Color Club Frost Bite Collection; Partial Review

Good morning dears!  My posting will be a bit infrequent and irregular for the next week (month actually) as I am preparing for a 2 week long vacation and will be busy packing, cleaning and setting up guest posts!  YAY for guest posts!  But when I have a chance here and there I'll throw up a few pictures for you to peruse.  This morning I have a few metallic shades and a glitter from the Color Club Winter collection called Frost Bite.  The 7 piece Frost Bite collection is available on the website now and each shade is $8.50.  It looks like they are all metallic finish, metal type shades.  The only thing I will mention about this is that you will get brushstrokes with this type of finish.  My suggestion is to sponge on the second layer and you'll completely reduce that brushstrokey look.  I also have a feeling these will be great for stamping!  So let's jump in and see the 3 polishes I have to share!

Color Club Cabin Fever, Fall 2015 (partial review)

Good afternoon all!  I've got another post with some great colors for you now!  Have I mentioned that I love this season and all the fabulous colors it brings?  Well I do.  Fall is my favorite.  Now only if the weather would get on board so I can wear my boots and rock my comfy/cozy/big sweaters!  So for now I will just pacify myself by wearing Fall colored nail polish.  This post features the new Color Club Cabin Fever collection for Fall 2015.  I talked a bit about it in my CosmoProf 2015 coverage (you can see it HERE).  Cabin Fever is a collection of 6 shades, all creme, and very classic Fall colors.  I really love the camel shade so I'll be on the look out for that.  The Cabin Fever collection isn't available on the Color Club website yet but it is on Amazon!  Well, I'm ready to talk polish and I have 2 to share with you from Cabin Fever so let's jump in and check them out.

Up first is Favorite Flannel.  This is an orangey-salmon colored creme polish.  I love the shade, it's unique in both color and for a Fall collection but it totally works.  I for one do not shy away from bright colors in the Fall and this is just the right amount of pop to brighten up any wardrobe!  The formula and application were both stellar.  I used 2 coats of Favorite Flannel (did I mention that I love the name and it makes me think of my grunge girl ways in the 1990's) and no topcoat.  Yup, nice and glossy with no topcoat!

The other polish I have to share is Take A Hike.  Again, love the name and the color!  This is a dusty denim blue creme.  I was a tad worried when I applied Take A Hike because the first coat was patchy and thin but the second coat leveled everything up perfectly!  So I'll go ahead and say that the formula and application were both lovely.  I used 2 coats of Take A Hike and no topcoat.

Color Club Love Tahiry Scented Collection

Hello, hope you're having a nice Saturday morning. I just got home from watching my oldest son's soccer game.  He's a goalie and I think it makes me much more nervous to watch him than the other parents out there.  So now I'm sitting here playing catch up with posts before I have to get ready for the next game.  I figured I'd start with the Color Club Love Tahiry Scented Collection, a set of 6 polishes all scented differently.  This collection actually released around Valentine's Day but with the exception of the heart glitter topper, they are easily cross seasonal.  The Love Tahiry Scented Collection should be available in any of your local beauty supply stores and online now.  So without further adieu let's jump in to the post and I'll tell you about these scented polishes.

On Cloud Nine is a white creme that is scented like white chocolate.  I found the polish nice and easy to use.  It wasn't streaky or patchy, the white also wasn't as stark as some are.  I suppose it does have a white chocolate look.  The scent was sweet and sugary though I'm not sure it reminded me of white chocolate.  I used 2 coats of On Cloud Nine and no topcoat.

Seal it With a Kiss is a salmon pink creme.  I really loved this color and think it's perfect for Spring and Summer months alike.  The formula and application were both great.  Seal it With a Kiss is strawberry scented.  Again, it was sugary and sweet and I couldn't really tell a different between it and On Cloud Nine.  I used 2 coats and no topcoat.

Sweet Getaway is my favorite polish in the collection.  It's a creamy neon pink and it's so bright it screams for attention.  The formula was really great, creamy and opaque.  It's also super shiny!  I used 2 coats but if you are a heavy handed painter you can easily get away with 1.  Sweet Getaway is pink rose scented and it's fairly a strong floral scent.  I generally don't care for the rose scent but this one didn't bother me.

50 Shades of Love is a glitter mix of satin white and red hearts.  It's my least favorite of the collection as I don't think it's unique.  We have seen heart mixes from several brands from many years ago.  I also thought the heart glitters themselves were kind of beat up, with scratch marks on the hearts themselves.  I didn't really have to dig for the glitter so that was good.  I got a good amount of hearts with just a swish of the brush in the bottle.  But the base can be thick so be cautious with that.  I ended up using 1 coat of 50 Shades of Love over Sweet Getaway.  I used 1 layer of topcoat to finish.  This one is candy scented, but I wasn't sure which candy it was supposed to smell like.  I also don't think it was as sweet smelling as On Cloud Nine or Seal it With a Kiss.

Red-Handed is a true red creme that is cinnamon scented.  You know I love reds and this one is really nice.  If had a fabulous formula, creamy and opaque AND it applied that way in 1 coat!  The cinnamon scent in Red-Handed was very light, I could barely smell it.  But to  be honest at this point my nose was hurting from all the artificial scents.

Tall, Dark & Handsome is a dark grey creme, scented like cologne.  I didn't like the scent of this one at all.  I only like cologne on my husbands neck but even still, this one reminded me of a super old school cologne that is not relevant to today's selection of mens scents.  The polish itself was lovely though.  Creamy and opaque.  Easy to work with.  Great formula and application.  I used 2 coats of Tall, Dark & Handsome and no topcoat.

