Del Sol Color Changing Nail Polish

Hello again friends.  I'm being forced to just lay low today as I'm fighting a pretty good cold.  But it gives me time to catch up on posts so I'll take advantage of my being sick to do just that!   Fun little post for you this afternoon with some super cool color changing polishes.  Unlike thermals, these are solar powered changes, they change colors in the sunlight!  And it's a very easy transition, not requiring a bowl or warm or ice water for swatches and photos.  So 2 big thumbs up from me for ease of use.  Del Sol has a wide variety of products available on their website, including nail polish, hats, sunglasses, t-shirts and accessories.  I have some of the fabulous polishes in this post as well as some cool hair clips that my daughter modeled for me.  The best thing is you don't even need strong sunlight for them to work!  I had an overcast day and they all worked perfectly as soon as I walked outside.  You can pick up these great polishes for $10 each.  Other items range from $4 to $60.  Let's jump in and check out the post!

Up first I have Barely There.  It's a sheer nude with silver metallic glitters.  Once you walk in to the sunlight you get a gorgeous shade of mauve.  Formula was great, applied easily.  3 coats and no topcoat.

Sunshine & Memories is a clear base full of hot pink matte glitters.  In sunlight it turns in to a sheer purple base with purple glitters.  I'm not sure if this one should be layered over a base, maybe white?  Or leave it as is since it changes base and glitter colors.  The glitters do give it a textured feel.  I used 3 coats and no topcoat.  *I don't see this one on the site currently and it's possible it's sold out or just out of stock.

Future's So Bright is a shimmery orange inside and turns in to a beautiful dusty brick red in the sunlight.  I love both of the colors of this one and the shimmery finish.  Formula was a bit sheer, after 3 coats I still had some VNL.

This was my favorite of the group I swatched.  Cold Snap is a dusty sage green creme inside and in the sun turns to a beautiful deep plum purple.  It was really shiny and much more opaque than the others.  But I do have to say that this was supposed to have a matte finish, I didn't get that at all.  Otherwise formula and application were both great.  I used 3 coats and no topcoat.

And last but not least is Perfectly Pastel.  It starts out as a vibrant turquoise creme and changes to a lime green in the sun.  Really pretty colors but I did have a few problems here.  First off this is supposed to be a matte finish and it's not.  Secondly the formula was pretty streaky and never evened out.  I used 3 coats and no topcoat there.

I was also sent a pack of Plumeria hair clips.  These are SO fun!  I have to admit that I didn't expect them to change so quickly or vibrantly but they totally exceeded all my expectations!  I did a quick bun in my daughters hair and added the clips.  Inside they are white...

Once outside they started changing instantly!

Just to show you that these work even in overcast, cloudy weather.

And to show them all together and just how bright they can get!  Such pretty colors!

  3. The clips are so cute! I wish the colors were a bit more opaque though. I’d have to do 4+ coats of these!

  4. Whoa cool clips! They look so pretty on your daughter! Her hair is so beautiful.. I have the same shade, but mine comes from a bottle, lol!
I find most of the nail polishes a bit too sheer, but Cold Snap is really really impressive.
