Dior Vernis Cruise & Cosmic

Good evening dolls.  Hope you all had a lovely weekend and all you mom's (of kids and fur babies) had a wonderful Mothers Day.  I got plenty of hugs and kisses from my kids so I was a happy mom.  I have quite a few posts lined up and new stuff coming in within the next few days so hopefully I'll get them all shared sooner than later.   For now I have a couple newish Diors to share with you.  These are from the Spring collection and I thought they were Nordstrom exclusives, but I'm not sure that's the case.  It doesn't matter where you can get them because they are really pretty!  So let's ump in and check out Cruise and Cosmic.

My Personal Top 10 Mainstream Polishes of 2014

Good morning lovelies!  I'm back with 1 more Top 10 post for you - but this time it features the mainstream brands that I tried out.  Much like that last post, featuring my favorite indie polishes for 2014 (you can see that post HERE), I will provide pictures and links to the original posts so you can read up on the individual polishes if you so desire!  Thank you for a a fabulous year full of gorgeous polish 2014!  I hope that 2015 has exciting things in store for us polish fanatics!  So lets get started!

*please click on links to original posts for disclosures*

10. Jessica SoHo In Love.  What a gorgeous, pastel pink-nude creme this is!  It was the perfect palate cleanser and a perfectly girly shade.  I hope to try plenty more polish from Jessica Cosmetics this coming year.  Original post HERE.

9. China Glaze Stop That Train.  Here's one of those polishes that is just so me I couldn't take it!  The rest-red orange color was fabulous.  The shimmery finish was to die for.  I know China Glaze will have loads of interesting and beautiful polish for 2015 and I look forward to seeing exactly what it will all look like!  Original post HERE.

8. Sheswai Lacquer Yowza.  I am not even sure if this polish was released in 2014, but since I tried it out this year it made the cut!  This is such a gorgeous, shimmery purple.  And the formula.  Swoon!  Sheswai has their formula down to a perfect science - buttery, creamy, opaque!  I know Sheswai mostly does cremes, a couple shimmers.  I hope they release a plethora of new shades in 2015!  Original post HERE.

7. OPI Comet in the Sky.  I'll admit that I wasn't too impressed with the Gwen Stefani Holiday 2014 Collection.  Then I saw Comet in the Sky.  Jaw hit the ground - no joke.  OPI totally channeled the indie brands with this iridescent and black glitter bomb.  It's FANTASTIC!  I wore it over a deep navy blue shade and it was perfect galaxy on my nails.  OPI is another brand that I know won't disappoint in 2015 - I have already seen a few collection floating around the Facebook groups and I can't wait to see them in real life.  Original post HERE

6. Color Club The Uptown.  I'll admit I've never been much of a flakie fan.  Then The Uptown came out and I happened across it in a beauty supply store.  I bought it.  I loved it.  Now I am beyond happy that I did get it because for some reason Color Club changed their formula and The Uptown looks nothing like this lovely flakie polish!  Color Club always does a great job of putting out interesting and unique collections full of glitters, shimmer, textures, toppers.  I can't wait to see what they have in store for us in 2015.  Original post HERE.

5. Orly Pink Crystal.  This was actually not a polish that Orly ever released.  This was a one off that polish fans were finding across the states in Marshall's and TJ Maxx stores.  Man we went nuts over these texture polishes.  One look at Pink Crystal and it's easy to see why we all spend time looking for this (and it's peach counterpart Just Peachy!).  This was a nice bright, perfect for spring and summer pinky-red texture that I think should have been release in mass quantity.  But oh well, maybe 2015 will bring more Orly textures for us to love.  Original post HERE.

4. Dior Aventure.  This is one of the gel-like colors that Dior released in the late Spring.  I'm a little (ok HUGE) fan of the Dior formula so I was excited to try these.  They didn't disappoint.  Aventure applied just like the regular Diors but had so much more shine and gloss.  I'd be a happy camper to see more polishes like this line from Dior.  I'd also be happy to see some more greens and oranges too!  Original post HERE.

