Dior Day featuring Forget Me Not

Good morning dears!  A group of my friends and I thought it would be fun to do a big post together featuring our luxury nail polish indulgence - Dior.  Oh Dior, your nail polish formula is so creamy and fabulous.  Your brush is a head above the rest.  Your colors are always spot on and trend setting.  Such a small indulgence, yet it produces massive amounts of happiness amongst us polish fans.  Anywho...this fun group post came about after I'd done a Dior swap with my friend of the same name from Jen's Nail Files.  So here we are!  Let's look at the Dior I put on and please be sure to check out all the other posts linked to mine at the bottom of the post.

Forget Me Not is a beautiful medium toned purple that is lightly scented like rose-milk.  I don't think the scent is overpowering, I found it very pleasant.  This polish comes from the 2012 Spring Garden Party collection, which only had 2 polish colors - Forget Me Not and Waterlily.  Both are hard to find now.  Of course I have been lemming this beauty for just about as long as I can remember.  Probably since I started my crazed obsession with nail polish hoarding.  Would you believe that I actually had the opportunity to buy this one in a Dior shop and passed on it, hello big regret.  Forget Me Not lived up to my expectations and had that amazing creamy and effortless Dior formula that we all love.  I used 2 coats for complete coverage and no topcoat.

Candeo Colors Julep, Springberry & Mahi

Good morning!  My post today features a Spring collection.  I know I know it's December first and it's winter, but these are pretty and I can see at least 1 of them being used as a nice wintery, snowy base for nail art, an accent nail or just a full mani!  Candeo Colors hasn't put out too many updates or colors since this Spring line but I just saw some action on their Facebook page.  Looks like there are new holiday colors coming soon!    So keep an eye on the Candeo Colors Facebook page for more updates!  You can purchase Candeo Colors from the shop HERE.

This is Julep.  It's a very pretty shade that while made for the Spring really looks wintry to me when layered over a shimmery white.  It's a frosty white base with a slight milky formula.  Julep is also full of different shades of blue glitters.  I found the formula to be a little on the thick side so it would be difficult to wear this on it's own.  I used 1 layer of 2 layers of Orly Au Champagne (my favorite white ever).  I finished with 1 layer of topcoat.

This is Springberry.  Springberry is a fun mixture of purple, pink, fuchsia and silver glitters in a clear base.  In addition there is a lovely pink shimmer and a little holo sparkle.  While not overly holiday-ish, I can imagine this is an easy glitter to wear all year round.  The formula on this one was not thick like Julep.  It had a nice fluid consistency and application was great.  I used 1 layer over 2 coats of OPI Funky Dunky.  I finished with 1 layer of topcoat.

Finally I have Mahi.  This is a fun aqua based color that's full of gold, blue and iridescent glitters.  This color definitely says Summer to me.  The formula and application on Mahi were both great.  No issues to point out.  I used 1 layer of Mahi over 2 coats of Essie Naughty Nautical.  I finished with a layer of topcoat.

Dior Tutu & Gris Trianon

During my last giveaway there was an overwhelming request for me to do nail art and tutorials.  Since I am a newbie at art and have never done tutorials I will start slow and simple.  Here is one of my first attempts at something other than just pairing and painting.  Let me know what you think!

I really wanted to use some of my new and unloved Diors so I pulled out Tutu and Gris Trianon which debuted recently with the Spring Cherie Bow Collection.  I started with 3 coats of Tutu.  Tutu is a very light "baby girl" pink with a hint of shimmer.  I didn't see the shimmer on the nail at all, so it was either so light I couldn't see it or it just didn't translate on the nail.  Light colors like this give me problems and I found Tutu to be a tab streaky, hence needing 3 coats to even it all out.  But it still looked very lovely and I would certainly wear it again.  I waited for Tutu to dry completely before starting the art.  To make the stripes I used striping tape and carefully laid down 3 pieces to make the stripes.  I then used Gris Trianon, a medium greige with a pink undertone.  I used 1 coat and it was smooth, creamy and easy to apply.  I carefully pulled off the striping tape when the polish was still wet.  If you wait until the polish is dry you will likely pull off chunks of polish along with the tape.  I finished it off with one layer of topcoat.

My thumbs do exist!!
