Lou It Yourself Booze And Bad Decisions

Good evening dolls.  I know, this late night post thing is becoming a habit.  But let me tell you, I played taxi mom all afternoon.  Literally from 3:30 to 7:30.  So it's the first chance I've had to sit down and get on the computer.  Last night I shared polish that was no longer available for purchase and tonight I'm doing it again.  SORRY!  Again, this was put up for sale while I was away on vacation and I actually had no literature saying when it was going to be sold so it was a surprise to me.  Of course it sold out right away.  Booze And Bad Decisions from Lou It Yourself was in the sample bag from Cocktails & Colors.   While you can't get this particular color there are lots of great polishes in the shop.  And the new Fall collection is coming up on 9/9, I've seen some sneak peeks swatches and they're gorgeous!  Watch ehmkay nails for her swatches coming shortly.  So let's jump in and check out Booze And Bad Decisions.

A Box Indied June 2016; Campfire Tales

Good morning friends!  I have a fabulous post for you today, showing off all the polishes in the June A Box Indied collaboration box.  The theme for this box is Campfire Tales, ooooh I love me a spooky story!  I actually vividly remember reading Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and being completely terrified at night all alone in my bedroom, but I couldn't stop reading and re-reading the stories.  The 5 polishes in this collaboration box take some of these folklores and translate them into fantastic polishes!  You can preorder your June A Box Indied from 6/1 to 6/4 for $50 USD.  And just like previous months, there will be 5 lucky buyers who receive a $25 gift card to one of the indie brands featured in this box!  Now on to the sad news.  Leah Ann has decided to no longer continue A Box Indied and this will be the last one.  This has been my favorite of the boxes I reviewed so if you were holding out I'd highly suggest you jump on it when the presale window opens.  And I just want close my intro with a thank you to the makers of the A Box Indied, I feel very lucky to have been selected out of the many amazing bloggers in our community to showcase these boxes.  I'm looking forward to seeing these brands in new and exciting collaborations in the future.

Alter Ego Nail Enamel Top Tweeter

Morning polish friends!  Today I bring you a fabulous polish from Alter Ego Nail Enamel.  Cynthia, the creator behind the brand is the sweetest gal I have come across in my nail polish adventures.  I have tried a few polishes from this brand now and these are unique and lovely polishes.  Alter Ego polishes are unique because they each have a "satiny matte like finish."  A layer of top coat shines things up nicely if you prefer a glossy look.  Alter Ego also uses a unique base formula which is thicker than other indie brands.  This does cause pigments to settle, but a light shake gets everything mixed up quickly.  If you are interested in trying out Alter Ego polish (and I suggest you do) head over to the store or the Facebook page for news and product information.  Cynthia is currently working on a few new polishes and I've gotten a sneaky little peak…they are gorgeous!  Keep your eyes peeled for their release date and previews on blogs!

Top Tweeter is part of the new line up for Alter Ego.  It's one of the most gorgeous yellows I have put on.  Love at first sight.  Top Tweeter is an amazing canary golden yellow with pink and yellow holo sparkles.  It also has silver micro flakes (I swear the flakes look golden in the bottle but silver on the nail).  Truly a unique polish in my collection and a perfect addition to my stash for the summer!!  I used 2 coats for complete coverage.  The formula is smooth and easy to work with.  Because of the special base it is on the thicker side, but application with a light hand makes easy work of it.  Top Tweeter dries to a "satiny matte" finish and is gorgeous.  I have pictures of Top Tweeter with and without topcoat so you can see the differences.  I prefer it with topcoat because the sparkles really came out to play underneath the glossy shine!

Super Black Lacquers The Whale

Good morning polish friends!  I am going to start a 3 day review of Super Black Lacquers today!  I'm excited because the polish created by Natalie is really pretty amazing!  When I first browsed through her store I was immediately drawn to the holos (of course), but then I spent some time inspecting the others and she has lovely glitters and shimmers too!  SBL was started in 2012 and "are 4-Free, with no Formaldehyde, Dibutyl Phthalate, Toluene, or Formaldehyde resin."  I like that Natalie and her friends personally test (ie wear) the polish several times before they are offered to the polish buying public.  You can check out more about Super Black Lacquers (and buy them) at the website superblacklacquers.com.  You can also follow them on Facebook!

This is SBL The Whale.  The Whale is described as "a medium, neutral grey creme polish, with an aqua blue iridescence."  Natalie made this polish because she wanted to make a grey polish that looked good on everyone.  Well, this is a truly gorgeous polish and I do think it would look great on everyone!  It absolutely makes me imagine a whale swimming with light reflecting off it's skin.  The aqua shimmer is stunning and very vibrant on the nail Don't you hate when the shimmer doesn't translate on the nail - NOT the case with The Whale!  The Whale also seems to change from a light greay to a medium grey depending on the lighting.  The Whale had a wonderfully thick and creamy formula.  It was easy to apply and was thiclose to being a 1 coater!  I used 2 coats for good measure and 1 layer of topcoat.
