Superficially Colorful Lacquer St. Patrick's Day Collection

Good afternoon again lovelies!  I have another fantabulous collection from Superficially Colorful Lacquers to share with you right now.  This collection of green beauties is the Sham Rockin' Collection and if you love green you are in for a big treat.  Sham Rockin' is of course in celebration of St. Patrick's Day.  Jin shared her inspiration for the collection with me and I'd like to share it with you!  "Shamrock is the young sprigs of the clover that symbolize St. Patrick's Day.  In Irish slang, Sham is a friend, mate, dude.  And according to the Urban Dictionary Shamrocking has several meanings but my favorite is yelling out loud and crying when you lose at a game you suck at horribly.  So this is my collection: a play of shades, finishes and words based on Irish slang."  The Sham Rockin' Collection will be available Saturday 2/28 at 12pm EST.  They will be $9 each.  I think it's time to jump in and enjoy this collection, don't you?

Boxing the Fox is a term for "robbing the orchard."  Jin describes this as a "silvery green holographic polish that is like an apple orchard worth robbing."  I love this gorgeous color, it's just so fresh!  The formula was great and it applied nicely.  I used 3 thin coats of Boxing the Fox and no topcoat.

The other holo in the collection is Stouting.  Stouting is "the act of drinking stout."  It's described as a "very dark forest green holographic polish that is as dark as the Irish beer."  I'm slightly biased because I adore deep, dark shades and this was a real beauty!  I found the formula and application of Stouting to be lovely.  I used 2 easy coats, the polish was creamy and opaque.  It does dry slightly dulled so you will want a layer of topcoat to gloss things up.

Stop the Lights is an "expression of incredulity or astonishment."  It's a "base of golden green flakies with different sized of green hex glitter."  I wasn't surprised at how much I liked this one, the gold flakies stand out so vibrantly and give the polish a nice dose of depth.  And while I love all things holo I have come to greatly appreciate the subtle (or not so subtle) details that make a polish lovely.  You can wear Stop the Lights as a topper or on it's own in a few coats.  I went with topper and alone so you could see it both ways.  The formula and application were both fabulous.  Stop the Lights built up well on it's own and made an easy accent nail over another color.  I used 3 coats on all nails except the accent, which is 1 layer of Stop the Lights over Stouting.  I finished with a layer of topcoat.

Finally, we have Acting the Maggot.  This is a gross term to me because I can't help but think of the nasty little bugs, but the description, "playing the fool, acting annoyingly stupid" really does make sense for the slang terminology.  Acting the Maggot is a "squishy medium green jelly polish with holographic micro glitter."  Well hello there sexy green jelly polish!  I loved the formula/finish on this one.  It was so shiny and sparkly at the same time.  The jelly finish built up beautifully on itself and the holo glitters added a perfect touch of sparkle.  I used 2 coats of Acting the Maggot and no topcoat.

Superficially Colorful Lacquers: The Autumn Collection

Good afternoon!  Hope your Saturday is treating you well.  I just finished up 1 soccer game for the day, 2 were canceled, and now I am strongly suggesting to my husband that we go to the pumpkin patch since we don't have pumpkins yet!  So while I attempt to convince him of that you can enjoy another upcoming collection from Superficially Colorful Lacquers.  This is The Autumn Collection and it's a set of 4 thermal (color changing) polishes with a sprinkling of matte white glitters and a touch of shimmer.  I have a few of Jin's thermals and they are all stunning, but I have to admit these are my favorites that she's ever made (I suppose I could be biased since I am a huge fan of all things Fall).  The colors are so beautiful and the thermal works perfectly.  The Autumn Collection will be available on Monday 10/27 an 12pm EST.  Now let's jump in to the pictures and enjoy some beautiful Autumn colors.

All Fall Down is a beautiful "brown to orange thermal polish with golden and green shimmer."  It's inspired by "autumn leaves turning brown slowly and falling down."  I love both of the shades here.  The brown is rich and yummy and the orange looks just like a pumpkin shade!  Formula and application were both awesome.  I used 2 coats of All Fall Down for full coverage and 1 layer of topcoat.

This is Unbe-leaf-able.  While I loved all the colors in this collection I think Unbe-leaf-able is my favorite.  It's described as  "dark black-brown that changes into pink, with red-pink shimmer."  It's gorgeous!  Again, I totally love both shades in this polish.  Unbe-leaf-able had a fabulous formula and applied like a dream.  I used 2 coats and finished with 1 layer of topcoat.

