January 2019 Polish Pickup & Indie Pickup, Mythology

Hello!  Happy New Year!  2019, I have big personal plans for you...getting my pre-baby body back, getting back to the fitness level I was at, back to the gym, better eating habits, decluttering my life, and basically just finding a family/self balance.  So what type of resolution(s) do you have for yourself?

Since it's January, it means the new PPU an IPU is here! Both will be open from 1/4 - 1/7 and have loads of great stuff.  The theme for the month is Mythology.  I've always loved Mythology and it was one of my favorite topics in History classes.  But this month I am doing things differently, instead of individual posts for each polish or item I have to review I am going to put them all in 1 giant post.  I feel it will be easier for you to find and keep track of items you want to earmark for later.  Let me know in the comments if you prefer 1 big post or several individual posts.

This is a pretty big post, lots of pictures...so grab your coffee and let's jump in!

Let's start this party off with Stella Chroma Goddess of the Wild.  This beauty is inspired by a statue of Artemis found in the Louvre.  Artemis is the Goddess of the hunt, moon and chastity.  The polish is a marble colored cruelly base with green, gold and yellow UCC flakies, plus some silver and gold flakies too! I used 3 thin coats for full coverage and finished with topcoat.  Awesome formula and application. Goddess of the Wild will be $12, no cap.

Stella Chroma also has a delectable sugar scrub for us this month.  Cedar, Sage & Blackberry - fruity, herby, so yummy.  It does a great job of sloughing off dry skin and softening/moisturizing body parts.  The scrub comes in a 2.5oz jar and will be $5.50, no cap.

Lollipop Posse was Those Who Were Neither, inspired by the carousel at the House on the Rock in American Gods.  Do you follow that show, or have you read the book?  I have seen a few episodes but had a hard time following it or getting "hooked."  Those Who Were Neither is a beautiful red jelly filled with chrome and iridescent flakes, aurora and scattered holo pigments. I used 3 thin coats for full coverage, no issues with formula or application. Those Who Were Neither will be $12.50 with no cap.

Alter Ego brings us Amphictyonis, inspired by a goddess of wine and friendship between nations.  It's a beautiful grapey-winey red/purple base with teal/blue shimmer.  Love the contrasting colors that really work well together.  Formula and application were both great, no problems to mention.  I used 3 thin coats for full coverage and topcoat.  Sadly I ruined my mani before I could do outside/shade/matte pics of this one...hopefully I'll get to do that before the PPU ends. Amphictyois will be $8.50 and no cap.

Alter Ego also has a bath bomb available in the IPU.  This is a HUGE Bath Bomb, it's berry-pink and scented with red wine fragrance oil.  It smelled a bit tart and sweet to me, I suppose that could be wine?  I liked the scent, it was strong but not overpowering  It also has unrefined shea and cocoa butters in it.  It will be shipped in this pint sized plastic container to keep it from breaking.  It fizzes up great and turns the tub water berry.  In the middle of the bomb is a blinking light that is water activated.  The light will last up to 20 hours if you dry up the sensors on the bottom.  All things that I enjoyed about the bath bomb.  But now the things I didn't like about it.  It caused a huge mess in my tub, to the point that I thought I was going to be left with a pink stain tub.  Thankfully after a little elbow grease and tub cleaner I was able to remove it all.  That also had me worried my daughter would have pink skin and look like a real life Poppy from Trolls.  Her skin was literally colored pink in this thick, sticky grease that I am positive came from the shea and cocoa butters.  It was even in her hair!  It took 2 rounds of soap, a body scrub and 2 shampooings to get it all off of her.  So even though it had some nice qualities it is not an item that I would purchase or recommend for your tub or kids.  If you are interested in it, you can purchase the HUGE Bath Bomb for $7.50, 100 bomb cap.

Moving along to more polish!  Dreamland Lacquer came up with a gorgeous vibrant cobalt blue full of shifty flakes, shimmer and holo flakes called Release the Kraken!  It was inspired by the massive sea beast called the Kraken, much like an octopus, inhabiting the waters off Norway and Greenland coasts.  Stunning shade of blue and such a pretty finish.  Formula and application were both fabulous.  3 thin coats and topcoat.  Release the Kraken! will be $12, no cap.

And last but definitely not least is KBShimmer Gaia.  Gaia is known as Mother Earth, or the Earth Goddess. Here we have another gorgeous, vibrant blue jelly base.  This one is filled with holo glitters and color shifting unicorn flakes.  WOW!  This one really blew me away!  I used 3 thin coats for full coverage and topcoat.  Superb formula and application.  You can pick up Gaia for $10, no cap.
