Halloween Mani!

Happy Halloween dear ghoulies!  I have a quick post to share the mani I sported today!  Then I'm off to take the littles Trick or Treating!  Hope you have a fun, spooky night full of treats!

I went with classic Halloween colors; green, orange and purple.  I started with 2 coats of Elevation Polish Darkest Safari - a gorgeous, dark green holo.  Perfect formula and application!  Perfect shade for Fall and Winter!  I then used Smitten Polish Fire Burn, a glowing orange holo micro glitter that is just amazing!  I used 3 coats for full coverage.  I have Super Black Lacquers Bruiser on my pinky, a super awesome deep purple full of silver shimmer.  To make it more Halloween I hand drew a hanging spider on each accent nail using Sally Hansen Scaredy Matte.  I dotted on red eyes with Zoya Posh.  I also have a silvery grey hand drawn web on my pinky, but it's hard to see.  I used Zoya Loredana for the web.  Boo.  I finished it all with a couple layers of topcoat.

Super Black Lacquers Fall 2014 Collection

Good morning and Happy Halloween!  I'll be watching my kids parade at their school, then helping out in one of the classrooms while they get settled into a Halloween art project!  Hopefully I'll have time to grab coffee with a girlfriend before I have to go straight back to the school and pick them all up.  So while I do all that you can check out the new Super Black Lacquers Fall 2014 Collection!  Packed full of shimmer, glitter, metallic, creme and opalescence - it's a fabulous 5 piece collection that covers alot of finish bases!  The Fall 2014 Collection is currently available on the website and you can purchase them for $10 - $12 each.

Bruiser is a "plum purple with silvery shimmer."  Bruiser is showing a bit warmer in my pictures than it is in real life.  But that silver flakie shimmer is ah-mazing!   It's a really flattering shade of purple that has fantastic coverage.  Both the formula and application were great.  I used 2 coats of Bruiser for complete opaqueness and finished with 1 layer of topcoat.

Fall Back is a perfect "midnight blue creme."  This is an extremely opaque slightly jelly formula (maybe it's cruelly?).  It is super dark, almost black in regular lighting.  In my bright light you can clearly see that it is a deep blue.  Fall Back had a great formula that was easy to work with.  It applied smoothly and has a shiny finish. I used 3 coats of Fall Back for full coverage and finished up with a layer of topcoat to keep the uber glossy look.

Moving on to the glitter of the collection, Boss Lady.  Boss Lady is a "glitterbomb with 5 sizes of champagne fold glitter and gold pigment."  This is just WOW!  It's so luxurious and blingy AND gold!  I love the sparkle and depth.  You can wear Boss Lady alone or over a base color.  But this is really opaque alone so it could totally cover the base color that you choose unless you lightly sponge Boss Lady on.  I chose to wear it alone and had full coverage in 3 coats.  I also sponged 1 layer on the tip of my accent nail (which was Fall Back).  I finished with 1 layer of topcoat for a smooth finish.

Semi Automatic is a "metallic gunmetal grey."  I love this color, it's dark and beautiful!  It will be a perfect color to transition into the Winter months.  The formula and application were both great - smooth formula and even coverage.  There is a very fine rainbow holo shimmer visible to the naked eye but I wasn't successful at capturing it in any of my pictures.  There were a few visible brush strokes so paint carefully if that bothers you.  I used 2 coats of Semi Automatic and 1 layer of topcoat.

I saved my favorite for last, The Perfectionist.  This is a "warm camel polish with violet pearlescence."  Holy hell this is one stunning polish!  I love it's super neutral yet girly base and the addition of that shimmer is, well, perfection.  The Perfectionist is very creamy and has a pretty opaque formula for such a light color.  It applied like a dream.  I used 3 coats of The Perfectionist and 1 layer of topcoat.

Super Black Lacquer Fall 2013 Collection

Good morning!  Sorry for going MIA again.  This month has been pretty busy and I've had to put blogging on the back burners to what happens in life.  But thankfully it's nothing serious or bad, just alot going on.  Dern holidays getting in the way of my blogging.  LOL.   Well I have some really fabulous holos to show you today.  You know I am a humongo fan of holos so I literally squealed when these arrived in my mailbox!  These beauties are the Super Black Lacquers Fall 2013 Collection and they are amazing.  I have reviews Super Black Lacquers before and you can check those posts out HEREHERE and HERE (there are a few more and you can do a search for Super Black in my search bar).  I have been impressed with every SBL that I've tried and these are no exception.  Actually I think they may be my favorites!  You can purchase Super Black Lacquer HERE and can follow them on Facebook and Instagram!  So let's delve in to the pictures!

*PRESS SAMPLE*

This is Guilty.  Guilty is a metallic yellow-gold color with a soft linear holo.  It had an amazing, buttery formula that was so easy to apply.  No problems with patches or streaks, just flawless formula and application.  I used 2 coats for full coverage and upon the recommendation from Natalie on her product description, I didn't use topcoat so the holo would be at it's strongest.

