Color Club The Uptown

Good afternoon!  It's rainy over here so I am about to start a pot of stew and the recipe looks so good I can't wait to try it.  Nothing like the smell of garlic and onion simmering in olive oil to get everyone in the house ready for dinner.  But before I do that I just wanted to share a couple pictures of a Color Club polish I recently bought.  So let's take a little looksie!

Color Club: Website, Facebook, Instagram

This is The Uptown from the Fall 2013 Girl About Town collection.  The Uptown has a sheer purple jelly base and is loaded with color shifting flakes.  So many colors wanted to show up - red, copper, green...you can literally see a rainbow of colors in The Uptown.  But different lighting will give you differnect effects.  Also, the movement of the color shifting flakies made it hard for my camera to focus on my nails, I tried my best I promise!  Now I know from reading other posts that The Uptown builds up on it's own but I chose to wear it over a base color hoping to get the most color shift bang for my buck!  So here I have 2 coats of Barry M Indigo, a pretty blurple creme.  I layered 1 coat of The Uptown over Indigo.  The Uptown had a fabulous formula with loads of flakies coming out.  The flakies spread easily on my nails.  They did dry with a little texture, so I used 1 thick layer of topcoat to smooth them out.

CrowsToes Indian Summer AND a Giveaway!

Hullo dears!  I am so in love with the polish I have to show you today!  It's one of the most fabulous chrome polishes I have ever seen and I literally drooled over it from the moment I saw the first swatches.  I purchased this from Overall Beauty - a great place to shop indie brand nail polish!  There is also a great selection of mineral makeup and natural body care items and even things for the male in your life that enjoys a little pampering.  The giveaway is at the end of the post!

Overall Beauty: Shop, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter

This is Indian Summer from the Better Late Than Never Fall 2013 collection.  Indian Summer is described as a "burgundy based purple with magenta to orange color shift."  I had different colors show up in different lighting so you get to enjoy a pretty great rainbow with this polish.  You can really see the deep indigo-purple when I took pictures indoors.  But the sunshine pictures show the magenta and really well.  I loved it equally in both lighting settings.  Indian Summer had a fabulous formula and application was great.  I used 3 thin coats for full coverage.  Would you look at that fabulous, glossy shine?  I did not use topcoat.

Smitten Polish Turning Leaves Tree-O: Zelda's Fall-ly, I Never Drink…Wine & Cocoa & Cardis

Good morning lovelies!  I have a gorgeous trio of holos to show you today.  I had seen swatches of  the Turning Leaves Tree-O go by on my Facebook feed and just knew I had to start stalking.  So stalk I did and I caught the pre-sale and now they are mine, bwahahahah!  This is my first time trying Smitten Polish and I am very impressed.  The colors are rich and unique.  The formula was so easy to apply it practically did it without any effort on my part.  It's definitely a brand I will be purchasing from again!  If you are interested in buying Smitten Polish you can do so on their Etsy page.  You can also follow Smitten on Facebook.

Please don't be mad but the first one I am showing you is no longer available.  Zelda's Fall-ly was a limited edition and I'm glad I decided I needed the trio and not just 1 or 2.  I truly would have been pouty if I didn't have this beauty in my possession.  The creator behind Smitten describes Zelda's Fall-ly as "a warm, bright orange-leaning linear holographic polish.  She appears as more of a true red in direct sunlight."  I didn't see any orange but the red is stunning!  I found it to be one of the easiest reds to wear with easy application and clean up.  The formula was simply amazing.  I used 2 coats of Zelda's Fall-ly and 1 layer of topcoat for the pictures below.

Up next is I Never Drink…Wine.  This was actually the one that caught my eye when initially saw the trio.  I was smitten (pun intended).  I've been quite obsessed with holos in this red wine color and I don't see the obsession stopping any time soon.  I Never Drink…Wine is perfect.  I adore the color.  It is simply described as a "deep wine-colored linear holographic polish."  Another amazing formula/application here.  I used 2 coats of INDW and 1 layer of topcoat.

Finally we have Cocoa & Cardis.  At this moment it's the only one available in the Smitten shop.  If you love it get it now.  I love it.  Alot.  Dark chocolatey brown and linear holo is a huge win in my book.  The color on Cocoa & Cardis is amazing.  Deep and rich, can't you just taste the chocolate?  Doesn't it make you want to wrap up in your favorite cozy cardigan?   2 big yes's for me.  Just like the last 2, application and formula were perfect.  Lovely and smooth flowing polish that really makes you feel amazing when it's on your nails!  I used 2 coats of C&C and 1 layer of topcoat.

Zoya Satin Collection

Good morning readers!  I am already enjoying the Fall and feeling so inspired by the season.  Today I have another fun mani for you!  I recently received the Zoya Satin collection in a swap from one of my polish besties and they are so lovely!  I used almost the entire collection and the "fan brush method" on this design and love how it is jewel tone gorgeousness!  Zoya is a great brand with very high quality polish.  I have a well rounded plethora of Zoyas and they are all fantastic.  It's absolutely worth it to follow Zoya on Facebook and Instagram (zoyanailpolish).  They have frequent promos and freebies.  So let's just jump into the details of how I created this look and the pictures!

I used Giovanna, an emerald green with a pinch of teal and pretty shimmer.  It's really lovely and I loved it so much more on the nail than in the bottle!  I only needed 2 coats of Giovanna for full coverage.  Application and formula were both perfection (this goes for all the polishes I tried from the Satin collection).  I also used 1 coat of Neve, a shimmery deep blurple.  I then used a nail art fan brush to create a haphazard striped look.  I used the polish brush and dabbed a little in a small glass dish, then used the fan brush to pick up the polish and swiped the fan brush with polish over my nails.  I have seen this method before but mainly with horizontal stripes.  So I went for vertical.  I am really happy with how it turned out.  I used Neve, Channing (a rusty, shimmer red-orange), and Mason (a shimmery berry-violet) with the fan brush on top of Giovanna.  I also used 2 coats of Maria-Luisa, a glittery gold topper, over Neve.  I finished this all off with 1 layer of topcoat.
