Happy Friday! I hope it's a beautiful day for you all out there! The weather has been amazing here, more Summer than Spring though. It's been hot enough to pull out the slip n slide for the kids. And to turn on the air conditioner! Well I don't mind the heat because I love having an excuse to eat ice cream, swim and wear gorgeous glowy, shimmery and bright (happy) colors on my nails. Which is perfect because today I have the brand new Red Dog Designs Butterfly Garden Collection to share with you! The Butterfly Garden is a collection "inspired by flowers that attract butterflies and fun, spring flowers and gardens!" This collection will be available tomorrow evening (5/2) at 5:00 pm EST! And pssst, there are still a couple bottles of my 2-year custom La Vie en rose available. You can see my pictures of that beauty HERE!
*PRESS SAMPLE*
Up first we have Aster, a "pale blue creme with blue/green iridescent glitters, holo micro glitter and a turquoise shimmer." The bright blue iridescent glitters in Aster are stunning! The first coat was sheer, but it built up nicely in 3 coats. Application and formula were both lovely. I used 1 layer of topcoat.
Pentas is the softest pink holo I have ever seen. It's described as a "pale pink linear holo creme with a pink shimmer." It is so delicate and dainty. The holo is very subtly linear and the shimmer adds a glowy effect. Formula and application were both great. I used 3 coats of Pentas and no topcoat. *Pentas will be $12/bottle*
The Butterfly Effect is a glitter topper full of "various sized hex and square glitters, in shades of iridescent blue/purple, holo teal, holo lime, holo blue, holo purple, with neon pink, purple, and holo silver butterflies, sprinkled with micro glitter." All the glitters came out very easily and spread well on my nails. Plenty of butterflies ended up on my nails with no digging required. I used 1 coat of The Butterfly Effect over Pentas. I finished with 1 layer of topcoat.
Coreopsis is a fabulous "pale yellow suede finish with gold and silver sparkles and a gold shimmer." The suede finish is unexpected and beautiful! This is the first suede finish I have tried from an indie brand and I sure hope Gina puts out a whole line of these! The touch of golden sparkle hidden in the yellow base that makes for a nice soft effect. The formula was ever so slightly thicker than the others in this collection, but not difficult to use. It also dries with the lightest grit feel. I used 2-3 coats of Coreopsis and no topcoat.
Floral Flourish is a gorgeous glitter topper that reminds me of antique/Victorian style pictures and tea cups. The mixture of "various sized hex, square, and circle glitters, i shades of rose copper, pink, orange, gold, melon, white, light blue, holo silver, berry, holo gold, holo lime and sprinkled with micro holo glitter." It's a perfect blend of colors. Formula and application were both awesome. I used 2 coats of Floral Flourish over Coreopsis.
Phlox is a "pale purple creme with holo purple, glass violet, berry, and holo micro glitters, with a violet shimmer." Phlox is a texture polish, a finish that I think Gina excels at! Phlox is fabulous, I love the spring-y lilac shade for this season. I found the formula and application of Phlox were both great. I highly recommend letting each coat dry completely for the best texture effect. I used 2 coats for full coverage and no topcoat.
Zinnia was my surprise favorite of the collection (gasp I know...not pink or yellow)! Zinnia is a "pale green creme with blue micro flakies and green/gold shifting micro flakies and a green shimmer." This soft green has a minty fresh look that is fun and fresh. The formula and application were both awesome. I used 3 thin coats of Zinnia for full coverage and 1 layer of topcoat.
Spring Fever is the final glitter installment to complete the collection. Spring Fever is a mixture of "various sized circle, flower, diamond, and butterfly glitters, in shades of pastel pink, pastel yellow, pastel orange, pastel green, pastel blue, pastel purple, hot pink, yellow, holo pink, holo silver, holo purple and sprinkle with micro holo glitter." That is a lot of glitter goodness! I like the happy mix of shapes and colors in this polish. Formula and application were both fabulous. I used 2 coats of Spring Fever over Zinnia. I finished with 1 layer of topcoat.

ReplyDeletePentas is beautiful! The glitter topppers are really lovely as well.
ReplyDeleteSo many pretties here! Aster is absolutely beautiful and caught my eye right off the bat. It reminds me of an opal!! Phlox is another favorite but of course, I'm so indecisive that I can't play favorites with any of them and just might need them all!
ReplyDeleteawesome swatches! Love the concept of a collection with different textures!
