Shimmer Polish Nichole + OPI Swimsuit…Nailed It!

My best friend loves everything about the 4th of July; the colors, parades, bbq's, fireworks.  When I put this mani combination on all I could think of was her!  Does this not scream the 4th?  I think it does and I know this will make a perfect holiday mani come July!

I started with OPI Swimsuit...Nailed It! which was gifted to me by Danielle over at Polish. Glitter. Rock & Roll.  It's a gorgeous royal blue with a foil finish.  Application for SNI was easy and I had full coverage in 2 coats.  I then sponged Shimmer Polish Nichole up by the cuticles.  Nichole is described as a red, silver and blue glitter mix (hello perfect for the 4th of July!).  I used 2 coats via the sponging method.  Nichole went on easily, much like all the other Shimmers I have worn.  Great formula, great glitter pay-off and loads of bling.  I used 1 layer of topcoat for smooth to the touch nails.

The Nail Junkie Cupcake

InstagramI have such a gorgeous polish combo to share with you today!  And an indie first for me!  I recently received some Nail Junkie polishes and I was really pleased with the quality and uniqueness of the polishes.   I have 2 more to wear and am looking forward to playing with them!
I started with 2 coats of Layla 04 - the hot pink soft touch.  It's REALLY hot pink!  It has a very pretty suede type finish without topcoat and was easy formula to work with.  It also dried fairly quickly.  I used 2 coats of The Nail Junkie Cupcake on top.  Cupcake is circle glitters…yes I said CIRCLES!!  Different shades of pink and red in a clear base with silvery glimmer (glitter & shimmer).  It's really gorgeous!  I got a good amount of glitter on each nail without having to dig.  I like how the silver shimmer really shows up well.  I accented a nail with a special polish made for me!  Happy V-Day Jen! is a clear base with a glowy red glitter and red, pink and white hearts.  It was so much fun to use and stunning over the hot pink!  The red glitter really stands out and I think that made it a special polish.   The hearts and circle glitters layed flat on the nail.  I used a layer of topcoat to smooth everything out.

Have you tried The Nail Junkie polishes yet?  I'd highly recommend you do post haste!

Zoya Tallulah & Piaf + Shimmer Polish Trisha

Today I wanted to try something different with my mani.  Many other bloggers do this, and I have as well, just not for a post.  So you'll have to let me know how you liked it and if you think it's something I should try and do more of on here.

I started with 2 coats of Zoya Tallulah, which I received from the 3 for $10 promo a while back.  It's gorgeous.  Bight blue polish with purple glowy shimmer.  Just my style and I can't wait to wear it alone for the full "Marge's Blue Beehive" effect.  I did my accent nail with Zoya Piaf.  Piaf is from the Lovely Spring 2013 collection.  It is a soft pastel yellow with silver-ish shimmer.  Both Zoyas had lovely application and nice formulas.

I topped all fingers with 2 coats of Shimmer Polish Trisha.  Shimmer describes this polish as a blood-orange mix.  Definitely a red-orange tone.  There is also some gold, blue, copper and purple glitter in there.  I love how over the 2 different colors you can see that the polish can lean red or orange.  I had no application problems and am very happy with the amount of glitter I got out with each coat.  I finished it off with a layer of topcoat.

Shimmer Polish Caroline + Elevation Polish Pic du Gar

Today I switched gears from the metallic look to a beautiful crelly and glitter combo!  I started with 3 layers of Elevation Polish Pic du Gar.  PdG is a bright plum purple crelly.  It's sheer but builds up easily and has a great formula.  I then sponged Shimmer Polish Caroline on the tips of my nails and fully covered my entire accent nail.  Caroline is described as a grape glitter mix, full of purple, red, silver, aqua and blue.  I dollopped one thick drop of Caroline on a makeup sponge and applied it on the tips of my nails.  Then I use 1 heavy coat on my accent nail for full coverage.  As with other Shimmer polishes I have used I am highly impressed with the great coverage of these glitters.  They are well made and have a user friendly application.  I used 1 layer of topcoat for gorgeously squishy and glittery nails.

Shimmer Polish Linna

I'm excited to have more Shimmer Polish to review and share with you!  Cindy recently sent me a package full of glittery goodies and I squeaked with each one that I unwrapped!  So I will slowly but surely be making my way through them and you get all the viewing pleasure.

The first polish I plucked from the pot was Linna.  Beautiful!!  Linna is described as an emerald and teal mix.  Looking at my nails, even in a dimly lit room I can see the sparkle of those colors as well as silver, red and royal blue glitters.  The 3 other colors are sparse, but their presence helps add some extra bling to the overall look.  I used 1 thick coat of Linna to achieve the glitter coverage shown in my pictures.  The formula was nice to use and was easy to spread on the nail.   I used 2 coats of Zoya Trixie for the base color and 1 layer of topcoat for smooth nails.

Hare Atolla

Another beautiful bright pink polish!  Yay, I love pink!  This is the second Hare Polish I have tried and I absolutely am loving them.  Especially this collection, The Illuminated Life which draws upon bio luminescent creatures for inspiration.  They all have this gorgeous iridescent glitter that sends me head over heels!  I recently did a post for Bury the Hatchetfish.

But this post is for Atolla which is inspired by the Atolla Jellyfish.  You can read the details about the jellyfish on the Hare Polish blog.  I was really blown away with the colors in Atolla.  Amazing pink with blue to purple iridescent glitter.  It's stunning!  I used 3 coats of Atolla.  The formula was a tad thick, but nothing difficult too work with.  I'd suggest a base coat and then 1 layer of Atolla.  I used 1 layer of topcoat to finish it up.

Orly Green Apple + Red Dog Designs The Temptress + $OPI 18K

I had a girls night out this week and had a difficult time deciding what to wear.  I posted a poll in one of the private groups I'm in to get some suggestions.  More than half of the people picked Red Dog Designs The Temptress.  I am so glad I wore it because it's gorgeous!!

So I started with Orly Green Apple.  This is from an older collection and I came across it in a dusty old bin at a beauty supply store for $1.99!  Good deal right?  So I had to get it.  Well I am glad I did because I can tell it's going to be a staple base color for me this spring and summer.  Green Apple is a light lime green, not to neon, just a tad of dustiness.  The formula was amazing, so creamy and smooth. I used 2 coats for full and perfect coverage.

I then used 1 coat of Red Dog Designs The Temptress.  The Temptress is from The Original Series Collection and I have reviews of The Captain and The Engineer already posted.  I can't speak highly enough of this collection and The Temptress is no different from the other 2.  It's very well made and gorgeous.  It's a beautiful shade of lime green (think 7-up bottle color) with 2 different sizes of metallic green hexs.  There is also a fine gold shimmer that really pops agains the green base and glitter.  Application was wonderful with lots of glitter coming out with each brush dip.

I then decided to play off the gold shimmer and add a coat of Sephora by OPI (known as $OPI) Real 18K Gold Topcoat.  It's full of very fine pieecs of 18K gold flakes that are very delicate on the nail.  18K Gold would be the perfect way to lightly bling up any plain creme.  It definitley added a WOW factor to the mani I layered it over. I used 1 layer of topcoat for perfectly smooth nails.
