Addicted to Holos Indie Box, April 2015

Good evening!  I am very excited to share the upcoming Addicted to Holos Indie Box!  I love this new box for several reasons.  It's made up of popular makers, it's bi-monthly, it's all holo!  Like the February release, the box consists of 5 polishes from Blue Eyed Girl Lacquer, Literary Lacquers, Philly Loves Lacquer, Sweet Heart Polish and The Polish Bar.  The theme does seem to revolve around rainy Spring days and I have my fingers crossed that over here in California we get some of that grey skied, sprinkly weather!  The April Addicted to Holos Indie Box will be available for pre-order from 4/1 to 4/8.  Boxes will ship 2 weeks after the pre-order closes.  The box is $60 plus shipping to US and international locations.

All my pictures are in direct sunlight

I went from lightest to darkest (because I always have to have some rhyme or reason to my blog post order) so first up is Literary Lacquers Little Sleep Song.  Amy describes this polish as a "creamy light grey linear holo with silver glass fleck and white flakies, inspired by the poem April Rain Song by Langston Hughes."  You want to know what this polish reminds ME of?  This Disney song from Bambi.  I loved the shimmery grey color, it had more depth than a straight up holo.  The formula and application of Little Sleep Song were both fabulous.  I used 3 easy coats for full coverage and no topcoat.

Cotton Candy Clouds from Blue Eyed Girl Lacquer is a real beauty!  Julie describes this as a "pinky-lilac creamy holo with strong green shimmer."  I love the coolness of this purple.  I did a poor job capturing the green shimmer but you can see it slightly in a few pictures.  The formula and application were both great.  Creamy formula that applied smoothly.  Cotton Candy Clouds is dang near a one coater.  I have a light hand so a regular painter could easily achieve full opacity with 1 coat.  I ended up using 2 and no topcoat.

The Polish Bar End of The Rainbow is a stunning contribution to the April box.  Janice says it's a "light periwinkle blue holo with silver glass flecks."  While I loved loved LOVED this color, it was a very sheer and thin polish.  I ended up using 5 coats of End of The Rainbow and I can still see my nail line.  But I do think it's worth it, just look at that holo and that gorgeous magenta shimmer!  I don't think shorter nails will have the same issue as I did with visible nail line.  But to be on the safe side I'd recommend using a similar base color to start with.  No topcoat.

Esther from Philly Loves Lacquer brings us Rain Boots and Puddles, a "blueish teal linear holo with blue flecks and shimmer."  This is such a pretty teal, so bright and happy for a polish inspired by rainy days!  I actually think this will be a great teal for days out at the beach this summer.  Rain Boots and Puddles is full of glinting holo particles and blue sparkles.  The formula was lovely and full bodied.  It applied nicely too.  I used 2 coats and no topcoat.

And last but not least by a long shot is Sweet Heart Polish April Showers.  Cassandra describes this holo beauty as a "juicy deep blue jelly linear holographic with tons of shifty flakes."  Hullo gorgeous!   April Showers is such a vibrant color it's sure to brighten any one's day during a gloomy Spring rain storm.  The formula was great, while it is a squishy jelly it's expected to have some visible nail line but it did build up well in 3 coats.  Application was nice and easy.  No topcoat.

KBShimmer Fall Collection 2014 (partial review & press release)

Good morning all!  I've got a partial review of a fabulous Fall Collection from KBShimmer to share with you today.  The Fall Collection is made up of 6 lovely and fresh Fall colors, in a variety of finishes - cremes, holos and a glitter topper!  Actually Christy mentioned that there will be a few more polishes coming out with this collection.  Be sure to follow KBShimmer on Facebook for more details about this launch!  The Fall Collection has a tentative release date of September 1st.

*PRESS SAMPLE*

Up first I have on Up & Cunning, a deep teal linear holo.  Wow, what a gorgeous color!  I am totally swooning over Up & Cunning.  The formula on this was really nice.  It was sheer on the first coat but built up beautifully and to full opacity in 3 coats.  I did not use topcoat.

Next is How You Dune?, a greige cream.  This is a perfect neutral color to match all your cozy Fall sweaters and tall boots.  How You Dune? is also a perfect palette cleanser after all the summer brights that were popular this summer.  How You Dune? had a super creamy formula and applied like a dream.  I used 2 coats and no topcoat.

Finally I have Kiss & Spell, a star themed Halloween glitter topper.  Oh my gosh this makes me so excited I want Halloween polishes to come out already!  Kiss & Spell is loaded with glitter, it comes out easily and spread well on my nails.  I love all the fun colored stars!  I used 2 coats of Kiss & Spell, a little dabbing and 1 layer of topcoat.

Stonewashed is a dusty navy cream that will reach full opacity in 1-2 coats.

Rust No One is a rusty orange linear holographic polish.  It reaches full opacity in 2-3 coats.  I'm drooling over how pretty this one is!

Hugs & Wishes is a lavender cream that reached full opacity in 2 coats.

