Smitten Polish Out of the Darkness

Hello lovelies!  I have a special polish to share with you today that supports a very important cause.  With everyone still aching from the loss of beloved actor Robin Williams to suicide, Noelie wanted to do something for others that might be fighting for their lives and looking a reason to keep going.  September is national Suicide Awareness Month and Smitten Polish has created a very special and complex polish that will donate $6 of each bottle sold to the AFSP (American Foundation for Suicide Prevention).  Out of the Darkness will be available in September only (as of this moment) and pre-sales start on the 5th at 2:00pm Central.

*PRESS SAMPLE*

Out of the Darkness is a gorgeous dark, yet bright purple base polish full of fuchsia, green and blue metallic and holo micro glitters.  There is also some color shifting that I can see in the blue/green micro glitters.  I reached complete full coverage in 2 coats but I've somehow become accustomed to using 3 so I did a 3rd...mind you it wasn't necessary.  The formula was great - I love that Out of the Darkness is a full coverage polish but the glitters still sparkle through.  Out of the Darkness is a little hungry so I ended up using 2 coats of topcoat, though if you used a thick gel coat or Gelous you should be good to go with 1 layer.

I also included some pictures with a matte topcoat.  I love how Out of the Darkness gets this soft focus finish.  You can really see all the glitters when Out of the Darkness is mattified.  Which way do you like it better...shiny or matte?

Indigo Bananas Telephasic Workshop and Perpetual Dawn

Indigo Bananas opened shop in February 2013 and has put out some amazing color shifting duo chromes and glitter polishes!  I'm sure you have seen the amazing swatches by the likes of Pointless Cafe, Adventures in Acetone, Ashley is Polishaddicted and Things I Love At The Moment….and now here's my review of Indigo Bananas!  Hopefully I don't trip myself up playing in the big leagues with the blogs I mentioned!!

As usual, before I get started here are the social media links you'll need to find Indigo Bananas.  You can purchase polish creations from Indigo Bananas on Etsy.  You can also follow them on Facebook for updates and new release information.  There are currently 2 coupon codes available on Etsy: 60FREESHIP for free shipping (US ONLY) for purchase above $60.  100FREESHIP for free shipping (worldwide) for purchase above $100.

I'll start with Telephasic Workshop.  Telephasic Workshop is a beautiful blue, leaning teal polish with a duo chrome shift.  I'll say right off the bat that the shift was there in real life, but I was unsuccessful at capturing it on camera.  There are a couple pictures that you can lightly see the shift on the edges of my nail.  So you can just oooh and aaaaah over the gorgeous blue/teal color in my pictures below.  I used 3 thin coats for complete coverage.  TW dries to a matte finish, but becomes very shiny and shimmery with topcoat.  The formula was very nice, smooth and easy to apply.  I used 1 layer of topcoat.

you can see the purple ever so slightly here

The glitter polish I had for review was Perpetual Dawn.  This is a gorgeous polish!  Perpetual Dawn is a clear base with "a mix of dark red & dark blue, rose holo glitter, and larger red, orange and yellow matte mix."  And do you want to know what I see in there…blue iridescent glitter!  My favorite!!  I started this mani with 1 coat of Sinful Colors Black on Black and 3 coats of Hard Candy Beetle on my accent nail.  I then layered 2 coats of PD over the base colors.  The glitter came out in abundance and laid flat on my nails.  I used 1 coat of Gelous, but would recommend 2 for a completely smooth finish.
