March 2019 Polish Pickup & Indie Pickup, Album Covers

Good morning people!  Happy Friday.  Rain is coming back and I'm still licking my wisdom teeth removal wounds.  But you know what, I'm not going to sit around feeling sorry for myself today.  I'm gonna get out and get ice cream!  But first I'm going to share some of the upcoming goodies from the March Pickups!  The theme is Album Covers - very cool, I can totally dig it.  As I've done with the last few posts, I will put them all in one large post so you can easily find it again later and have all the  pricing info at your fingertips.  The March PPU & IPU will be open from 3/1 - 3/4.  Let's jump in and check out some of the goodies!

Going in alphabetical order, just because it's easiest.  Let's start this party off with Alter Ego.  This is In A Gadda Da Vida, inspired by Iron Maiden's album of the same name.  Funny story is that the band member that came up with the name was pretty intoxicated when he told the songwriter what he wanted (In The Garden of Eden) but his slurred words came out In A Gadda Da Vida.  This polish is a  dusty purple with some green and coral shimmer.  Nice shade, nice finish, and it's pretty unique too!  No issues with the formula or application.  2 coats plus topcoat.  In A Gadda Da Vida will be $8.50, no cap.

Alter Ego also has a Wax Melt available in the IPU this month.  It's inspired by the Little Green Apples side B of The Temptations album, Puzzle People.  First let me say I didn't get to actually melt the wax because I don't have a warmer.  I'm an essential oil person so I only have a diffuser at my house.  But from just feeling and smelling the solid wax I could tell it was well made.  Its a light but crisp green apple scent - sweet and tart.  I don't think it would be an overpowering scent.  You can get the wax melt for $5, no cap.

Dreamland Lacquer picked a most hilarious album cover and really nailed it.  Noelie was inspired by the Best of Tom Jones album, specifically a picture of him on the cover with such an unnatural tan he is literally a bronze-orange color.  She came up with Tanner than Tom Jones, a tri thermal that goes from it's warm state of a coral pink to to coppery orange to a deeper brown when cold.  It's full of orange to green aurora pigment.  My pictures of this one are different nail length than the others because I was unhappy with my initial pictures, which came out more vibrant and almost neon.  The polish itself has a beautiful dusty finish and rich colors, and while the pink is bright it is not quite neon.  So I have pictures in indirect artificial light to try and show the true colors.  Formula and application were both fabulous.  I used 2 coats and topcoat, no problems.  The thermal shift was easy to achieve.  You can buy Tanner Than Tom Jones for $12, 180/US, 20/UK caps.

Wait, what?!!  Another thermal!  This one is by ellagee and was inspired by the album Funhouse by Pink.  It's a coral-red to clear with pink to gold shifty shimmer and gold flakes.  Wow, this is so pretty! I love the color combo, the clear with gold flakes gives the illusion of a golden peach shade and the coral red pops against it.  Formula and application were both great, no issues.  I used 3 thin coats and topcoat to finish.  Funhouse will be $12, no cap.

Ok ok, there must have been a secret memo about thermals because here's a THIRD thermal for you! KBShimmer brings us The Kid, inspired by the character Prince played in the movie, which was after his album Purple Rain.  In it's cold state (that you can see at my tips) it's a dark eggplant with purple/copper/gold shifty micro flakes.  As it warms up it's more of a grape-y purple then to a fuchsia pink.  I wasn't able to capture the pink shade, mostly because if it doesn't happen easily or immediately I don't really have time to fiddle with it.  Hopefully I'll be able to play with it again soon to try and get that third color to come out and play.  Otherwise I found the polish to be lovely.  I used 3 thin coats and topcoat to finish.  The Kid will be $10, no cap.

This month will be KBShimmer's first with the IPU crew!  Yeah!  Raspberry Beret is a colorful sugar scrub, also inspired by the Purple Rain album.  The scent is sweet and tart and reminds me of candy.  I scooped a little out in to my hands and rubbed it on my skin with a bit of water.  I loved that it bubbled up, almost like a soap scrub.  The juicy scent is really nice and it doesn't linger too long, for those of you with scent aversions.  My skin felt clean and soft after use, no residue left over. Raspberry Beret will be $10, no cap.

Lollipop Posse is back with a fabulous polish (I swear she never let's me down with unique and gorgeous shades).  Among A Million Same is inspired by A Perfect Circle's 3 Libras single cover.  This is a jaw dropping vibrant blurple crelly (I see it more as a purple with blue around the edges) with red/green/gold aurora shimmer, copper/red/green/gold iridescent flakes and pink/red/green iridescent flakes.  I just love all the things going on in this polish, the base color, the flakes, it all works so great to create this awesome pop of color.  I used 3 thin coats and I do still have some VNL, but as it's a crelly it's not expected to be opaque.  Among A Million Same will be $13, no cap.

Moving right along, here's Stella Chroma Turtle In The Clouds.  It's inspired by the Phish album Kasvot Vaxt. Turtle In The Clouds is a breath-taking soft sky blue with iridescent flakes and pink/gold shifting shimmer.  AND it's got a soft matte finish!  What a beauty!  I built up the color in 3 thin coats and use no topcoat so you could really see the matte.  I didn't have any issues with the formula or application.  Turtle In The Clouds will be $12, no cap.

Stella Chroma is bringing back one of her most lux sugar scrub scents, Amber Glow. It's warm, sensual, earthy and exotic.  And its totally a scent you'd smell at a Phish concert.  As always, the scrub is fantastic.  Perfect amount of grit to slough off the dead skin, but with just the right level of oils and butters to leave your skin soft and supple.  The scent lingers for just a bit and it's not overpowering.  Amber Glow will be available at the PPU site, in a 2.5oz jar and will be $5.50.
