Girly Bits Hella Handmade Creations, April 2018 - No Fawkes Given

Good morning!  I'm sad, back on the Mainland.  Wah, that trip was way too fast but I accomplished exactly what I wanted to...nothing at all!  I lounged, relaxed and sat poolside for 5 days.  But now I'm going to have to bust by butt to get back into the swing of swatting and blogging to catch up on some things!  Let's start with this Girly Bits custom created for the newly renamed Hella Handmade Creations group.  This group was FKA Hella Holo Creations and was only nail polish.  Now they have changed their game plan, will include other handmade products (think hand and body care, etc...).  They also have multiple makers sign up with a theme for whatever duration they chose so you could get 4 months of Spring Flowers or 3 months Nautical products.  Girly Bits signed up to do a series of Harry Potter inspired polishes.  The first one, inspired by Fawkes, is called No Fawkes Given.  The HHC will open on 4/14 and you can purchase THIS polish for 7 days, ending on 4/21.  No Fawkes Given will be $13 and there is no cap.  Alright, I just hose fed you a ton of information so let's jump in and check out the polish.

KBShimmer Leaf Of Faith

Good morning!  I have a beautiful polish to share with you today.  Actually I am using it as an appetite whetter since it's from last Fall and I have the current Winter collection ready to be swatched and shared!  So while you wait for that post you can enjoy this beauty.  KBShimmer puts out a plethora of fantastic polish each season.  This is a prime example of what I'm talking about; jelly, holo glitter, perfect.  Just your luck - Leaf Of Faith is still available so make sure you head over and pick up a bottle.  I promise you'll love it as much as I do!

Leaf Of Faith is a "deep Cabernet red jelly" with red, orange and gold holo glitters.  Stunning!  I love how this polish screams Autumn.  I found the formula really stupendous.  It was easy to apply and the jelly formula built up perfectly.  I used 3 coats of Leaf Of Faith for full coverage and a layer of topcoat.  I am showing this polish in indirect sunlight because it shows the color and glitters off better.

Firecracker Lacquer Everyone I Love is Dead (partial review)

Good afternoon!  I have a new to me brand to share today - Firecracker Lacquer!  I perused her shop and was really impressed with the array of different colors and finishes I saw.  Definitely more than a few I am adding to my wish list!  The 3 I received from the new collection, Everyone I Love is Dead were all lovely in appearance and on my nails.  Everyone I Love Is Dead is set to launch on 4/2 at 6pm MST.  There are 7 polishes total in the collection and each will be $9-$10.  Kendahl also has tons of nail gems and rhinestones in her shop in addition to previously released polish.  Be sure to check it out.  So, are you ready to jump in and find out about the inspiration behind these polishes and see loads of pictures?  Ok then let's go!

Firecracker Lacquer: Shop, Facebook, Instagram

First up is Can Your Sword Cut Cold?, a "milky blue creme with bright blue glitters, and it glows blue in the dark."  Inspired by a "creature who is stuck somewhere between life and death; traversing the mountainside capturing souls as it goes, and turning them into zombie-like creatures with ice cold stares."  Creepy right?  Can Your Sword Cut Cold? is truly a stunning but delicate icy blue color with a shimmer that can stop you in your tracks.  But it definitely makes gives you the feeling of being frozen to the bone!  The formula was sheer but it was easy to work with and applied nicely.  It built up ok on it's own in 4 coats.  I still have some visible nail line so if that bothers you I'd suggest starting with a similar colored base coat.   Can Your Sword Cut Cold? did dry matte and a but gritty from the glow in the dark pigment so I finished with a layer of topcoat and everything was nice and smooth to the touch.

Look how amazing Can Your Sword Cut Cold? is in the dark!  It glows so bright and lasts for a good while!  I was staring at my nails in awe at the gorgeous blue glow.

Next up is Water Black As Night, a "bright green crelly scattered with different types of green glitters, and it glows in the dark."  This one is inspired by "an incredible potion; extremely dangerous and absolutely terrible, but incredible."  Sounds like a very interesting potion and one that I definitely don't want to find in my own cup of beer/wine.  Water Black As Night really stood out to me because I am drawn to brighter colors.  I love wearing them and this one was really a perfect neon green shade!  The formula was easy to work with, applied nice and almost full coverage in 3 coats.  Water Black As Night did dry matte and with a gritty texture.  You'll need a thick topcoat or Gelous to smooth it out.

Here is another totally awesome glow in the dark polish!  Water Black As Night has a fabulous green glow that lasted a long time.  It didn't take much light to charge this baby up either!  I'd suggest if your drink is glowing like this, don't drink it!

