Zoya Matte Velvets, Winter/Holiday 2015

Good morning y'all!  Christmas is only 12 days away.  12 DAYS!!  Are you ready?  I am not.  It's pretty sad how not ready I am actually.  I have nothing at all for my husband.  Help me people, what should I get him?  He's seriously the hardest person to shop for.  If he wore nail polish I could easily pick up some of these amazing Zoya Matte Velvets, alas he doesn't.  But maybe you have someone on your list that would love these?!  The Matte Velvets for Winter/Holiday 2015 were kind of a re-release of the finish that Zoya fans went ga-ga over!  If you don't remember HERE'S my post featuring the re-release of the original 6.  This finish is called matte velvet because it's a soft matte, not as harsh as some others out there.  These are currently available at Zoya for $10 each, or the 6 pack for $60 (you get free shipping when you spend over $30).  This entire collection is perfect for the holiday and finished up with Winter season.  Rich and festive, jewel tones that shimmer.  You could slap topcoat on these to really bring out that sparkly shimmer.  So enough gabbing, let's check these out!

Up first I have Aspen, a sparkly white with matte finish.  This one is like the most gorgeous, sparkly snow I have ever seen.  And the only snow I'd actually want to be around (I hate being cold).  I found the 1st coat a bit streaky.  It took 3 coats to even everything out and get full coverage.  White is usually a problematic color so I don't hold these things against it.  I actually think Aspen looks perfect after the 3 coats.  I did not use topcoat.

Sue is a beautiful champagne gold matte polish.  This one is right up my alley.  It's actually my favorite of the collection.  The formula was a little on the sheer side, I found that after 3 coats I could still slightly see my nail line.  But as I mentioned before, that doesn't make me like it any less.  Sue has got subtle charm and is so easy to wear.  No topcoat used.

Ok ok, now we're talking!  This is Amal, a classy crimson, shimmery red matte.  Amal is a red to bring any red polish lover to their knees.  Come on people, look at it!  This shade is perfection!  Formula and application were both great.  I used 3 coats of Amal for full coverage and no  topcoat.

Iris is a shimmery amythest matte polish.  I actually thought this one would be darker than it is because the pictures on Zoya seem that way, but I did end up liking Iris this way too.  It's almost a berry shade of purple.  I did find the formula sheer, not in a nail line showing way, but in a thin, pulls the polish off the top of your nail as you stroke the brush down.  You can see that on a few of my fingers.  I used 2 coats of Iris and no topcoat.

Here's another color that screams Christmas to me, Honor.  Talk about a great emerald green to release before the holidays started!  The formula and application were both great.  Smooth and easy application in 2 coats.  I will throw in a disclaimer though - Honor is a stainer.  I had green all over my fingers and nails after I removed the polish.

Rounding out the collection is Yves, a shimmery deep sapphire matte.  So I totally swooned over this beauty for a while.  The color and finish are absolutely stunning.  I used 2 coats of Yves for full coverage.  Sadly I do have to warn you that this too is a stainer.  Be prepared to have blue tinged fingers for a while after removing this one.