3. Rescue Beauty Lounge Oliveto.  Alright - I am not sure this could really be considered a mainstream brand but it surely isn't an indie.  I guess it sits somewhere in the middle but it's going in this post so I'm just going to have to deal with my in-betweener polish selection.  What I love about this polish isn't just the color or name, it's the way Ji makes you feel like you are in Italy, taking in the sights though her inspiration.  RBL is a brand that paints a lovely picture behind the polish as well as your nails.  I hope 2015 brings us more inspired collections much like this from the Italian Summer Collection.  Original post HERE.

2. Zoya Posh.  This is a re-release from a year or two back.  I can't say no to a red.  Let alone a matte red.  This is a real beauty and it looks amazing in it's intended matte state as well as with topcoat.  It's like getting 2 polishes for the price of 1!  I would love to see more MatteVelvets from Zoya in 2015! Original post HERE.

1. Barielle Hawaiian Sunset.  I don't think this one even needs an explanation.  Look at it.  Bright orange.  Heavy gold shimmer.  Jen Jen Jen!  Actually I went into this list with a completely different order so when it started pouring out of my head I surprised myself.  But then I look at this picture and the post and I just knew this was my favorite mainstream of the year.  I only started wearing Barielle about halfway through 2014 but I was consistently impressed with the formula and quality of their polish.  2015 should be a promising year for Barielle and I can't wait to see what their collections have in store for us!  Original post HERE.

Summer of Untrieds Day 3: Creme

Good morning!  Happy to be here for another Summer of Untrieds post!  The theme for today, day 3, is creme.  Well, I've got a drawer full of gorgeous Diors and I thought it only fitting that I try one of those out for today.  If you want to join the fun and use up some of your untrieds it's easy!  Just used #summerofuntrieds and post your picture on Facebook or Instagram!

Dior Mirage is a gorgeous fuchsia/magenta blend in the most amazing formula ever.  The new Dior formula sits somewhere between a creme and a gel.  It goes on perfectly smooth and shiny.  Of course Mirage has that fabulous hidden shimmer that Dior is known for.  I used 2 coats of Mirage and no topcoat.

Dior Aventure

Good afternoon lovely readers!  Just wanted to pop in with a quick/short post of sheer polish perfection.  Seriously!  I received the new Dior colors for my birthday and tried one out, holy moly I am in love with the color, the brush, the formula - everything!  Ok so Aventure is one of the brand new colors in the huge Gel Shine Color collection that was released in April.  The formula is almost like a crelly, super squishy and shiny but completely covers in 2 coats (no visible nail line - at least on me and my nails are nubby, so I can't speak for VNL so long nails).  Aventure is a fantastic bright and juicy red-orange shade that I simply adore.  I really can't say enough about how fantastic the color and formula are on Aventure!  I think they also changed the brush a little, it seemed wider and covered my nails even more perfectly with one easy swipe.  I am totally looking forward to trying the other Dior Gel Shine Colors that I have!  My pictures are without topcoat.

**Dior is also available at: Nordstrom, Sephora, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, and Macy's.

Dior Skittles & Lumina Lacquer The Childlike Empress

Hi, I'm Jen and I'm a Dior addict.  <-- First step, admitting the problem.  Ok, maybe it's not that bad, but it's definitely an addiction I need to reign in sometimes.  I find that I buy Dior with abandon and hardly ever wear them.  Well I decided that needs to change.  This mani used 3 colors I hadn't tried yet form my Dior stash and they made the perfect Spring skittles.  I promise to try to work harder on getting more Dior posts up.