The last polish I received from this collection is A Crown Well Deserved.  This is a "sparkly gold holo glitter topper...varying sizes of glitter."  It's inspired by "a character who doesn't know when to shut his mouth and gets gilded because of it."  Ouch.  Not the way I want to wear my gold.  But I do want to wear this gold polish on my nails!  A Crown Well Deserved is indeed sparkly and blingy, just how I want it to be.  The formula was good, nice base/glitter suspension, plenty of glitter came out with each brush dip.  You can wear this alone or over a base color but I wanted you to see A Crown Well Deserved on it's own so this is 3 coats.  You can see there is still a bit of my nail line showing but direct sunlight over exaggerates things a bit, it wasn't that noticeable to my naked eye.  1 layer of topcoat and my nails were smooth to the touch.

Tower of Terror Inspired Duo from Sweet Heart Polish & Finger Lickin' Lacquer

Good morning readers!  If you follow me on Instagram you know that I teased you with some unnamed macros yesterday.  Well today I am showing you full swatches of said polishes!  This is the Tower of Terror Inspired Duo, which consists of A Most Uncommon Elevator by Finger Lickin' Lacquer and Shadow and Substance by Sweet Heart Polish.  Both of the polishes in this duo are pretty amazing!  The Tower of Terror dup will be available to purchase on Saturday 9/23 at NOON PST.  Each shop will have the duo available in limited quantity so get there right on the dot or you might miss out!

Up first is A Most Uncommon Elevator from Finger Lickin' Lacquer.  Of course this is a nod to the actual elevator in which the "incident" happened.  This is a "deep pink jelly with gold and pink holographic glitter and a dash of glow in the dark glitter thrown in."  This is one gorgeous jelly polish!  A Most Uncommon Elevator is so spicy and sparkly and shiny!  The deep pink shade is really beautiful yet my pictures are showing more red than the actual pink shade.  The gold holo glitters shine though for just the right among of bling.  The coverage was really great, as was the formula.  I used 3 coats, 1 layer of topcoat, and had no visible nail line.  I did check out A Most Uncommon Elevator and the glow in the dark looks a lot like the opening sequence of The Twilight Zone - a bunch of glowing stars against a black sky.  Unfortunately it was nearly impossible to capture in a picture so you'll just have to get it yourself to see!

*this is truly what the glow in the dark looks like*

This is Shadow & Substance by Sweet Heart Polish.  Shadow & Substance is brought up in part of the opening narration that sets the scene for the Tower of Terror ride.  It's all about the fear of anticipation here - what's unknown, what's tangible and what's a trick of the eye (or real).  It's all very Twilight Zone-y.  Described as an "almost burgundy holographic duo chrome polish that shifts from burnt orange to a gold color with gold flakes."  This color is amazing!  I loved that it looks like 2 different polishes depending on the lighting you are in - metallic or holographic.  The formula and application of Shadow & Substance were both fabulous.  Creamy and opaque.  I used 2 coats for perfect coverage and no topcoat.

Luxurious Purple Christmas Tree Mani with OPI Lincoln Park After Dark Suede, Lynnderella Golden Rules & IsaDora Wine Crush

Hullo!  I have alot going on in this mani and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!  I used old and new polish, different finishes, and of course I threw it all together into a skittlette!  Don't you just love how skittlettes can use up so many pretty polishes together in an unexpected way.  I sure do.  I also like how it helps lower my untrieds number by leaps and bounds.  So in this mani I have an old standby (OPI), glitter fairy goodness (Lynnderella) and a new to me brand texture polish (IsaDora).

Here are the links to all these brands;
Lynnderella: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Shop

OPI Lincoln Park After Dark Suede is the base for most of my fingers in this mani.  I love this color, I love the OPI Suedes.  They are all awesome.  I know I've said it before but I wish OPI would re-release these colors or bring out new ones (the Suedes are from 2009).  LPADS is a gorgeous deep eggplant purple with silver shimmer.  The suede finish is softer than matte and just so gorgeous.  I used 2 coats for full coverage on my index, middle and ring finger nails.  Application and formula were both impeccable.  I used my new IsaDora (thanks so much Smashley Sparkles for getting these to me!)   These Sugar Crush Sands are outstanding and unique colors to boot!  I used Wine Crush on my thumb, pinky and to create a modern looking Christmas tree design on my ring finger.  I used 2 coats and am in love with the color!  Wine Crush is a perfect burgundy-purple texture with shimmery fuchsia, purple and gold glitters.  The texture feels very fine.  Application and formula were fabulous.  I wish these bottles were bigger though!  Finally I used Lynnderella Golden Rules to add some extra sparkle.  Golden Rules is full of fun shapes in a clear base so you can wear it over anything!  I used 2 coats on my middle finger and dabbed a few shapes on the top of my nail to create a tree topper effect. I only used topcoat on my middle nail.