Blue Eyed Girl Lacquer Far From The Sun Summer 2104 Collection

Good morning!  I have a HUGE post to share with you today and trust me you are going to want to see all of these pictures!  Julie, the mastermind behind Blue Eyed Girl Lacquer (BEGL) will be releasing the Far From The Sun collection on 7/20/14 at 3:30 pm EDT.  All 8 of the polishes that make up this collection are AMAZING!  I know holo is a huge favorite amongst polish lovers right now and this is a set is full of win!  Even the odd man out texture is perfection.  So mark it in your calendar, set your alarm and be ready for some serious shopping!  Now let's jump in and check out the beauties that make up the Far From The Sun Collection!

Blue Eyed Girl Lacquer:  Shop, Facebook, Instagram

I went in semi-rainbow order so up first is Dawn Breaks.  Dawn Breaks is a fabulous deep rose pink, leaning magenta linear holo  I am a major sucker for any rosey shade of polish and Dawn Breaks is truly gorgeous.  There seems to be some very fine purple shimmer playing in there with the holo pigment.  The formula was fantastic!  Very creamy and opaque - Dawn Breaks was a 1 coater for me (ONE COATER ALERT!).  Application was wonderful.  No topcoat used.

*shade*

The next pink shade in the collection is If You're A Seascape.  This is a gorgeous pink coral with a linear holo finish.  But it's so much more!  It's also full of lovely pink and orange shimmer.  If You're A Seascape had perfectly opaque coverage in 1 coat (yes indeed we've got another ONE COATER!)!  The formula was so rich and creamy, and application was perfect.  No topcoat used.

*shade*

I'm sure you want to see some comparisons so here is Out. For. A. Walk...Bitch. (ring), Dawn Breaks (middle) and If You're A Seascape (index).  All shown with 1 coat.

Sail Her Don't Sink Her is the only non-holo in the collection and it's definitely a stand alone polish!  I love texture polish almost as much as I love holos and Sail Her Don't Sink Her is pretty darn fabulous!  Not only is it packed full of red micro glitters, but it also has a healthy helping of holo micro glitters for the bling factor.  The formula was a bit thicker than your standard polish, yet it's the same consistency as other indie textures, and not difficult to use what so ever.  Application was nice and easy.  I'd suggest letting each layer dry completely before adding the next.  I used 2 coats of Sail Her Don't Sink Her and no topcoat.

*shade*

Here are some pictures of Sail Her Don't Sink Her with topcoat.  Wow - look how sparkly the holo micro glitters are!  They really stand out with the addition of topcoat.

Moving right along to one of my favorites of the collection...Intersecting Lines In The Sand.  This is a golden yellow linear holo that has a nice touch of silvery/blue flakies.  The color is absolutely amazing and very much reminds me of sunshine and summertime.  The formula and application were both superb.  I found this polish to be a bit more sheer than the pinks so I used 2 coats of Intersecting Lines In The Sand.  No topcoat used.

*shade*

Born Of The Sea is a lovely mossy green linear holo with what appears to be a light dose of silvery shimmer.  There are also a bit of blue flakies for added interest.  This is a unique shade of green because most holos are a deeper color or mint.  The formula and application were both great.  I used 2 coats of Born Of The Sea and no topcoat.

*shade*

I've got a comparison of Born Of The Sea and Dorkhead?! You Slash Me With Your Words.  I used 2 coats of each.  Born Of The Sea on my index and ring nails, Dorkhead on my middle and pinky.

We've reached my other favorite of the collection, Chlorine Llight.  This cobalt blue beauty is a gorgeous linear holo with a green flame and a small dose of micro flakies.  I love that Chlorine Light is so bright, bordering on a neon shade of blue.  It's completely gorgeous.  Formula and application were both amazing.  I used 2 layers and no topcoat.

*shade*

The other blue in the collection is Ocean Warmed By The Sun.  I am actually having a difficult time placing the shade of this blue.  It's not turquoise, not teal, not sky.  What I do know is that it is really beautiful and refreshing.  It reminds me of super clear, tropical waters.  I'm ready for vacation!  Formula and application on Ocean Warmed By The Sun weren't as easy as the others in the collection.  It wanted to pool on me a bit and kind of wrinkled up on one nail.  Keep in mind these could have been user error and I love the color so much it wouldn't deter me from buying it.  I used 2  layers of Ocean Warmed By The Sun and no topcoat.

*shade*

I've got a blue comparison for you now.  I compared Love Makes You Do The Wacky (ring), Ocean Warmed By The Sun (middle) and Chlorine Light (index).  I used 2 coats of each color, though I could have used a 3rd coat of Wacky.

Finally, we've come to the last polish in the collection, Fare The Wind.  What a beautiful purple linear holo this is.  Fare The Wind has lovely light purple and blue shimmer in it and it's noticeable in shaded and indoor lighting.  Formula and application were both fabulous.  I used 2 layers of Fare The Wind and no topcoat.

*shade*

And here's a last comparison for you...I have Fare The Wind on my index and ring fingers.  We Saved The World, I Say We Party is on my middle and pinky nails.  I used 2 coats of each polish.