Moving right along, this is A Summer's Wave Goodbye.  You know I love red-orange and yellow so this was perfectly dreamy for me!  A Summer's Wave Goodbye is an "orange leaning red when cold, that transforms into a bright light yellow when hot."  This definitely makes me nostalgic for warmer summer days.  The formula and application were both perfect.  A Summer's Wave Goodbye applied to full coverage in 2 easy coats.  I finished with 1 layer of topcoat.

Finally we've come to my second favorite of the collection, Buried Treasure.  Buried Treasure is a "dark forest green that turns into medium-light green, with green and blue shimmer."  Hullo gorgeous. I especially love the darker green shade here.  It'll be perfect to transition into winter months.  Formula and application were both wonderful.  I used 2 coats of Buried Treasure for full coverage 1 layer of topcoat.

I just thought I'd throw these in the end of the post.  Naomi and I both eneded up wearing Unbe-leaf-able once I finished swatching.  I actualy painted her nails while she was asleep so when she woke up she was so happy to see a pretty pink polish on her nails.  When I showed her that in cold water the polish changed color she was totally amazed and had to show her preschool teachers as soon as we got her to class that morning.  

Superficially Colorful Fairies & Sprites

Good afternoon lovelies!  Just a fair warning that if all goes to schedule I will be bombarding you with posts in the next few days since I have a lot to share in regards to release dates and Halloween polish!  I want you to be prepared for shop openings and to get those last minute Halloween beauties that you will desperately want!  So let's get straight into the this post featuring one of the new Superficially Colorful Lacquer collections - Fairies and Sprites!  While this collection isn't meant to be a Halloween set it's actually kind of perfect for the holiday because not everyone wants to be something dark, vampy or ghoulish.  Lots of ladies, men and kids want to be pretty, wearing softer shades and covered in sparkly glitter.  So The Fairies and Sprites Collection is perfect for you if that's what you need to complete your costume OR just because you love the colors for any time of the year.  This is a textured collection so you know that fact alone has me 100% on board the Fairy and Sprite train.  I will go into detail for each individual polish in a minute, but first - the Fairies and Sprites Collection will be available on 10/27 at 12pm EST.  Now let's look at pictures!

Up first I have Aideen, inspired by a 'young Irish mythologies fairy."  Aideen is a soft "pink textured polish with red-pink glitter."  I like the addition of micro glitters and small hexs to the base because it adds some interest and creates a unique look to the texture.  The formula was great, easy to work with and apply.  I used 3 thin coats of Aideen and no topcoat.  This polish dried pretty quickly too so it'll be a great grab and go type polish when you need a quick paint job right before you leave.  

Eolande, inspired by "Celtic/Gaelic mythology" is a soft "lavender, violet textured polish with several sizes of purple glitter."  Eolande is such a gorgeous color and the texture is so slight, it definitely reminds me of a delicate little purple flower.  The micro glitter and slightest touch of holo shimmer are just perfect.  The formula and application of Eolande were both fabulous.  I used 3 thin coats for full coverage and no topcoat.  

Nixie, inspired by a "German mythological water sprite" is a "light blue textured polish with medium and light bit glitter."  It's so pretty!  I actually noticed a very slight amount of purple shimmer in here and it works so well.  Sometimes a light touch is best, right?  I also noticed that Nixie dries to an almost metallic, shiny finish.  It's very interesting and unique.  Nixie had a fantastic formula and applied perfectly.  No issues to report.  I used 3 thin coats of Nixie and no topcoat. 

Finally we have Shaylee, inspired by "the fairy princess of the fields from  Celtic/Gaelic mythology." Shalyee is a "green textured polish with green glitter."  This color is just stunning!  It falls between a fresh green and a soft sage.  The green glitters look so bright against the base.  I also saw some gold shimmer in here, playing with the holo shimmer.  Formula was just the slightest bit more sheer than the rest of the collection so I ended up using 4 coats of Shaylee.  Application was great.  No topcoat in these pictures.  

I did a little skittle mani using all 4 polishes from the collection.  Look how well they work together!  

I also did some  stamping too!  I used Model City Polish Ghost Stories for a soft grey color and Pueen plate #73.  I added topcoat to this mani so you could see what the Fairies and Sprites look like with a little gloss.
