Alter Ego Jewlery Box Ballerina

Good afternoon polish friends! I have a lovely Alter Ego polish to share with you and I think you're going to love it. Alter Ego is a unique polish brand amongst all the indies! Cynthia, the creator, uses a different base than other brands and therefore has a matte-satin finish to all her polishes. It's a pretty finish alone, but once you top coat it wow-wee! This pretty polish is Jewelry Box Ballerina. Don't you just get the image of those old jewelry boxes you had as a little girl? The ones where you opened the lid a little ballerina popped up and spun around to music? I used to have one....and I plan on giving one to my daughter when she's old enough to not break it immediately. JBB is a delicate and dainty light pink with silvery shimmer. It's very girly, feminine and pretty. Using a special base does cause the polish to be a tad thicker, so I added a couple drops of thinner. After that JBB applied wonderfully. I used 3 thin coats and the formula was smooth and easy flowing. JBB dries to the signature Alter Ego matte-satin finish, but for the pictures I used layer of topcoat.

Starry Earth Faerie Fate

Hello polish friends! Look what I have here….another new to me brand! Starry Earth was opened by creator Elizabeth in April 2012. Her shop has some lovely polishes right now and she is also going to be releasing a late spring/summer line very soon (estimated 5/22 - yay!)! I have two from that collection to show you now. I was really impressed with both of the polishes from Starry Earth and am looking forward to seeing the rest of the lineup from Elizabeth!

This is Faerie Fate. I am smitten with it. It's delicate and feminine and everything I imagine a fairy to be. Faerie Fate is a light pink-lavender shade with a bit of holo (fairy) dust and a bit of blurple shimmer. The combination of the color and holo/shimmer give it a vibe that is very "fantasy." FF is sheer with the first coat and built up beautifully with the second. I did a third coat for good measure and for the most saturated color in pictures. The formula was great, easy flowing, no pooling or dragging. FF dried with an almost matte finish, so for the shiny look I have below be sure to use a layer of topcoat.