Last up is Jitters, a holo pink micro glitter that smells like bubbly.  Strange way to word the scent because I think champagne when I hear bubbly but this is scented like soapy bubbles.  It actually was a nice change from all the sweet smells and that blah cologne scent.  It smells clean.  Jitters had a nice formula, it applied easily and I was able to get full coverage in 2 coats.  I took pictures of Jitters without topcoat so you could see that it dries slightly matte and softly textured.

My Personal Top 10 Mainstream Polishes of 2014

Good morning lovelies!  I'm back with 1 more Top 10 post for you - but this time it features the mainstream brands that I tried out.  Much like that last post, featuring my favorite indie polishes for 2014 (you can see that post HERE), I will provide pictures and links to the original posts so you can read up on the individual polishes if you so desire!  Thank you for a a fabulous year full of gorgeous polish 2014!  I hope that 2015 has exciting things in store for us polish fanatics!  So lets get started!

*please click on links to original posts for disclosures*

10. Jessica SoHo In Love.  What a gorgeous, pastel pink-nude creme this is!  It was the perfect palate cleanser and a perfectly girly shade.  I hope to try plenty more polish from Jessica Cosmetics this coming year.  Original post HERE.

9. China Glaze Stop That Train.  Here's one of those polishes that is just so me I couldn't take it!  The rest-red orange color was fabulous.  The shimmery finish was to die for.  I know China Glaze will have loads of interesting and beautiful polish for 2015 and I look forward to seeing exactly what it will all look like!  Original post HERE.

8. Sheswai Lacquer Yowza.  I am not even sure if this polish was released in 2014, but since I tried it out this year it made the cut!  This is such a gorgeous, shimmery purple.  And the formula.  Swoon!  Sheswai has their formula down to a perfect science - buttery, creamy, opaque!  I know Sheswai mostly does cremes, a couple shimmers.  I hope they release a plethora of new shades in 2015!  Original post HERE.

7. OPI Comet in the Sky.  I'll admit that I wasn't too impressed with the Gwen Stefani Holiday 2014 Collection.  Then I saw Comet in the Sky.  Jaw hit the ground - no joke.  OPI totally channeled the indie brands with this iridescent and black glitter bomb.  It's FANTASTIC!  I wore it over a deep navy blue shade and it was perfect galaxy on my nails.  OPI is another brand that I know won't disappoint in 2015 - I have already seen a few collection floating around the Facebook groups and I can't wait to see them in real life.  Original post HERE

6. Color Club The Uptown.  I'll admit I've never been much of a flakie fan.  Then The Uptown came out and I happened across it in a beauty supply store.  I bought it.  I loved it.  Now I am beyond happy that I did get it because for some reason Color Club changed their formula and The Uptown looks nothing like this lovely flakie polish!  Color Club always does a great job of putting out interesting and unique collections full of glitters, shimmer, textures, toppers.  I can't wait to see what they have in store for us in 2015.  Original post HERE.

5. Orly Pink Crystal.  This was actually not a polish that Orly ever released.  This was a one off that polish fans were finding across the states in Marshall's and TJ Maxx stores.  Man we went nuts over these texture polishes.  One look at Pink Crystal and it's easy to see why we all spend time looking for this (and it's peach counterpart Just Peachy!).  This was a nice bright, perfect for spring and summer pinky-red texture that I think should have been release in mass quantity.  But oh well, maybe 2015 will bring more Orly textures for us to love.  Original post HERE.

4. Dior Aventure.  This is one of the gel-like colors that Dior released in the late Spring.  I'm a little (ok HUGE) fan of the Dior formula so I was excited to try these.  They didn't disappoint.  Aventure applied just like the regular Diors but had so much more shine and gloss.  I'd be a happy camper to see more polishes like this line from Dior.  I'd also be happy to see some more greens and oranges too!  Original post HERE.

3. Rescue Beauty Lounge Oliveto.  Alright - I am not sure this could really be considered a mainstream brand but it surely isn't an indie.  I guess it sits somewhere in the middle but it's going in this post so I'm just going to have to deal with my in-betweener polish selection.  What I love about this polish isn't just the color or name, it's the way Ji makes you feel like you are in Italy, taking in the sights though her inspiration.  RBL is a brand that paints a lovely picture behind the polish as well as your nails.  I hope 2015 brings us more inspired collections much like this from the Italian Summer Collection.  Original post HERE.

2. Zoya Posh.  This is a re-release from a year or two back.  I can't say no to a red.  Let alone a matte red.  This is a real beauty and it looks amazing in it's intended matte state as well as with topcoat.  It's like getting 2 polishes for the price of 1!  I would love to see more MatteVelvets from Zoya in 2015! Original post HERE.

1. Barielle Hawaiian Sunset.  I don't think this one even needs an explanation.  Look at it.  Bright orange.  Heavy gold shimmer.  Jen Jen Jen!  Actually I went into this list with a completely different order so when it started pouring out of my head I surprised myself.  But then I look at this picture and the post and I just knew this was my favorite mainstream of the year.  I only started wearing Barielle about halfway through 2014 but I was consistently impressed with the formula and quality of their polish.  2015 should be a promising year for Barielle and I can't wait to see what their collections have in store for us!  Original post HERE.
