Fit Snack Box; September 2017

Afternoon!  You guys know me, it's been a go-go-go kind of a day. Up bright and early to get the laundry finished so Naomi's uniform was ready.  Then off to coach the soccer team.  Then grocery shopping for tailgating tonight.  Then gymnastics evaluations for Naomi.  Now I'm finally home an sitting for about an hour before I head out again.  Can I retire yet?  Well, this morning I was also able to squeeze in the September Fit Snack Box taste testing.  Naomi and Noah joined me and I have their opinions on some of the snacks to share with you as well.  As always, you can use my link HERE to save $3 on any sub-box purchase.  Ok, let's jump in and eat with our eyes.

Pasta Chips are a new to me product. I was excited about them because I love pasta.  And I eat plenty of it since I'm married to a Sicilian.  I got the Garlic Olive Oil flavor and with the first bite flavors were bursting in our mouths!  I like that these chips are made with durum wheat semolina, the same ingredient in pasta, and that it's shaped like ravioli.  Noah said he thought it tasted like garlic bread and he was definitely on the right track.  Not exactly like garlic bread, but close to it!  The chips were crunchy and light.

Trophy Nut Peanuts are a peanut snack full of flavor but low in sodium and cholesterol free.  I don't generally reach for peanuts as a snack but I was intrigued.  The peanuts tasted fresh and were good.  The seasoning on them seemed to be lacking though.  It was more of a smokey flavor than a buffalo one.  I did notice the heat, it kicked in slowly after swallowing the peanuts.  Noah also felt the flavor wasn't buffalo-y enough.  Naomi didn't like that they were spicy.

I am very familiar with Amsety Bars now.  They're almost a staple in the Fit Snack box.  That's ok with me because they are delicious.  They're also the only nutrition bar designed to support liver health.  I received Dark Chocolate flavor and it was super chocolatey and yummy.  My kid testers also loved this snack.  It was one of the few that got gobbled up right away.

Kala Beautiful Beans is another snack that I've had before and was a hit in my house.  The Sea Salt and Vinegar Crunch flavor is awesome.  Just vinegar and salty enough to keep you reaching for another handful. Naomi was curious if they are nuts or chips and even after I told her they were fava beans she still thought they are tasty.  Noah asked if he could eat the rest of the bag.

The Creation Nation Energy Bar Mix looks amazing!  I didn't have time to make these yet but I can tell you that the mix itself smells delectable.  I can't wait to try the energy bites.  I like that the recipe is right there for you and there's a variation to make it more protein filled.  There are different flavors on the website too.

Salad Power had us all feeling a little sketchy.  Noah even got a cup of water so we could all wash it down if it was gross.  But it wasn't!  I found it pretty tasty, even sweet.  It tasted like drinking apples and carrots.  So the concept here is basically a drinkable salad.  These drinks are full of super food veggies and some fruit. No added sugar and very high in vitamins.  I like that they include a fruit to sweeten up the juice and I think that makes it more palatable also.  There are other flavors on the website.  Noah and Naomi were nervous but they both gave it a try and guess what?  Neither of them hated it.

The last product in my Fit Snack box is this packet of Leap Instant Smoothie Bowl.  I got the Red Power flavor and I have to admit I was super stoked because I have been addicted to power bowls and acai bowls.  So I saved this baby for after soccer (when I coach) and made myself brunch.  It was easy and YUMMY!  I used almond milk and a hand blender.  I found that it was very liquidy, no thickening agent in there.  So I decided to pour it into a container and freeze it.  It turned out great!  The mixture was sweet, not overly so, and almost earthy?  Anyways, it was so easy I would definitely stock up on these packets to make a quick, healthy breakfast.  There are other flavors on the website too. Naomi tasted the frozen bowl and didn't care for it, but kudos to her for trying everything!
