Smitten Polish The Second Lobster

Howdy there dears!  I've got another post featuring my longer, rounder nails.  A while back Noelie from Smitten Polish surprised me by sending this polish along to me with an order.   She knows how much I love The First Lobster and this was a prototype batch that she had of it...named The Second Lobster.  I love indie brands small batches and prototypes.  They are special and unique and different.  They are also only available in very small supply so that makes them even more precious.  The Second Lobster isn't available to purchase but Smitten Polish has so many gorgeous colors to chose from in the shop, including the brand new Flights of Fancy collection!  Head over and check it out!  Now let's delve into the pictures.

*product was a gift*

The Second Lobster is a coral-red linear holographic polish.  It is such a Jen polish it's ridiculous.  This color is my jam!  The Second Lobster had a perfect formula and applied like a dream.  I only needed 2 coats for full coverage and no topcoat.  Look at that gorgeous linear holo!  Swoon.

I did a comparison of The First Lobster and The Second Lobster.  I saw 2 differences.  The Second Lobster has a stronger holo and is a lighter shade of red.  I have 2 coats of The First Lobster on my accent nail, 2 coats of The Second Lobster on all others.  No topcoat.

Candy Cane Stripe Christmas Mani

Good evening ya'll.  I am so darn tired.  If my body touches the couch or bed I will surely pass out.  I stayed up late last night and had to get up bright and early for soccer.  It was soccer all day.  I'm finally home and feeling tired, sore, a little beat up.  I am about to start wrapping Christmas presents and what better timing to share a Christmas mani with you!  I can't remember why I did this one, but I LOVE how it turned out!  It's not overdone, the glitter and holo stripes work perfectly together.  So let's delve in to what I used to create this look.

I'm a little too tired to be wordy tonight so I'll just give you the rundown of what's on each nail.  The formula and application of all 4 were fantastic.  These are 2 of my all time favorite indie brands and they never disappoint.  Hope you enjoy my festive pictures too!

Festive Nails for Family Picture Day

Hey hey again!  One more post tonight.  I'm out on the town this evening for a double date of dinner and drinks, wearing my not-so-ugly Christmas Reindeer sweater.  I thought I'd found a good ugly sweater to wear out but I really thought it was pretty darn cute.  Well all my friends said was cute too so there we have it.  Not-so-ugly.  Anyways, I wore a very cute sweater for my annual family picture day and these were the festive nails I did to match!  My kids wore red, the hubby and I wore black so I incorporated both in my nails.  And I hadn't done a nice accent nail in a while so I did just that!  Let's look!

*nothing to disclose*

I started with Smitten Polish Nose So Bright.  This is one of my favorite red holos EVER.  I will cry some seriously sad tears when this bottle is empty.  The formula and application of Nose So Bright are both perfection.  I used 2 coats of Nose So Bright and 1 layer of topcoat.

I then did an accent nail, starting with a plain back creme.  I sponged both Lumina Lacquer Soleil and Different Dimension Big Bang onto the end of my nail.  The blend of silver and gold uber holo micro glitters is just so luxurious.  I finished this off with 1 thick layer of topcoat.

And just because I thought you might be interested in seeing it...here's my not-so-ugly Christmas sweater.  I found it at the JCrew Factory store and after discounts I only paid $18 for it!  Steal!

Memorial Day Mani!

Good afternoon!  As most of us Americans are getting ready to enjoy a day off of work and school, firing up the BBQ's and drinking a few cold ones let's remember the real reason behind this holiday.  Memorial Day is a day of remembrance and gratefulness to those men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country.  To uphold the rights and freedom that we enjoy every day.  Today Americans remember the fallen soldiers who have served our great country.  I am very grateful for all the US soldiers, alive and passed on.  Thank you so much for your dedication to the USA.

For today I chose to go patriotic with my mani, but I needed to stay true to myself so I started out with 3 amazing holos!  Smitten Polish The First Lobster (red), Glitter Gal Light As A Feather (white) and Ninja Polish Glamorous (blue).  I topped them with a reverse glitter gradient of Lumina Lacquer Young Americans.  I seriously adore this red, white and blue glitter polish with all it's hearts, stars and circles!  I am very pleased with how my mani turned out.

HOLO WEEK: Day 6 - Smitten Polish

WOW, I can't believe I am at Day 6 of Holo Week already!  Looking back on my previous posts I have been drooling over all the holo goodness!  And with the amount of holos I received in the mail this week I will have to do another Holo Week again soon to show you all of those!  But today's post is one of my favorite indie brands...Smitten Polish.  I have only worn a few Smitten's in the past (the Falling Leaves Tree-O) and it was love at first sight.  So I've kind of stalked the brand since then.  Well I have more (and plan on getting even more with the next restock), so let's take a look at them!

Smitten Polish: Shop, Facebook, Instagram

This is Be Mine! and it was released as a Valentine's polish.  Look at how sweet and pretty it is!  Be Mine! is an uber bright "bubblegum pink" linear holo and it's just perfect.  The first coat was just a little sheer so I ended up using 3 layers for complete coverage.  The formula and application were both great.  No topcoat.

After I bought the Falling Leaves Tree-O this was the next one caught in my radar beam.  Electric Lime is just that!  I adore this polish.  Electric Lime is amazing and bright neon green linear holo.  Again, the first coat was sheer and I ended up using 3 layers with no topcoat.  Application and formula were both fantastic.

The First Lobster is one of the best red linear holos I have come across.  It's actually described as a "very warm orange-leaning red" holo, but it's looks more like a red with orange undertones on me.   But mostly red.  The First Lobster had fabulous coverage, I used 2 coats and no topcoat.  Formula and application were both wonderful.

And finally, What Sorcery Is This?  This is a "bright purple, cool toned" linear holo.  I love this shade of purple.  It really works for me.  What Sorcery Is This? had a formula more like Electric Lime and Be Mine!, so the first coat was sheer.  But with 3 layers I had full coverage.
