Blue Eyed Girl Lacquer Far From The Sun Summer 2104 Collection

Good morning!  I have a HUGE post to share with you today and trust me you are going to want to see all of these pictures!  Julie, the mastermind behind Blue Eyed Girl Lacquer (BEGL) will be releasing the Far From The Sun collection on 7/20/14 at 3:30 pm EDT.  All 8 of the polishes that make up this collection are AMAZING!  I know holo is a huge favorite amongst polish lovers right now and this is a set is full of win!  Even the odd man out texture is perfection.  So mark it in your calendar, set your alarm and be ready for some serious shopping!  Now let's jump in and check out the beauties that make up the Far From The Sun Collection!

I went in semi-rainbow order so up first is Dawn Breaks.  Dawn Breaks is a fabulous deep rose pink, leaning magenta linear holo  I am a major sucker for any rosey shade of polish and Dawn Breaks is truly gorgeous.  There seems to be some very fine purple shimmer playing in there with the holo pigment.  The formula was fantastic!  Very creamy and opaque - Dawn Breaks was a 1 coater for me (ONE COATER ALERT!).  Application was wonderful.  No topcoat used.

The next pink shade in the collection is If You're A Seascape.  This is a gorgeous pink coral with a linear holo finish.  But it's so much more!  It's also full of lovely pink and orange shimmer.  If You're A Seascape had perfectly opaque coverage in 1 coat (yes indeed we've got another ONE COATER!)!  The formula was so rich and creamy, and application was perfect.  No topcoat used.

I'm sure you want to see some comparisons so here is Out. For. A. Walk...Bitch. (ring), Dawn Breaks (middle) and If You're A Seascape (index).  All shown with 1 coat.

Sail Her Don't Sink Her is the only non-holo in the collection and it's definitely a stand alone polish!  I love texture polish almost as much as I love holos and Sail Her Don't Sink Her is pretty darn fabulous!  Not only is it packed full of red micro glitters, but it also has a healthy helping of holo micro glitters for the bling factor.  The formula was a bit thicker than your standard polish, yet it's the same consistency as other indie textures, and not difficult to use what so ever.  Application was nice and easy.  I'd suggest letting each layer dry completely before adding the next.  I used 2 coats of Sail Her Don't Sink Her and no topcoat.

Here are some pictures of Sail Her Don't Sink Her with topcoat.  Wow - look how sparkly the holo micro glitters are!  They really stand out with the addition of topcoat.

Moving right along to one of my favorites of the collection...Intersecting Lines In The Sand.  This is a golden yellow linear holo that has a nice touch of silvery/blue flakies.  The color is absolutely amazing and very much reminds me of sunshine and summertime.  The formula and application were both superb.  I found this polish to be a bit more sheer than the pinks so I used 2 coats of Intersecting Lines In The Sand.  No topcoat used.

Born Of The Sea is a lovely mossy green linear holo with what appears to be a light dose of silvery shimmer.  There are also a bit of blue flakies for added interest.  This is a unique shade of green because most holos are a deeper color or mint.  The formula and application were both great.  I used 2 coats of Born Of The Sea and no topcoat.

I've got a comparison of Born Of The Sea and Dorkhead?! You Slash Me With Your Words.  I used 2 coats of each.  Born Of The Sea on my index and ring nails, Dorkhead on my middle and pinky.

We've reached my other favorite of the collection, Chlorine Llight.  This cobalt blue beauty is a gorgeous linear holo with a green flame and a small dose of micro flakies.  I love that Chlorine Light is so bright, bordering on a neon shade of blue.  It's completely gorgeous.  Formula and application were both amazing.  I used 2 layers and no topcoat.

The other blue in the collection is Ocean Warmed By The Sun.  I am actually having a difficult time placing the shade of this blue.  It's not turquoise, not teal, not sky.  What I do know is that it is really beautiful and refreshing.  It reminds me of super clear, tropical waters.  I'm ready for vacation!  Formula and application on Ocean Warmed By The Sun weren't as easy as the others in the collection.  It wanted to pool on me a bit and kind of wrinkled up on one nail.  Keep in mind these could have been user error and I love the color so much it wouldn't deter me from buying it.  I used 2  layers of Ocean Warmed By The Sun and no topcoat.

I've got a blue comparison for you now.  I compared Love Makes You Do The Wacky (ring), Ocean Warmed By The Sun (middle) and Chlorine Light (index).  I used 2 coats of each color, though I could have used a 3rd coat of Wacky.

Finally, we've come to the last polish in the collection, Fare The Wind.  What a beautiful purple linear holo this is.  Fare The Wind has lovely light purple and blue shimmer in it and it's noticeable in shaded and indoor lighting.  Formula and application were both fabulous.  I used 2 layers of Fare The Wind and no topcoat.

And here's a last comparison for you...I have Fare The Wind on my index and ring fingers.  We Saved The World, I Say We Party is on my middle and pinky nails.  I used 2 coats of each polish.
