The Makers Dozen, June 2019: Alter Ego - Island Hopping

Evening friends!  If you haven't heard, there's a new makers group on the scene, The Makers Dozen.  It's got 13 makers that are assigned to a specific theme.  Right now the theme is vacation Destinations, so each month the makers will cycle through a rainbow of colors inspired by the theme.  The great thing is you can purchase these polishes for the entire month or until the limited 40 bottles sell out.  I have Alter Ego's first polish for the Makers Dozen, Cynthia was assigned the color white.  She came up with a beautiful polish called Island Hopping.  You can pick it up for $10.  And you can still use my code My Nail Polish Obsession to save 20%!

Good morning and happy Sunday! I wish the weekends were longer, not that I get any more time to relax than I do during the week! It's been soccer, soccer, soccer, packing and cleaning all weekend.  Phew, I am tired!  But I must plug along today with both soccer games and the ol' blog.  Next Friday the PPU opens up!  The theme is great for October, Villains!  I love all the takes on the theme that I've seen so far.  Alter Ego went with a really awesome villain, Tyler Durden from Fight Club and came up with one of the most gorgeous pink polishes I have laid my eyes on; My Own Worst Enemy. Stella Chroma August Polish Pick Up Exclusives: Poppies! and Emulsified Sugar Scrub Poppies

Dreamland Lacquer June Polish Pick Up Exclusive: Evil Pig Bag Acquired

Good morning beauties!  It's a lovely Wednesday morning and I'm happy to share another gorgeous PPU polish with you.   June has the honors of having a Video Game theme so all the polishes are inspired by your favorite games (and games you've never heard of before).  When I was younger I played very few games; Mario Bros 3, Rampage and Shinobi.  What games did you play?  Dreamland Lacquer pulled inspiration from the PlayStation game Tomba and created Evil Pig Bag Acquired.  You'll be able to pick up Evil Pig Bag Acquired at the Polish Pickup from 6/1 - 6/4 for $12.  There is a 200 bottle cap for this polish.  Let's check it out!

Stella Chroma February Fantasmic Flakies Exclusive; Reflections

Girly Bits Cosmetics; Crystals Charity Lacquers - Fox Trot & Keep Calm, Terry On

Evening beauties!  I've got a pair of gorgeous polishes that help a good cause.  These are being sold in conjunction with @crystalscharitylacquers participation in the Terry Fox Run.  Terry Fox is a Canadian Icon who was diagnosed with bone cancer in 1977, when he was 18 years old.  Terry wanted to raise money to help children who were also fighting cancer and in 1980 did his first Marathon of Hope which entailed running across Canada.  Mind you he his own cancer took one of his legs, yet he preserved to help others by raising awareness and funds.  Sadly he lost his own battle on 9/1/81, he had gone 3,339 miles in 143 days.  He was only 22.  The Terry Fox Foundation was created to continue his desire to raise awareness and money for cancer research.  Crystal chose this charity because she is a cancer survivor and a proud member of Terry's Team.  I feel honored to share the charity polishes that Pam created to raise money for this organization.  You can learn more about the Terry Fox Foundation HERE and you can make a donation to Crystal's fundraising page HERE.  You can pre-order the charity polishes now.

Zoya Delight for Spring 2015

Good morning all and happy Saturday!  It's cold here today, and there's rain in the forecast.  I was going to run but I just don't think I can force myself to do it.  So I will just lounge and type up posts of you to enjoy instead.  And maybe the Zoya Delight Collection will make me forget that it's yucky outside.  I know you've seen posts for this collection already and I didn't want to bombard you so I waited a little while to share mine.  So let's jump in and hope this long winter finally subsides and we can all enjoy some sunshine and warm air soon.

Lilian is a "faded aquamarine" creme finish polish.  Not very exciting or unique, but it is a pretty color with a good formula.  It applied easily enough and I used 3 coats for full coverage.  No topcoat.

Tiana is a "pistachio gelato green" creme polish.  Again, not a unique color but I do love this shade.  I think it's one of those shades that I continue to buy even though I have a zillion just like it.  Formula and application were both good.  I used 3 creamy coats for full coverage and no topcoat.

