Alter Ego: November Polish of the Month, Open Arms

Another fabulous morning and...it's Friday!! While I am recovering from yesterday's consumption of mass amounts of food and vegging put on the couch, I figured I'd jump on and share another polish post, YAY!  Today's post features a Fan Group Custom! Cynthia from Alter Ego has been making some beautiful monthly polishes for her Facebook Fan Group and the November offering is lovely.  She created Open Arms, inspired by the heartfelt thought that everyone goes in to the holidays being kind and welcoming.  I love that thought and it would be so nice if everyone in the world practiced this.  You can purchase Open Arms this month (or until supply runs out) and it will be $9.50.  Plus you can use my discount code My Nail Polish Obsession for 25% off.  I love a good deal!  I am not sure what Black Friday deals Cynthia has going on, but I do know you'll be able to stack codes!

Makeup Review: NYX LE Sugar Trip Collection - Paradise Fluff Ombre Highlighter - Sweet Custard & Lip Oil - Carnival Ride

Good morning, happy Saturday!  I'm at home, resting, relaxing, sleeping, cleaning, eating, watching tv.  I'm usually on the go but for now, I'm just laying low and enjoying the down time.  Earlier last week I swung y the Nordstrom Rack and picked up some new makeup.  I saw a cute display for the NYX Paradise Fluff collection, I believe it's the holiday collection?  Don't quote me on that - it's not a brand I follow so I have to do some sleuthing and see what other bloggers have said about the collection.  Anyways, the Sugar Trip collection has a few smaller collections within in featuring tins with lip products, shadows, lippie sets, highlighters, all packaged so cute and perfect for gifting.  I have been mildly obsessing over highlighter and typically get very light pink ones but saw this one and decided to give it a try.  I also couldn't resist the lip oil because I have a problem with owning way too many lipsticks and lipgloss and lip balm and all the lip products.  Anyways, as I said, there are a bunch of other products in this collection, they range from $6 - $55.  While I found these at the Nordstrom Rack, they are also at NYX, Ulta, Target, Kohls.  Let's check them out!

Londontown Lakur; Summer 2018

Good morning dears!  Sorry for radio silence but I'm off on vacation and have found little time to sit down at the laptop and get posts written up.  My days are all about pool, beach, family excursions, going out for amazing meals.  Between the heat, being on my feet and being pregnant I basically barely make it into my pjs before I crash each night.  Anyways, what I am getting at is that I have about a zillion posts to share with you now and will be trying to catch up, possibly double posting once I return home mid-week next week.  Let's get this party started with a beautiful collection from Londontown.  I first came into contact with the brand at CPNA 2016.  I was fully impressed with the brand, colors and especially the Instant Smudge Fix.  I came home with samples and have purchased from the brand multiple times since then.  I was pretty stoked when they contacted me to do a review!  I was sent nail care and a few polishes from the Summer 2018 collection to try out.  If you mosey on over to the Londontown site before 7/29 at 11:59pm EST you can save 30% off your order. Alright, you ready to jump in?  Then let's go!

Sweet Heart Polish LE Monthlies; January 2016 & February 2016

Good morning dears!  Last week of February.  How fast did that go by?  Too fast.  I enjoyed a week off from the normal hustle and bustle but we are back to the daily routine of school and sports and taxi mom life and errands.  Le sigh, Summer you are still too far away.  But oh hey, I have some beautiful polish to show you so I'll stop gabbing about things I can't change.  Sweet Heart Polish is releasing monthly polishes this year and I have the first two to share with you.  The monthly polishes are limited edition and small batch so you definitely don't want to wait around your laurels or you may find yourself hitting up the sale boards in search of them.  January 2016 and February 2016 both launched on 2/15/16 but don't fret - there are still some bottles available for each color.  You can pick yours up for $10 USD each.  So let's jump in and check out the review!

Elevation Polish Spam: SBP's & Ooops

Ahem, yes I am back again with more Elevation Polish.  Hope you don't mind.  You might actually mind this one since these are all SBP's (Small Batch Production) or Ooops and you only have 2 chances to get them (much like the Yetis).  So that means unless you find them on a destash sale you won't be able to get any of the polish in this post.  Me sorry.  But they are so gorgeous I really needed to share them.

