Girly Bits Cosmetics, Codename: Duchess

Good morning again!  It's almost Thanksgiving!  Are you ready?  Did you get your groceries, travel to where you need to be, decorate your house to look like Christmas?  I did none of that this year because we decided to have Thanksgiving across the country in New York.  But we will be spending the evening with family members (extended ones that I don't know so well, but it'll be fun and delicious!).  Anywho, I'm back with more polish that launch soon!  Girly Bits has this gorgeous collection called Codename: Duchess.  It's inspired by Archer and from the feedback I was getting while helping people shop at The Indie Event, this is a very good thing.  I don't know what this tv show is but I gather it's about spies.  Codename Duchess is a set of 7 duochrome-y shimmers that will be available on 11/24 at 12 noon EST.  Polishes will be $16.50 CAD each.  During the first two weeks if you purchase the entire collection for $108.50 (a savings of $1 per bottle).  Ok let's jump in and hear about each individual polish!

Girly Bits What Really Happened In Vegas; 2016 Collection

Good morning beauties.  It's my second day at home with the kids all off to school and things are a bit easier.  It's a full day so I have an extra hour to take care of things, I've already gotten most of the house cleaned up, I'm going to get my daughter's birthday party planned and I'm gong to enjoy the peace before the storm hits.  I'll be in taxi mom hell trying to get 3 kids to 3 separate fields for practice during the same 2 hour block this evening.  So while I figure out a way to clone myself I decided to jump online and share a post with you.  Sorry that this one is long overdue, I've had pictures ready, just haven't had time to write it up.  The good news is that the 2016 What Really Happened In Vegas Collection is still available!  It will also be showcased at PolishCon, if any of you are making your way to Chicago in September!  But back to details, the WRHIV collection will be $16.50CAD each, if you purchase the entire set before 8/29 you can save $5!  Let's delve on in to the post and see what Pam has to say about the polishes and inspirations for this years collection.

Lumina Lacquer Quicksand

Good afternoon lovelies.  Hope your Wednesday is going well, mine is just ok.  I am really just ready for school to be over.  The last day can't come soon enough.  It's getting harder and harder to wake up to get my kids there on time, my kids are overly-excited for Summer and have been getting in trouble more than usual.  I'll admit it seems to be the story for a lot of kids right now, but this mom is OVAH IT.  I'm ready for beach days, summer camp, swim lessons, vacations.  Clearly my kids are too.  Alas, 10 days to go.  So to pass the time I'll continue to blog lovely polish for you to oogle.  Today's post features a new holo micro glitter from Lumina Lacquer.  You KNOW Tatiana knocks this type of polish out of the park and this one is absolutely amazing!  Ok, yes I am biased because I love a good copper polish, but hello copper holo microglitter!  Win Win Win!  Quicksand is currently stocked in the shop and you can get a bottle of your own for $9.  So with that info provided let's look at pictures!

Quicksand is a "superholo copper glitter in clear base."  So so pretty and so so blingy.  This is much like others made by Lumina Lacquer - Maleficent, Frosting, Mystic and Spaced Out.  It's also got a formula just like those, totally packed with glitter and built for full coverage on it's own.  If you haven't tried any of these before you might find the polish thick, but it's just filled to the brim with glitter.  I found the formula easy to apply and was able to get full coverage with 2 coats of Quicksand.  I finished with a nice layer of topcoat for a smooth finish.

ellagee Jeweled Egg Hunt

Hello!  Chugging along in this long week, hope you're still hanging in here!  I am, but barely.  I've got a bad case of excitement and restlessness.  I'm excited to head off to Disneyland this weekend for the Tinkberbell 10K race.  It will be my second time running it.  Of course my family will be there too so it will be nice Mother's Day weekend away from home (= no cooking or cleaning).  Speaking of Disneyland, my post today features ellagee, another big fan of Disney!  Laura has lots of Disney themed polishes as well as plenty of others to tickle your fancy.  The one I have to share today is actually from the giant indie Bunny Box that she released - full of indie brands and hand care items.  A few of those items were offered in individual shops later and this was one.  I had to have it.  So.  Much.  Glittery.  Goodness.  The good news?  It's still available!  You can pick up Jeweled Egg Hunt for $10.50 now, along with loads of other great polishes.  Head over and take a look and all the pretties.  And now let's look at this one.

Jeweled Egg Hunt is a "mix of metallic and holo glitter in shades of pink and fuchsia with shades of gold holo microglitter."  This is such a gorgeous blend of colors, it's got a vintage feel that reminds me of a Faberge egg.  The formula was really great, perfect consistency and full coverage on it's own. I used 3 coats of Jeweled Egg Hunt and was very happy with the glitter payoff.  I finished with a layer of topcoat.

