Good morning! I'm quite excited for this month, a few things coming up later for you lovely readers...but not yet! You'll just have to wait for that. I'll have plenty of posts to share leading up to the big surprise, but for today this post features some Sally Hansen Velvet Textures! These are great shades with a very interesting finish. Sally Hansen describes the Velvet Texture line as a "plush velvet look...this formula requires no dipping or messy loose powder to create a velvety look." I really dug the matte finish and the soft texture once dry. You can pick up the Velvet Texture Nail Polish in chain drugstores for $9.99 each. Let's jump in and check out these products!

First up is Lush, a softly textured matte dark greige. I loved this color, it's very wearable and neutral. I found the formula nice and easy to work with. While applying you can see the actual polish seems gritty but it's not at all - Lush dried with the slightest texture feel. There were some brush strokes and I'm not sure if that was due to nail ridges or because the polish didn't want to level itself out perfectly. I used 3 coats of Lush and no topcoat. This was a quick drying polish, but there was no need to paint quickly like with some mattes.

Lavish was my favorite of the group I received. This color is vampy and perfect. I'd describe Lavish as a deep burgundy with a slight texture. Formula and application of Lavish were both stellar. The polish was easy to work with and went on nicely. It does have that same gritty look while wet on the brush but that doesn't translate to the nail as the base helps soften the feel. Lavish was another quick drying polish which makes it the perfect choice for when you are short on time. I found Lavish to be less streaky than Lush, and I'm guessing that the darker color helped hide the majority of the streaks. I used 3 coats of Lavish and no topcoat.

Last on my list is Regal. I had to have this royal blue matte texture. It's just so unique and pretty! Just like the last 2 polishes, great formula and easy application. The liquid version of the polish has some grit while applying it to your nails but the final product is a nice soft texture. Regal was another quick drying polish. I think Regal had the nicest formula - no streaks to speak of with this one. I will warn you that Regal caused some slight staining around my cuticles so paint carefully with this one. I used 3 coats of Regal and no topcoat.

I did a little nail art using all 3 Velvet Textures; Lush, Lavish and Regal. I started with Lush as a base and once dry I laid down Nail Vinyls in the lighting bolt pattern. I painted Lavish on one side and Regal on the other. While the polish was still wet I pulled off the nail vinyls and voila! Easy peasy nail art.