Saya de Malha.  What can I say?  This is an absolutely breathtaking peachy holo.  It's perfection.  Saya de Malha has a loose linear effect and a super creamy formula.  It applied like butter.  I used 2 coats of Saya de Malha and no topcoat.

I know yellow is not a very loved color, but it's totally my jam.  I adore yellow and will wear it proudly - especially if it's the fabulous Mustard Fields from EvP!  This is a mustard yellow, scattered holo with teeny gold flakes.  It's reading a bit more chartreuse in my pictures but it truly is a fabulous yellow.  Great formula and application.  I used 2 coats of Mustard Fields for perfect coverage and no topcoat.

This isn't an SBP, but it is an Ooops.  From what I gather it's a core polish that was a mistake in the ingredients to create a slightly different look to it.  This is Ooops McKinley.  It's a lovely soft lavender  crelly.  I love the color and the finish.  I used 3 coats of Ooops McKinley for full coverage and no topcoat needed!

Smitten Polish Exclusives: Elixir, Smitten by Your Beauty & Endless Sunset

It's afternoon time.  The day is almost over - go away Wednesday I don't like you.  But I do like Smitten Polish!  So this post makes my day much better.  What I've got here for you are Smitten exclusives to a few international online shops.  I managed to get my greedy hands on them and I'm pretty darn happy I did.  So let's jump in and check out these awesome shades Noelie created for her stockists.

Hypnotic Polish: Shop, Facebook, Instagram

Up first I have Hypnotic Polish Elixir.  Elixir is described as a "dark teal green...jelly with 2 sizes of holographic glitter." This is a really beautiful shade of green.  It slightly reminds me of a sea-green, something sparkly like mermaid scales.  As usual Noelie knocked this out of the park.  The addition of the holographic glitters makes Elixir a real stunner.  The formula and application were on par with all the Smittens I have ever worn, totally perfect.  I used 2 coats of Elixir and 1 layer of topcoat.

Next is Smitten By Your Beauty which is available at Beauty So Fly.  Smitten By Your Beauty is described as a "deep plum base with suuuper sparkly holo blue glitters and blue and gold flakes!"  Wow!  First off I didn't add all those "u's" - they were truly in the description on the listing.  Second, this is a totally swoon worthy shade of plum!  I sound like broken record but again, fantastic formula and application.  Noelie has her formulation down to a science and it's just perfect.  I used 2 costs of Smitten By Your Beauty and 1 layer of topcoat.

Endless Sunset...yes I saved my favorite for last.  This is from Edgy Polish and is described as "a peachy orange jelly base, packed full of bright holographic glitter!"  I am a total sucker for these bright peach/apricot/orange shades.  Actually I think I might have a problem because I'm constantly on a mission to own them all.  Endless Sunset is full of those fabulous super fine holo micro glitters that Noelie loves (and that I now love as well and can't get enough micro glitter) that make is so sparkly yet in a delicate way.  I also see some pink sparkles in there too which make it even prettier!  Once again, phenomenal formula and application.  I used 3 thin coats of Endless Sunset for full coverage and finished with 1 layer of topcoat.

The Nail Junkie: Cornucopia, Pinecone, Marigold Apple, Cutie Drops & Cutie Balm

Good morning!  I have lots to share with you today and it's all about The Nail Junkie!  I know things have been quiet on the new product front, but rest assured that the current selection is still in full stock and readily available.  I have so many polishes from The Nail Junkie and they are all totally fantastic!  Aleta pays great attention to detail, making sure each polish is unique, of the highest quality and labeled with the cutest pictures.  Each Nail Junkie full sized bottle is $10 each.  Another special little touch is that every order comes with a free gift!  Isn't that awesome?  Well, I have a few Fall themed polishes to show off today so let's jump on in and look at them!

*THE PRODUCTS IN THIS POST WERE A GIFT*

The Nail Junkie: Shop, Facebook, Instagram

Ok I might have been wrong - there IS a new product in the shop!  Gift Cards!  Aleta sent one my way so we could test it out and it was super easy to use!  The card will come with a unique code and after you load up your cart you simply follow the directions included on the gift card, enter your code and TA-DA, Nail Junkie polish is on the way to you!  If you were looking to send someone a gift and wanted them to get a little something they could pick out themselves this is the perfect way to go!

