Summer of Untrieds day 28: Shimmer

Good morning dears!  Today is day 28 of the Summer of Untried challenge!  I can't believe it's almost over and I've posted an untried every single day this month!  The theme for today was shimmer.  I know I have a lot of polishes with a shimmer finish but I decided to use the Shimmer Polish brand instead.  Mainly because I have had this particular polish for about 2 years and haven't tried it.  Yes, I wanted it for the name but I was very happy with what a pretty polish it was too!  So there are 3 more days and if you want you can still post your untried polish mani pics on Facebook or Instagram using #summerofuntrieds, #julyuntriedchallenge and #wishesofablueeyedgirl.

Shimmer Polish Jennifer is a gorgeous blend of "squares, circles, hexs, dot and shimmer" in tones of "pink, blue, periwinkle and sky blue."  I'm pretty sure I have an original version of Jennifer, so if she updated it that's why there are "dots, circles" included in the description, I have no circles or dots in my bottle.  I found the formula and application of Jennifer to be great.  The glitters came out in abundance and spread evenly on my nails.  I used 2 coats of Jennifer over ManGlaze Ilf.

Shimmer Polish Cristina

I was digging through my drawer of untried indie polishes and happily came across Shimmer Polish Cristina!  I must have saved her for last because she is a total stunner!  

I started this gorgeous mani combo with Catrice Be Pool.  Be Pool is a teal color polish, maybe a tad more green with gold and green shimmer.  It's almost as if it were made to be undies for Cristina!  I used 2 coats of Be Pool for full coverage.  Then I layered 1 coat of Cristina over BP.  Cristina is a unique glitter color in my collection.  She's a deep teal, mostly showing green glitter.  But there are also blue, red and gold glitters which make for lovely pops of color!  There is a fuchsia tint to the base, but you will only see it if you wear Cristina sans undies.  You will probably need 3-4 coats if you want to wear her alone.  The formula was true to Shimmer Polishes, plenty of glitter with each brush stroke, easy to apply and smooth with 1 layer of topcoat.

Shimmer Polish Jenny + Zoya Dannii + Cult Nails Seduction

I've neglected blogging for a few days while I recuperated from a quick vacation.  So let's delve back into it with a purple explosion of shimmer, glitter and flakies!!

I started this mani with 2 coats of Zoya Dannii.  Dannii is a purple polish with a red-gold shimmer.  great formula, no application issues.  Such a gorgeous color and perfect undies for Shimmer Polish Jenny!  I'm partial to this Shimmer because it's a short version of my own name.  But that's not the only reason I like it.  Jenny is also a stunning glitter polish with silver, gold, blue and purple glitters.  It's in a clear base and is perfect for layering.  The formula was great!  An abundance of glitter came out with each brush dip, it spread nicely on my nails and layed flat.  I used 1 layer of Jenny.  I then used 1 layer of Cult Nails Seduction over the nails with Jenny and on top of Dannii on my accent nail.  Seduction is a lovely red-purple-blue flakie polish.  It was another very well made polish with a wonderful formula.  I finished this up with 1 layr of topcoat.

Shimmer Polish Stephanie + OPI Casino Royale

And now for something totally different.  I usually don't post too many mattes, nor do I mattify glitter polishes.  But I did just that with this post to show off how fun glitters can be even when they aren't blindingly sparkly.   

This is Shimmer Polish Stephanie.  Stephanie is a gorgeous mix of royal blue, purple, yellow gold and holo glitters.  I used 1 coat and there was more then a-plenty glitter on my nails.  The formula was great, glitters well suspended and they spread well on my nails.  I put Stephanie over OPI Casino Royale, a berry purple creme from the Skyfall collection.  It was a bit tricky to use because it immediately stained my cuticles and skin around my nails.  It's a gorgeous color though with a thick, creamy formula.  I used 1 layer of essie matte about you topcoat for the matte effect.

Shimmer Polish Sophie + OPI A Butterfly Moment

Today's Shimmer is light, delicate and feminine.  And pink.  So it's a perfect glitter polish for Valentine's Day so I thought it was best to share it now!  
I started with 1 layer of OPI A Butterfly Moment.  ABM is a light dusty pink with lots of shimmer.  It's a very pretty color with a good formula.  But here's the warning - if you are not very patient you will end up with lots of brush strokes.  I then used 1 layer of Shimmer Sophie to get a more soft looking glitter mani.  As you can see that even with 1 coat I still got tons of glitter on my nails and the bling effect is still very strong.  Sophie is full of pink, red, gold, and iridescent glitters.  The stuff Valentine's Day is made of.  Wonderful formula as usual.  Finished it off with 1 layer of topcoat.

Shimmer Polish Carmen

I typically layer my glitters, but some can stand up on their own.  Shimmer Polish Carmen is one of those glitters that can be the star of the show without a base coat.  Carmen is a beautiful carmel-gold colored polish full of copper and gold glitters.  I used 2 coats of Carmen and the formula was great.  The glitter came out in abundance, spread well on the nail and the colored base became opaque easily in those 2 coats.  I especially like how Carmen is equally stunning in the light and the shade.  I used 1 layer of topcoat for smooth and shiny nails.
