Zoya Matte Velvets, Winter/Holiday 2015

Good morning y'all!  Christmas is only 12 days away.  12 DAYS!!  Are you ready?  I am not.  It's pretty sad how not ready I am actually.  I have nothing at all for my husband.  Help me people, what should I get him?  He's seriously the hardest person to shop for.  If he wore nail polish I could easily pick up some of these amazing Zoya Matte Velvets, alas he doesn't.  But maybe you have someone on your list that would love these?!  The Matte Velvets for Winter/Holiday 2015 were kind of a re-release of the finish that Zoya fans went ga-ga over!  If you don't remember HERE'S my post featuring the re-release of the original 6.  This finish is called matte velvet because it's a soft matte, not as harsh as some others out there.  These are currently available at Zoya for $10 each, or the 6 pack for $60 (you get free shipping when you spend over $30).  This entire collection is perfect for the holiday and finished up with Winter season.  Rich and festive, jewel tones that shimmer.  You could slap topcoat on these to really bring out that sparkly shimmer.  So enough gabbing, let's check these out!

Cupcake Polish Holiday Magic, Winter/Holiday 2015

Good evening lovelies!  Sorry for disappearing over the holiday!  I went out of town with my family after Thanksgiving and enjoyed a mini-vacation.  The only laptop time I had was to partake in any Black Friday/Small Business Saturday sales.  And to share sales on my Facebook page.  So that's that!  Hopefully your weekend was as uneventful and enjoyable as mine was.  But now I'm back with a holo-tactic post for today! Cupcake Polish will be releasing the Holiday Magic collection tomorrow, 12/1 at 8pm Central.  This is a collection of 6 pastel, super holo polishes with a sprinkling of magical holo glitter!  Each polish will be $13 each, but for the first 24 hours you can get the entire set at the discounted price of $72.  So let's jump in and check out these beauties!

Sea Lore Sea-son's Treatings Collection, Winter/Holiday 2015

Good evening!  Hopefully you aren't all elbow deep in stuffing and cranberry sauce.  I am so horrible, I haven't even started my dishes yet!  I have a race in the morning and then need to be at my family's house by noon!  Eeeep.  Looks like I'll be up late cooking, boooooo.  Nobody to blame but myself.  But how can I focus on cooking when I have such gorgeous polish to share with you?  The collection I have tonight is the upcoming Sea Lore Polish Sea-son's Treatings Collection, a 5 piece set full of shimmer, holo and glitter!  This is a really nice collection, I enjoyed how the names tied in to the shades.  Sea-son's Treatings will be available on Black Friday (11/27) and I believe each polish will be $10 USD.  So let's delve into these sweet nail polish treats!

Smitten Polish Christmas In Stars Hollow, Winter/Holiday 2015

Good evening!  Are you in bed yet?  No?  Neither am I.  Even thought I should hit the sack early because I have to get up at 6am again to get in a 10 mile run with my running buddy.  I will do so but it will be grudgingly and I'll likely still be asleep for the first half hour.  So since I'm still awake and you're still awake let's talk more polish!  Another brand that will be releasing a fantastic collection on Black Friday is my beloved Smitten Polish!  The Christmas In Hollows Eve is a fun collection, inspired by Gilmore girls and it's full of a variety of finishes; glitter, shimmer, holo - they are all FANTASTIC.  And let me start by saying I'm sorry, I didn't watch this series so I can't comment on how any of these actually relate to the show.  Maybe one of you fans can let me know!  Christmas In Stars Hollow releases on 11/27 at 2pm Central.  The pre-order will be open for 24 hours.  Since it's Black Friday there's a code for you to use!  THANKS2015 will get you 20% off your entire order (excluding the new Christmas In Stars Hollow collection).  This code is also only for 24 hours.  So happy shopping and buy all the Smitten!

Blue Christmas Mani

Good afternoon!  We are getting down to the wire here to share Christmas/Holiday themed manis so I figured I may as well just get them all posted!  I did a Blue Christmas mani and I was extremely happy with how it turned out.  Let's go ahead and look at the pictures!