I wanted to do something pastel since it's so close to Easter so I pulled out Lilac Colorvision, Tutu and Porcelaine.  These 3 colors worked so week together and created a perfectly creamy Spring mani.  But I will admit, they were not as easy to use as some of Dior's brighter/darker colors.  I have Tutu on my index finger.  Tutu is a soft pink creme.  It was a little patchy during application so I needed 3 coats for coverage and leveling.  I then used Lilac Colorvision on my middle finger.  Lilac Colorvision was my favorite of the 3 colors I used for this mani, not only for the soft lilac color but also for the great formula and application.  I used 3 coats for full coverage.  I then used Porcelaine on my thumb, ring and pinky fingers.  I wish I liked Porcelaine more, but it was a real pest to use.  Porcelaine was very streaky and patchy.  I made sure to let each layer completely before applying the next but I still had problems.  I used 4 coats of Porcelaine.  I finished with 1 layer of topcoat.

I decided to give my mani a little bling so I sponged the tips and did my accent nail with Lumina Lacquer The Childlike Empress.  The Childlike Empress is a glitter bomb full of stars, moons, triangles, circles, and hexs in a blend of white, blue, silver, gold and silver.  Lots of holo glitters in here too so it has a pretty awesome bling factor.  I sponged 2 coats on the tips of my nails and used 2 coats on my accent nail  I finished with 1 layer of topcoat.

Dior Bahia & Samba Duo Skittlette

Good morning readers!  I recently tried a waterfall mani and it was so easy and pretty that I had to do it again!  But this time I did it in a skittlette that was inspired by the awesome Jacki over at Adventures in Acetone.  She has been doing some truly gorgeous skittlettes and I drew my inspiration from one that she recently did - you can see it HERE!

So here's my take on it!  I started with the Dior Samba and Bahia duos which were the polish addition to the Birds of Paradise summer makeup collection.  They came in 2 sets with 2 mini bottles each.  The Samba Duo consisted of a foily/metallicy peacock teal (794) and a dusty mint green creme (402).  I used 2 coats for each polish and they both went on like butter - as I have come to expect from Dior polishes.  I also used the medium blue-teal creme from the Bahia Duo (792).  It went on smooth and easy and covered my nail in 2 coats.  I then created a waterfall mani on my accent nail using a nail art striping brush.  I also used flocking powder on my pinky to create a fuzzy nail effect.  I dipped my wet nail into the pot of flocking powder and pressed it down firmly.  I shook and blew off the excess and my nail cam out looking like a blue stuffed animal!  I used 1 layer of topcoat on the polished nails (not the fuzzy nail).

Dior Creoles

HELLO polish friends!  It feels like forever since I've written up a post of my own!  Another huge thank you to all the ladies that helped keep my blog going while I've been on vacation!  It's much appreciated, big hugs to you all!  Now technically I am still on vacation, but I thought ahead and got a few posts prepped with pictures and notes so I am just rolling with it and posting these as time allows.  So bare with me through short, quick, and possibly haphazardly written up posts.

This beauty is Dior Creoles from the 2013 Summer Mix collection.  It's gorgeous, it's bright, it's playful, it made my iPhone camera go bonkers and take hazy pictures.  Fortunately my regular camera did a better job and I actually got some descent pictures.  There's just something about this shade of hot pink that I can't get enough of.  It's not neon, but it's pretty dang bright.  Creoles has a blue undertone which I think works nicely with my skin tone (or maybe it just works with my tan?).  This baby applied like a dream, just like all the other Diors I have reviewed.  2 creamy and luxurious coats for full coverage.  Bonus - you can see the pretty hidden shimmer in the macro!  I used 1 layer of topcoat.

Dior Sunnies

Good morning polish friends!  Here's the change of color I promised....Dior Sunnies.  You know I can't pass up a Dior, or a pretty red-orange, orange, pink or coral color.  So alas, the new Summer Mix 2013 collection will be the end of me.  It was nice knowing you.  (I kid).

Sunnies is a gorgeous color, though it's quite hard to pinpoint.  After checking with diorpress.com they describe Sunnies as the color of litchi.  After looking up litchi I still think it looks like ripe papaya.  Looks about as juicy as ripe papaya too.  Yum.  The formula is nice and creamy with that lovely smidgen of shimmer.  Nothing to report in regards to application….it's on par with all the other Diors I have reviewed, like buttah.  I used 3 coats and 1 layer of topcoat.