Lumina Lacquer Spring/Easter 2015 Collection

Good afternoon dears!  I hope your Friday is going swimmingly and your work day is almost done.  I'm holed up in the house with my kids (who didn't have school today) and just lounging in pjs and watching tv.  We are so lazy.  It's also a bit chilly outside so I don't even want to go outside until warmer Spring weather decided to make it's appearance.  But since that will be a while I will console myself with pretty Spring polish posts.  Let's start with the new Lumina Lacquer Spring/Easter 2015 Collection!  Tatiana really has a way with glitter combinations that always make my heart beat a little faster.  This collection captures Spring in soft and bold shades, glitters and a very pretty crelly full of micro glitter.  All 4 polishes in this collection are Limited Edition and available now for $9 each!  Hurry over and get your favorites before they are gone!

Let's start with Baby Bunny, a "white, opaque crelly that contains pastel colored micro glitter."  This screams Easter to me.  Baby Bunny reminds me of the speckled Robin's Eggs candies.  Yum yum!  Baby Bunny was full coverage in 2 coats.  The formula was a little thick, but not difficult to work with.  It dries ever so slightly textured but with a nice layer of gelous or a few layers of topcoat it's perfectly smooth and shiny.

Bee-Lieve is a fun and bright "yellow and black glitter mix with an assortment of different shapes (hearts, stars, hexs, dots, etc.) in a clear base).  Hello I love this so much!  I am a big ol' fan of yellow and yellow glitter polishes.  I would have layered it over yellow but I wanted to really show off the different shades of yellow in Bee-Lieve so I went with a red-orange creme.  The formula and application of Bee-Lieve were both fantastic.  The glitter payoff was perfect.  You could easily use 1 layer for a lighter glitter look, I used 2 for denser coverage.  I finished with a layer of topcoat.

Easter Basket is a delicate blend of pastel glitter.  It's officially described as a "pastel colored micro glitter with dots and hexs in a clear base."  I loved the soft look of this one.  I think Easter Basket will look beautiful over any pastel base color including white and cream!  The formula and application were were both great.  I decided I wanted a lighter glitter payoff so I used 1 coat of Easter Basket over a softly shimmered pastel orange peach shade.  I finished with a layer of topcoat.

Rounding out the collection is Baby Chick.  This is a "neon yellow and white mix that includes triangles, hexs, dots, stars hearts, daisies, etc."  As much as I loved the pastel colors, Baby Chick is the one that stole the show!  Yellow AND neon AND fun glitter shapes!  So much win.  The formula and application of Baby Chick were both great.  I was able to get plenty of fun shapes out without much fishing required (turn the bottle upside down for a few minutes for the bigger shapes to float to the top).  I did dab a few shapes on to have a consistent flow to the glitter on my nails.  I layered 2 coats of Baby Chick over a shimmery pastel blue and finished with a layer of topcoat.

Lumina Lacquer Valentine's Day Trio

Hello, hello!  Yes I am back again.  My seat is parked and I have been working my fingers off to get these all posted for you.  But you want to know something, I'm having fun!  And who doesn't love sparkly polish on their nails?  I sure do!  This post is the new Valentine's Day Trio from Lumina Lacquer.  I am so happy Tatiana went back to her glitter bomb roots with this collection and gave us some awesome new glitters to enjoy!  Of course I adore her solids colors and micro glitters, but it makes me happy to see the glitter bombs because that's what initially drew me to her brand well over a year ago.  The Valentine's Day Trio is made of 3 Limited Edition glitters and they just went live in the shop for $9 each.  I love them all but keep reading to find out which is my favorite of the 3.

Up first is Cupid, a "neon pink and white glitter mix that includes hearts, stars, and flowers."  The glitter mixture is very sweet and girly.  I put it over OPI Flamingo Tink Pink and love all the pinkness.  Cupid had a great formula with fantastic glitter coverage.  There was no fishing required for shapes or larger glitters.  I used 2 coats of Cupid and finished with a layer of topcoat.  

Next, Bad Romance.  This is a "blue, turquoise and black glitter mix that includes hearts and stars in a clear base."  THIS was my favorite.  I loved the colors and sized of the glitters.  I love that it's not the typical Valentine's Day colors.  Bad Romance had a fantastic formula and applied easily.  I was really happy with the glitter payoff.  I used 2 coats of Bad Romance over Zoya Ling.  I finished with topcoat.  

And rounding out the collection is Paramore.  Paramore is a "pink, red and gold holo microglitter blend in a clear base."  This is the blingy wow-factor of the trio!  The blend of colors are perfect and the microglitter, like all of Tatiana's microglitters, applies with ease and covers fully on it's own in a few coats.  But look at the bling!  Sorry, I am easily distracted by sparkly things.  Formula and application were both aces.  I used 3 coats of Paramore and finished with topcoat for a smooth to the touch finish.