3rd Degree is the only polish in this collection that isn't a holo, but I love it!  It's one of my favorite color families and the glowy shimmer is perfection.  Natalie describes it as a "pearlescent persimmon" color with "superfine gold shimmer."  The juicy red-orange color is spot on for the Fall and the shimmer will completely steal your breath!  I tried to do my best at capturing the shimmer so hopefully you can see how gorgeous it is.  I used 2 coats for full coverage and again it was an amazing formula and application was perfect.  I finished this with 1 layer of topcoat.

I love the name and color of Spanked.  Spanked is described as a "shimmering cranberry red in low light, with a prismatic holo effect in sunlight."  I'm not sure I see the cran, but I definitely see the berry!  Or maybe this is the shade of a freshly spanked behind.  Whatever the reason or meaning behind the name this is a gorgeous color with a beautiful soft linear holo effect.  Just like the other 2 from the Fall 2013 collection it had a buttery formula with lovely application.  I used 2 coats and no topcoat.

And lastly is Heather.  Heather is a purple polish with a soft linear holo effect.  It's the perfect shade of purple...a perfect in between color.  The holo effect is also really lovely.  Keeping in line with the others, application and formula were both wonderful.   I used 2 layers and no topcoat.

Just because I thought it would be pretty I did a little gradient mani with Spanked and Heather!  They were so pretty together.  I like how you can see the differences in holo effect on the 2 different polishes.  I did use a layer of topcoat here to smooth out and gloss up my gradient.

Super Black Lacquers Summer 2013!

HI HI lovely readers!  I haven't posted since the day prior to returning to the mainland.  So sad, I miss paradise.  Alas reality has me by the arms now and I'm sucked back into the mundane daily routines.  Well not so much since it's all rushing around getting things for the first day of school.  And I also am leaping back into reviews!  YAY!  This post is full of awesome polish from Super Black Lacquers.  Natalie recently released her Summer 2013 collection and it has a little something for everyone!  Crelly, shimmer, glitter, speckled.  They are each gorgeous in their own right and fabulous as a collection together.  I've reviewed a couple Super Black Lacquers in the past...if you want to see them here are the links: The Whale, Purdy and Drunk Dial.  You can follow Super Black Lacquers on Facebook and can purchase directly from superblacklacquers.com!  Now on to the polish!

*PRESS SAMPLE*

I went lightest to darkest so up first is Weird Girl.  The name makes me giggle.  I'm sure I was the weird girl, especially when I think about my middle school years and all the "styles" and "trends" I went through.  Natalie describes Weird Girl as a "flattering neutral polish.  Light concrete grey with gold/red/purple opalescence."  I loved this one!  Love the grey base and I saw tons of pink-magenta shimmer!  In some lighting the polish actually looks pink.  The formula on Weird Girl was great!  Easy flowing and spread smoothly on my nails.  I got full coverage in 2 coats.  I used 1 layer of topcoat.

Plip turned out to be a surprising favorite for me!  I haven't really jumped on board the speckled train and Plip made me realize why.  All the speckled polish is pastel based.  Blah.  This vibrant deep turquoise is a gorgeous color and the black glitters "speckled" inside are so complimentary and pretty!  I  also like that this is a great transitional color...it works for Summer and will also be perfect for the Fall!  The base on Plip was nice and creamy, with a great formula that was easy to apply.  The glitters came out in abundance and created a lovely speckled effect.  I used 3 coats (2 would have been fine) and 1 layer of topcoat.

Holy moly this is a gorgeous red!  Cannibal is a stunning crelly polish but dang this baby was hard to capture on camera.  It was red overload!  Now I am calling this a crelly because like a jelly it is amazingly shiny on it's own.  But it applies like a creme!  Because it's not a full on creme the formula was a little thinner than the others in this collection so be sure to wipe the extra polish off your brush so you don't get flooding.  I used 2 coats and no topcoat.  Just look at that shine!

This blurple sensation is Dusted.  I have to say this was my favorite of the Summer 2013 set.  How could it not be?  Just look at this color - it's blue, it's purple, it's green shimmer!  Natalie describes Dusted as "a sheer, grape purple polish totally crammed with sea green shimmer."  It has a slight "mermaid" feel to it and I want to wear it to the pool (not the ocean because with Shark Week running I'm terrified).  I will admit that I immediately put this on my toes after I tried all 5 polishes out.  I found Dusted to be a tad sheer.  The first coat went on very light.  I ended up using 3 coats and the final polish/color pay off is amazing.  I used 1 layer of topcoat to shine things up because Dusted dries to a matte finish.

And finally, we have reached the end of the collection!  Blitz is the essential black sparkly polish that every polish lover needs in their stash.  This was the other polish that made my camera go crazy!  It tried to dull the black and didn't want to pick up the sparkle.  So believe me when I say this is a sparkling beauty.  Natalie built this up from a creme black base and loaded it with holo silver hexs in multiple sizes.  The formula was lovely and the application was perfect.  I had great coverage in 3 coats.  Plenty of holo glitters came out easily and the dispersed on my nails evenly.  I see so many possibilities for this polish...galaxy nails, Halloween themed nails, NYE or just plain going out for night with friends or a special someone.  I finished it with 1 layer of topcoat but I will admit, it was pretty dang shiny on its own without it!
