use on a night that I need some ultimate pampering.  I will definitely share my thoughts and more pictures with you once I try them out.  In the meantime, keep your eyeballs peeled for when she starts stocking these fab hand/body care items in her shop!

Girly Bits Hocus Pocus; Fall 2015

Good evening and happy weekend!  I've decided weekends are just as bad as weekdays because I never get to sleep in.  And if I do get to sleep in, well, I never do.  And today I am overhaul cleaning and such as I prepare the house for a birthday party AND Halloween.  So what better time to take a break to share an upcoming Fall/Halloween movie inspired collection with you!  The Girly Bits Hocus Pocus collection is totally fabulous and made up of deep and murky shades and the names are all just perfect!  PS - I totally love Hocus Pocus and will watch it at least a half dozen times every October.  If you have been living under a rock here's a BuzzFeed that highlights the awesomeness that is Hocus Pocus.  Now the details you really want to know...the Hocus Pocus collection is available on Monday 10/19 at noon EST.  The entire set will be available for $84 CAD for a limited time, then it goes up to $91 CAD.  The polishes will also be available individually for $12-$14 CAD.  Now let's look at polish!

*press sample*

Up first I have Amok! Amok! Amok!  This is an amethyst ultra holo with slight blue to purple shift.  My exact words in my notebook are "WOWOWOW!"  This polish is a real stunner and a must have for all the purple/holo lovers out there.  The formula and application were both amazing.  2 easy coats and no topcoat needed.

Witch, I'm Fabulous (LOL) is a multichrome flakie polish with a shift of pink, blue, purple and gold.  There's also chartreuse, purple and gold holo mocroglitter in the mix.  What a faboosh color for a diva like Winifred Sanderson!  This blingy glitter bomb had a good formula and applied very easily.  I was pleased with the glitter payoff.  You can use anything from this particular collection as a perfect base color and then you can get away with 1 coat of Witch, I'm Fabulous.  I used 3 coats and finished with 2 layers of topcoat.

Goodbye-bye is an army green creme.  Simple as that.  Unique color, perfect formula.  I only needed 2 coats for full coverage.  I did feel it dried with a slight matte finish so I slathered on a layer of topcoat to enhance the shine.

Dead Man's Toe is one of my favorites in the collection.  Again, unique and gorgeous color and then that pink shimmer....swoon!  I'd happily sport a dead man's toe necklace if it looked like this polish!  This is a used army green crelly with subtle to pink to gold shimmer.  Loved the formula on this one too.  It was definitely a full coverage coverage polish, very creamy crelly.  I used 2 coats and a layer of topcoat.

I Am Calm! is another favorite of mine.  It's a deep wine jelly with fine glowing red/gold shimmer.  This is a real vampy beauty!  It's actually the one I ended up wearing as a full mani once I finished swatching.  But you know I am a huge fan of dark reds, especially in this time of the year.  This is probably one of the nicest jelly polishes I have put on, the formula was superb and the application was perfect.  I used 2 coats of full coverage and no topcoat.

Moving along, here's On Toast!  This is a smoked out navy blue holo with violet flakes.  It's such a dark blue it borders on charcoal but you can definitely see that it's blue.  This had an awesome formula that was so easy to use and apply.  I used 2 coats for full coverage and no topcoat.

And rounding out the collection is another glorious creme - Yabos.   I mean really, who doesn't love some nice yabos?   No need to be embarrassed Max.  This is a rich, smokey purple and it's really quite bee-you-tiful.  The formula and application were lovely.  I used 3 coats for full coverage, keep in mind I am a "thin" painter and don't like working with too much polish at once, so it's easily a 2-coater for others.  No topcoat used.