Lynnderella: Shop, Blog, Facebook, Instagram

I started with Lumina Lacquer Homesick at Space Camp on my thumb, middle and accent nails.  I used 2 coats but easily could have used 1.  I wanted the richest blue hue I could get and this was the perfect choice!  Plus it's holo!   I topped my middle nail with 2 coats of Lynnderella Ice the Snowcake, a lovely white glitter topper that also has a nice serving of holo and iridescent shimmers.

On my index and pinky nails I used The Nail Junkie Snowflake.  This shimmery white polish is absolutely perfection!  It's soft and delicate and really looks like snow glinting in the light.  I used 3 coats and as you can see there is still a very slight visible nail line, but it really looks clean and classy so it didn't bother me one tiny bit.  It gives a "my nails but better" look.  I then got adventurous and hand drew snowflakes over Snowflake using Homesick at Space Camp.  I finished everything up with a thick layer of topcoat. LOVE!

Zoya Wishes Collection, Winter 2014

Morning ya'll!  Today I am officially moving into Winter collections!  While you know I do love my Fall colors (and will likely continue to were them until the Spring) I enjoy the luxurious, rich and elegant shades that Winter brings too.  I also love the playful nods to Mr & Mrs Claus, snowmen, snowflakes, candy canes, reindeer, gingerbread and the plethora of entertaining holiday movies from both indie and mainstream brands.  The Zoya Wishes Collection falls into the more elegant category and there are some really lovely opaque colors here.  There are also some new PixieDust polishes, but I think Zoya changed their formula a bit on these ones...I'll get into that later. The Wishes Collection is currently available for $9 USD.  Now let's delve into the post!

*press sample*

I wanted to start with the opaque colors and the first one I picked up was Willa, "a full-coverage, densely pigmented onyx black cream."  It's a pretty standard color and finish but it does have the Zoya formula that is so amazing.  I will admit that I wish Willa was a 1-coater, that would have made it a real stand out for me.  I used 2 coats of Willa and no topcoat.

Prim is a "velvet blue metallic" shade.  I typically don't read other reviews of a product before I post my own so my opinion isn't biased but there was a lot of chatter in the blogger forums about the streaky formula of Prim.  After the first coat I did notice the streaks to be very apparent so I used a lightly dampened makeup sponge and applied the second coat by lightly sponging on the second layer.  Guess what - brush strokes be gone (or at least highly minimized)!  Prim had a super opaque and creamy formula, it would have been a perfect 1-coater were it not for the brush strokes.  I finished with 1 layer of topcoat

Haven was easily my favorite of the collection.  Haven is described as a "true holiday plum liquid metal with a thin vein of orchid."  Gorgeous.  The formula was rich, creamy and opaque.  The application was a breeze.  I used 2 easy coats of Haven for full coverage and finished with 1 layer of topcoat.

Moving along to the new PixieDust polishes.  Now I mentioned earlier that the formula was changed,  Not only are these 3 not have the PixieDust formula we have come to love and desire, but they also don't even have the same formula as the chunkier Ultra PixieDusts.  The texture formula on these was quite disappointing, it's merely glitter grit and not the sandy feel.  The jelly formula took a very long time to dry on top of that.  This was my finding for all 3 of these polishes.

Imogen is a "black crystal Magical PixieDust with holographic hex glitter."  I liked the silver holo glitters in Imogen, but I would have liked the polish more overall if the formula were matte finish instead of jelly.  I used 2 coats of Imogen and no topcoat.

Nori is a "sapphire blue Magical PixieDust with holographic hex glitter."  Nori is actually a stunning color and the silver glitter is complimentary to the base color.  I guarantee that I will wear this again but with topcoat since I am not a fan of the glitter grit feel.  I used 2 coats of Nori for full coverage and no topcoat.

Finally we have Thea, a "deep amethyst Magical PixieDustwith an orchid flash."  I really like the color of this one too - but as mentioned before, the finish and dry time is disappointing.  I used 2 coats of Thea and no topcoat.