Eden is a glossy "cream flower pink" polish.  It's actually pretty bright as far as pastel shades go.  Formula and application were both great.  I could have gone with 2 coats but used 3 for my pictures.  No topcoat.

Daisy is a "lemon meringue yellow metallic with...turquoise metallic flash."  Now things are getting interesting.  This is a fun yellow (yes I love yellow) with some extra flare from the blue shimmer.  The formula was a little sheer for my liking with 2 coats so I added a 3rd and then thought the polish felt heavy and thick on my nails.  No topcoat.

Leslie, one of my favorites in the collection, is a "soft spring lavender metallic with...turquoise flash."  I love the blue shimmer against the purple in this polish.  Since I learned from Daisy that 3 coats were too thick, I stuck with 2 and you can see there is still visible nail line.  It's not horrible but it's there.  No topcoat.

Rayne, my other favorite of the collection, is a "dewy, spring blue metallic with...turquoise metallic flash."  Again, the formula was a tad sheer and you can still see my nail line with 2 coats.  My real issue with the polish was that it was streaky.  Alas, the color was so pretty the streaks won't keep me from using it again and again in the warm weather months.  No topcoat.

Good morning and happy Valentines Day!  I hope you are having a lovely day, whether it be romantic or fun.  I know some of you are more excited for tomorrow...half price candy day!  It's totally time to stock up on candy to stash away for those times of desperate sugar rush need!  2 ladies that are surely going to hit up all the grocery and drug stores for candy are Laura from ellagee and Rahpaelle from Digital Nails.  These 2 are so excited in fact that they came up with a super sweet duo to celebrate the cult holiday.  Of course that's what I have to share with you today and after some swatching last night I had to put these on as a full mani for today because they are such a fabulous combination and so cutesy.  I have pictures of all the goodies that come in the box for you to enjoy as well!  The Half Price Candy Day Duo will be available tomorrow, 2/15 at 3pm CST. Here's what the Half Price Candy Day Duo box looks like upon opening and removing a layer of stuffing.  Mmmm, I spy candy!

Here's everything pulled out - look how cute the card is!  So hippy and colorful.  I love the magnets too!  One of my helmers is proudly displaying them now.

Digital Nails I Chews You (adorable name) is bubblegum pink creme, leaning a bit to the crelly family, full of gorgeous blue-aqua shimmer.  It's really stunning and fun and sure to make any pink lover squeeee.  I Chews You had a great formula, zero issues to report.  It applied perfectly.  I used 3 coats of I Chews You and topped it with a layer of topcoat.  

ellagee Secret Sugar Stash is a super sweet blend of pastel matte glitters in a clear base with the same blue-aqua shimmer.  I see white, pink, aqua, purple, yellow and orange glitters.  It's very reminiscent of that famous box of candy conversation hearts!  I really like that both polishes have the same shimmer because it really ties them together.  Secret Sugar Stash had a fantastic formula and was easy to work with.  I brushed a light layer of glitter on the top of my nails and then to get the most glitter per nail ratio for my upside down gradient I applied a 2nd layer with a cosmetic sponge.  I finished with a layer of topcoat for a totally smooth finish.  

Just to show you another way to wear this I put on a matte topcoat.  I have to say that I think this is my favorite way to wear glitters!  The matte gives is such a lovely soft focus finish and lets the blue-aqua shimmer show through.  

Rescue Beauty Lounge Oliveto

Good afternoon!  Hot day over here, isn't it supposed to be Fall yet?  Can't we just have a little chilly weather that let's me pull out my jeans, sweaters and boots?  Please.  Well if I can't have all that I can certainly settle for polish a gorgeous polish that sits in-between Summer and Fall.  Oliveto is from the recent Italian Summer collection, which is currently available.  Each polish in the Italian Summer collection is $20.  I also posted Bicicletta a bit back and you can see that post HERE!  So far I am totally happy with my picks from this collection and I look forward to trying out the last one I got - Motorini.  So let's jump in and check out Oliveto!

Oliveto is "the perfect olive green that reflects the flash of rainbow and purple and periwinkle shimmers."  It's stunning!  Ji's description of the beautiful sun drenched olive groves and the intoxicating smell of the trees makes this shade that much better.  The formula and application were both fantastic.  I used 2 coats of Oliveto for full coverage and finished with 1 layer of topcoat.
