Femme Fatale Pools of Vision & Edge of the Cosmos

Good afternoon readers!  Sorry for disappearing for a bit!  Sometimes life gets hectic with 3 littles and a household to run.  Being a soccer mom isn't always the easiest job but it's definitely a rewarding one.  About a week back I reviewed some lovely Femme Fatale Cosmetics nail polish.  You can see the post for Gravity Lapse and Fatal Attraction HERE!  Today I have 2 more beautiful polishes to share!  I have been highly impressed with the quality and formula on all the Femmes that I have.  This is a great brand  that puts out great products.  Femme Fatal Cosmetics is an Australian brand and shop that carries a large variety of products including lots of indie nail polish.  If you don't live in Australia don't fret...there are plenty of stockist that carry the brand *insert the sound of thousands of women rejoicing at one time*  Harlow & Co, Ninja Polish, Color4Nails, Norway Nails and Beauty Softly.  You can also follow Femme Fatale on Instagram (femme_fatale_cosmetics).  Let's move into the review shall we?

This lovely fellow is Pools of Vision.  On the FFC website it's described as a "grey tinted off white with a variety of cool toned (grey, teal, white, aqua, green) glitters scattered throughout.  POV is kind of a trickster to the eye - sometimes the base looked white, sometimes light blue, and others grey.  I love how the almost pastel and neon glitters really popped through the base color.  Of course the neon green glitters were my favorites, they really brought some fun color to the mix.  I used 3 coats for full coverage and had plenty of glitter show up on my nails.  The glitters laid flat and I had no problems with the formula or application.  I finished with 1 layer of topcoat.

Edge of the Cosmos is another lovely polish.  It's described as a "blackened purple base with fine holographic particles, and a variety of holo shapes and sizes."  It's gorgeous for this time of year.  It's dark and vampy with silver holos moons and stars.  The base on EOTC is jelly so it's nice and squishy and very shiny.  This is another trickster because it appears to be a very dark purple or a deep raspberry depending on the lighting.  I again used 3 coats and had no issues at all with the formula or application. I had plenty of glitter shapes come out and they all laid flush with my nails.  I did use 1 layer of topcoat to seal in the glitter (and force of habit) but EOTC has a nice glossy finish so topcoat isn't really necessary.

a-England Briarwood & Lumina Lacquer Mick Or Treat

Happy Friday!  I am pretty excited about this post!  It's so "Fall" I almost can't take it.  I look forward to the Fall every year, it's my favorite season!  Yeah I know, I'm from California and I don't get seasons - let me live in my fantasy world.  Besides, it's been chilly enough in the mornings and evenings to call it Fall here.  Today I even asked my fashion forward bestie if I could officially wear my corduroys yet…I was given the approval, YAY!  So I'm already rubbing my hands together thinking about which Fall/Autumn/Halloween polishes are going to come out of my helmer drawers to play over the next couple months.  I should make a list.  Anywho….I fell into this spiraling train of thought after wearing this on my nails for the past few days.  

This is a-England Briarwood.  Wow, what a stunning color!  Adina says Briarwood is a burgundy based color with holographic particles.  It's definitely a very deep reddish brown, so sure I can go with burgundy.  It's so gorgeous I can barely stand it!  Briarwood is a tight scattered holo and effect is more soft and subtle than the in-your-face linear holos you normally see me post.  But the best part is it's a 1 coater.  Yup you heard me right, 1 coat.  Formula and application were flawless!  I used 1 layer of topcoat.

I also used Lumina Lacquer Mick or Treat.  How adorable is this polish!?  It's a glitter bomb packed full of colors that are perfectly Fall!  Tatiana, the lovely gal behind Lumina Lacquer, describes Mick or Treat as "a mixture or orange, red, black glitter with pumpkin glitters thrown in."  Now I know my bottle had pumpkins in there but I wasn't lucky and didn't get any out.  I was also given a baggie of extra glitters but I have no excuse other than I'm lazy and I didn't put any of the loose pumpkins on my nails.  That's ok because I truly love the way my Lumina accent nails turned out without the pumpkins.  I used 3 coats of Mick or Treat to ensure my accent nails were absolutely covered to the brim with glitter.  and they were!  Each brush dip provided plenty of glitter and the Mickey's came out with no fishing required!  I used 2 layers of topcoat on my glitter accent nails.

China Glaze Infra Red and Lumina Lacquer Man Eater

Hello there nail polish lovers.  What say you to a little holo and glitter bomb?  Yes?  Well good because that's what I have to share in this post.  Holo and glitter play so well together in my opinion.  And since they are my top 2 favorite finishes it's my favorite combination to play with.  

I started with China Glaze Infra Red as the base for this mani.  I don't really feel like this is "red" but more of a magenta color.  But definitely not red.  Regardless of the color not matching the name it's gorgeous.  It went on beautifully in 2 coats.  No typical holo issues like streaking or dragging (I notice I say that more and more often now....maybe holos are just being made better these days).  The formula was nice and creamy and thick (where as some holos are almost watery thin).  Infra Red has a very soft linear holo.  You will notice it's much more subtle than say the Color Club holos.  It's a very lovely holo effect.

I then decided to use Lumina Lacquer Man Eater to accent my nails.  Man Eater is a really gorgeous mix of matte grey, holo and black glitters.  It's awesome!  There are tons of great shapes in Man Eater: stars, moons, hearts, circles and hexs.  FUN!  There is also a nice amount of micro glitter to round it all out.  I dabbed Man Eater to my nails just under my cuticle area (I really need to look up the name for that part of the nail) and then covered my entire ring finger nail.  I did 2 coats this way.  I then used Gelous on my ring finger nail and a layer of topcoat on all nails.  The glitters smoothed out nicely and everything was sealed in and shiny.  Also - the topcoat did not effect the holo on Infra Red.

Lumina Lacquer Moon Child

Have you checked out Lumina Lacquer yet?  If you haven't I suggest you run over to the shop and take a peek!  I'd been eyeing Moon Child for a while and I couldn't be happier with it!  It's gorgeous!  Packed full of large glitters in a wide assortment of shapes….it's made out of magic and win!

I started this mani with 1 coat of Sinful Colors Endless Blue.  It's the brightest blue I own and it's a real beauty!  Great formula too!  I then put on 2 coats of Lumina Lacquer Moon Child.  Moon Child is brimming with stars, hearts, flowers, moons, circles, butterflies, bars, hexs and micro glitters!  There is truly something for everyone in here.  I got a great variety of glitter out with each brush dip and the glitters laid flat and smooth on my nails.  I used 2 coats of Gelous and a layer of topcoat to ensure smooth and super glossy nails that would last (and boy did they - 3 days, NO tip wear!).  I look forward to trying other polish from Lumina Laquer sooner than later!  Spring Fling - I'm looking at you kid!