The Nail Junkie Gift Card

This Fall beauty is Cornucopia.  Cornucopia, from the Fall 2013 collection is described as a "dense glitter polish made of micro copper holographic glitter."  GAH this is so lovely!  These fine micro glitters are perfect for wearing over a base color or you can build Cornucopia up to full coverage in 3 coats.  The formula and application were both fantastic.  Cornucopia dries to a slightly matte and textured finish so you will want to use topcoat.  I chose to wear it alone and used 3 coats and 1 layer of topcoat to keep it nice and shiny.

Pinecone is another gorgeous polish from Fall 2013.  Pinecone is described as a "dense glitter polish made of micro brown glitter."  Holy heck this is one spectacular brown polish!  Just as sparkly as Cornucopia, but the color is so rich and warm!  It makes me want to cozy up and a big fluffy sweater.  I loved the formula and application of Pinecone...great coverage and easy to work with.  This also dries to a matte/slightly textured finish so you want to use topcoat.  I used 3 layers of Pinecone and 1 layer of topcoat.

I picked Marigold as the third polish to get with the gift card.  I just couldn't resist this beautiful satin finish pastel that was added to the Pastel Collection earlier this year.  Marigold is described as an "orange pastel shimmer polish that dries to a powdery finish."  I actually think it's more of a peachy color but that could just be the way it looks against my skin tone.  Marigold has a great formula and applied very easily.  It does show some brushstrokes but if you paint carefully it shouldn't be an issue.  I used 2 coats of Marigold for full coverage.  I finished with 1 layer of topcoat.

I added Apple to this review because I noticed I hadn't tried it on yet and well what's more Fall than apples?  So it all worked out.  Apple is from the Neon Shimmer Jelly Collection and is described as a "juicy neon green jelly polish...loaded with holographic shimmer."  It totally reminds me of a Granny Smith Apple!  I love the neon shimmer jellies from The Nail Jukie.  They are unique and bright and so fun to wear!  The light sprinkle of holo shimmer is just right!  The formula and application were both fantastic.  I used 3 coats of Apple and 1 layer of topcoat.    You could try a 4th layer if you really can't stand VNL.

Aleta also sent Cutie Drops and Cutie Balm.  I was already a huge fan of Cutie Balm and know I wonder how I ever survived without Cutie Drops in my life.  I am totally addicted.  Here's what the bottles look like.  You can pick up a .5oz bottle of Cutie Drops for $7.  Cutie Balm comes in 2 sizes; 5 gram for $4, 10 gram for $6.

The Nail Junkie Cutie Balm & Cutie Drops

Cutie Drops is a "special blend of fragrance free, dye free, hypo-allergenic dry oil that you apply directly to the nail after or in between polish changes.  The custom blend of vitamins and essential oils quench your cuticles and help promote growth."  But that's not all!  It also "helps to dry your polish and create a slick surface to prevent bumps and nicks in your polish."  It definitely does everything it says!  My nails and cuticles have been extremely moisturize after using this for a week. And it helps my manis dry much quicker than with other spray oils I have used.  One perfectly placed drop on each nail will do the job!  Here's a picture of the dropper.

The Nail Junkie Cutie Drops

Application is a snap with this precise dropper.

The Nail Junkie Cutie Drops

And this is what my cuticles look like after the oil has spread around my nails and absorbed into my cuticles.  I heard my cuticles say "aaahhhhh."

The Nail Junkie Cutie Drops

This is what the 5 gram jar of Cutie Balm looks like.  A clear, scent-free, uber moisturizing balm.  Here's what Aleta had to say about Cutie Balm, " Cutie Balm is a hand blended cuticle balm that I myself created.  This is an ultra-healing, protective balm for your cuticles.  It is dye-free, fragrance-free and cruelty-free.  Cutie Balm is a custom blend of the following high quality, ultra-nourishing ingredients: Lanolin, Avocado Oil, Argon Oil and Vitamin E."  This is another fabulous product and every time I use it I feel like my cuticles are getting a luxurious treatment.  A little dab of Cutie Balm goes a long way so even the small sized jar will last a long time.

The Nail Junkie Cutie Balm

I picked up a little Cutie Balm onto the front of my nail so you could see that it's clear.  The amount I have is way more than enough for both hands.

The Nail Junkie Cutie Balm

This is what my cuticles look like after Cutie Balm has been rubbed in and absorbed.  My skin looks fresh and plump - totally hydrated.
