Summer of Untrieds Day 9: International Brand

Good morning!  Today is Day 9 of Summer of Untrieds and the theme is Lilypad Lacquer.  I don't have too many Lilypads and the ones I have I already tried.  So I picked another theme and to keep in kind of in synch with showing off an Aussie brand I decided to make today International Brand day.   So stick around to see what brands I have on! I decided to try out Nailspt Good Karma.  I don't know much about this brand, or if it's eve around anymore.  I received this in a swap and I believe it is from Portugal, don't quote me on that.  Good Karma is a soft periwinkle base full of pastel glitters.  I am not fully sure if it would build up on it's own so I decided to layer it over Catrice Who Are Blue, a periwinkle creme. I used 2 coats of Who Are Blue and 2 coats of Good Karma.  I finished with 1 layer of topcoat.  

Rainbow Honey Apple Kid & I Miss You

Hullo polish friends!  I'm back with more gorgeous Rainbow Honey The Summer of 199X colors!  This set consists of 10 polish colors inspired by the 1995 SNES game Earthbound.  Dee explains that each polish reminds her of the different game levels.  Part 1 of the collection "is made up of 5 new glitter bombs bursting with shimmer and color."  Part 2 is "3 new shimmer-dusted cremes and 2 new glitter toppers that give each creme a bold or sweet look."  There are A LOT of gorgeous polishes in this collection.  I recently reviewed Mint Flavor and I Miss You, you can see that post HERE!  Head over to the Rainbow Honey Facebook page or Instagram (rainbowhoney) to see pictures and swatches of the other colors!  The Summer of 199X will be available on Friday June 21 atwww.rainbowhoney.com.  

This is Apple Kid.  It's my favorite of the 3 polishes I was sent to review.  Apple Kid is a beautiful "bright and rosy fuchsia creme" color with amazing pink-purple flakes!  It's stunning.  Application on Apple Kid was flawless, smooth and easy flowing.  2 coats for full coverage.  I also have an accent nail of Mint Flavor with Apple Kid zig zags drawn on.  1 layer of topcoat for extra shine.  

Here is Apple Kid topped with I Miss You.  I Miss You is a delicate glitter topper full of iridescent and pastel glitters in butterfly, heart, square and hex shapes.  Tons of glitter comes out with each brush dip and it spread nicely on the nail.  All the glitter lay flat and smoothed out with a layer of topcoat.

Starry Earth Citrus Paradise

 I have another lovely Starry Earth polish to share with you!  If you missed my post yesterday for Faerie Fate you can see it here!  Citrus Paradise is another polish that is going to be released with the late Spring/Summer collection.  The release date is scheduled for 5/22 (that's this Wednesday!).  As I said before if Faerie Fate and Citrus Paradise are any indication of what the collection is like I am very excited to see the rest!

Citrus Paradise is another delicate polish.  But it's a pastel glitter bomb in a milky base.  Citrus Paradise is chalk full of pastel pink, green, blue and yellow.  The base is a milky pink-white color that is a jelly-like formula.  Application was great, the formula was easy to use, tons of glitter came out with each brush dip and they all laid flat on my nails.  CP is a refreshing and relaxing color and I enjoyed it greatly after wearing so many bright colors recently.  I think it's subtle enough for work or "mature" situations where neons won't be appreciated.  I have 3 coats of CP and 1 layer of topcoat shown below.

I also wanted to show you Citrus Paradise over some colors.  I used Kiko Peach Rose (358) and an accent nail of Kiko Mint Milk (389).  I used 2 coats of both Kiko colors and 2 coats of Citrus Paradise.  I then used 1 layer of topcoat.  I love how different CP looks over the different base colors then on it's own!  It's like having 2 polishes in one bottle.  And the milky base doesn't overwhelm the base colors which is great because it means you can use CP over a huge variety of colors!  So how did you like Citrus Paradise best, alone or layered?

Mod Lacquer: Cherry Fizz, Verde Montana, Purple Prose

Tonight I get to share with you another newbie on the indie scene!  It's so fun and exciting to try these great brands out and help other polish fanatics make informed decisions on their purchases.  I truly hope that I am helping you make your polish stash exceptional!  Mod Lacquer LLC opened in January 2013.  From the polishes I reviewed it's pretty obvious we can expect some awesome polish from the creator Jennifer.

First up I have Cherry Fizz.  It's described by Jennifer as "a bright red nail polish that is packed with fine holographic glitter which is reminiscent of tiny sparkly bubbles in a vintage Cherry Fizz cocktail."  I love that description, makes me want an adult beverage.  Cherry Fizz truly is a beautiful, bright red polish.  It applied easily and I reached full coverage in 2 coats.  The holo micro glitter is very lightly holographic, more like a silvery glitter.  This polish is topcoat hungry, I used 2 coats for full smoothness.  You could used Gelous instead for the same glossy finish.

Verde Montana is a light green based polish packed full of pastel glitters.  It's seriously a pastel rainbow in there!  I see white, pink, purple, green, and blue.  There is also turquoise and purple micro glitter to round it all out for glitter fullness.  I initially wore Verde Montana alone (3 coats) and decided it would be better layered over a similar base color.  So I have 2 coats each of OPI Mermaid Tears and an accent nail of Skull & Glossbones on my ring finger.  Verde Montana was easy to apply and had a great glitter payoff.  The glitters spread easily and layed flat on my nails.  I used 2 coats of Verde Montana over the base colors and finished the mani with 1 layer of Gelous and 1 layer of topocat.

Last I have Purple Prose.  This is a gorgeous color shifting duo-chrome polish.  I am late to the duo-chrome party and am only now starting to appreciate this finish.  Purple Prose has really swayed me to want many many more of these types of polish.  I found myself staring at my nails to watch the change in different positions my hands happened to fall.  I actually gave myself a pedi with Purple Prose immediately after getting it on my finger nails!  The main colors I see are purple (obviously), blue and hot pink.  It's gorgeous!  Strangely enough my phone caught the best pictures so I will share those below a well.  I had full coverage in 2 coats.  The first coat applied really nicely, the second was tad thick but nothing unmanageable.  I finished it with 1 layer of topcoat.
